Before Anthony could even answer, a single gun shot was heard coming from the medical tent. She wondered if Luca had gotten loose from Randall and went into to finish the job with Yuri. She looked at Anthony who looked just as surprised when they heard the shot.
"Oh my God."
If Yuri was the recipient of the bullet, she was not expecting it happen so quickly. Anthony turned and she followed suit to the medical building, along with others to see what happened. When she went in, she saw Lex sitting there and a gun in Yuri's hand. He was laying back on the bed and bleeding, motionless. For a long minute, she stared at Lex wondering if he did this to Yuri and planted the gun in the kid's hand to make it look like suicide. She wouldn't put it past him.
Lex turned around when Remy shouted at him. He hadn't been expecting her. He stood up from the chair he had been sitting in. "Hey Rem. This was his doing. I only watched." He said as he looked back to the kid.
"He deserved that much Rem." He looked back to her, "He wanted you to know that he would miss you, all of you. And asked to be buried someplace peaceful." Despite what was going to come, Lex would stand by his choice in allowing this. "He deserved to die a man Rem, not as some fucking walker. You guys should've given him that much at least.
No matter what Remy thought of him, of this situation, Lex did the right thing. They'd all come to see that sooner or later. Lex was not 100% without heart.

Remy looked incredulously towards Lex as he spoke about Yuri deserving that much. How the hell would he know? He didn't know Yuri or any one else in this group. Hell, she didn't even know Yuri or anyone else in this group which is why she felt like such an outsider to this group.
"Yea, I'm sure. But it ain't my call. Nothing here is."
She just looked at Yuri for a long moment realizing she was just staring at lifeless body as nothing more then a lifeless body. She sighed and decided to leave before Ellen and Logan came running in barking at everyone inside.
"Anthony, maybe you should take care of the kid. You probably knew him better then me."
Maybe her words were kind of cold but that's all she knew how to act right now. Don't get close to these people. Don't make friends and sure as hell don't tell them anything about herself that would make herself any more vulnerable then what she already was. Her emotions were raw and exposed and she couldn't take any more distress.
Remy's words stung a bit. Anthony had only wanted to make sure the younger woman was alright, and she was asking him what he wanted. But it wasn't all about him. Things had been hard for everyone. Even though they'd arrived at Bear Lake, Aron had gone missing on the journey, Luca was still a madman, and now Yuri was bitten. No doubt everything had been hitting Remy hard, and with the arrival of that other man, Lex, things had been even harder for her. Before Anthony could reassure Remy of his good intentions, a single shot rang out. In the pit of his stomach, Anthony already knew what had happened.
As he followed Remy and entered the tent, his fears became reality. There was the new arrival--well, they were all new arrivals, but this man wasn't with them before Bear Lake--and with him was Yuri. He was dead. It looked as if he'd shot himself. "Christ," Anthony said under his breath. At least the kid used a pistol. His head was still largely in tact.
Anthony hadn't met Lex yet, but the man's explanation was enough. "He's right--if that's what Yuri wanted. I'm sorry, Remy," was all he could say for the moment. A bite was a death sentence, but seeing Yuri dead was still sobering.
Remy suggested that Anthony handle Yuri's body, saying he knew Yuri better. He didn't. "We met Yuri at the same time, Remy," Anthony gently reminded the woman. But she did have a point. Yuri had accompanied Anthony, Aron, Nick, Ash, and Vivian in saving Dakota from Jeff. They'd spent more time together. "I don't think the powers in Bear Lake would want me handling the recently deceased. I can go get someone--Ellen or Randall or Charlie--they'd know what to do."
Anthony turned from Remy and looked over to Lex. "I'm Anthony, by the way. Thanks. If it's what he wanted, then...it's what he wanted."
Mac grunted and stared up at the roof of trees and camouflage nets above him. Ellen and her people had done a good job of making this place look invisible and he wished he could be invisible to all but his two daughters for the coming days. Maybe after Yuri had perished and they'd be more accepted into the community things would calm down, giving him some quality time with his two girls.
Then a gunshot sounded in the tent Yuri was in, and that was why Mac can't have nice things.
He rushed in with his sidearm drawn, only to find Yuri dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, surrounded by his group members and Remy's old friend Lex. It didn't take a genius to figure out the kid had decided to keep the honor to himself.
Mac let the other say their piece before chiming in himself. Yuri had helped him save Anne-Marie but other than that he had been a complete pain in the ass. But there was no use in keeping a grudge against a dead man.
"Heh... Defiant 'til the end." Mac said. "Wish you'd have listened kid."
Mac shook his head at the scene before leaving the tent. Maybe if Yuri had listened to his orders, he'd still be alive and unbitten right now. But Mac didn't deal in 'ifs' and 'maybes'. Only thing that mattered now was making sure the same thing wouldn't happen to Anne-Marie and Ellen, and that was definitely going to be a sure thing.
His daughters came running. Of course they heard the gunshot too. Charlie and some other guards weren't far behind.
"Easy hon." Mac said to Ellen. "The kid just offed himself."
Ellen rubbed her hand through her face in sheer frustration. Of course the kid killed himself. And of course he literally went out with a bang to announce it to the world. Ellen shook her head in disbelief.
"Christ dad..." Ellen answered. "I know you usually have a plan but I'm having some serious trouble figuring out what you were thinking bringing these folks with you!"
Mac shrugged and just followed Ellen as she went inside to assess the damage. What a mess. It would take hours to clean the tarp. And whoever gave the kid the gun to whack himself with was going to be the one doing the washing. But not before Ellen gave all of them a piece of her mind. If they were going to stay here, they'd better learn to behave!
"What a fucking shitshow!" Ellen said frustrated. "See, this is why we have rules in this camp and why we insist on letting capable people run this place! You were distinctly told that we'd handle the situation and that we'd make the guy as comfortable as possible. But that wasn't good enough was it? No, one or more of you decided the better idea was to let this guy redecorate the place with his brains! Well good job on the Extreme Home Makeover Post-Apocalypse Edition!"
As Ellen talked, she walked around with her hands to her sides, eyeing everyone, just like a drill instructor from the army would do. She was taught to be an officer after all, and right now she was acting like the lieutenant she was graduated as, albeit in her own way.
"So whoever did this; if you come forward now I'll consider not letting Charlie fuck you in the shitter with her strap-on til the cows come home!" Ellen said, but then paused immediately after saying it.
"Oh crap! Maybe it's only okay if Charlie says it!?"
Fortunately, Charlie went along with what Ellen said, pouting her lips and making two smooching sounds toward the group that was being berated. It was Classic Charlie. Ellen looked back at her father and couldn't help but wonder what her father would think about her smack talking. Mac just made a face that said 'ouch', but hinted at Ellen to continue.
"And considering the scarcity of livestock nowadays, that could be a very long time!" Ellen added.
"Nailed it."
Two of Ellen's guards blocked the entrance to the tent. They weren't about to let anyone out. Charlie licked her lips. Ellen just wanted to find out who was going to clean up the place.

"Ain't nothin to be sorry about. The kid got himself bit and he went the way he wanted to I suppose."
She shot a glance back to Lex who saw fit to interfere and hand Yuri the gun. He always did that somehow. He managed to weasel himself in now what was he going to do? Whatever it was, she wanted no part of it. As Logan and his daughters ran up, she exited out of the tent. She had nothing more to say. What was done was done and she just wanted a quiet moment alone. She wandered off, yet again, heading towards the back of the complex, passing Hykeem and Rochelle at the greenhouse and moving to where she heard the sound of rustling in some pens.
She almost cracked a smile as she looked down at the rabbits in their pen, hopping about and nibbling on hay and chunks of food that would fatten them up. The chickens clucked quietly as she hooked a boot into one of the slats that made up the pen. She leaned against the thin wood and just stared at the animals as they went about their business without a care in the world. They were penned up, yet they were so free.
"Ya'll are lucky. You don't have to deal with the bullshit," said to the rabbits as they nibbled, hopped and slept.
Carter watched as everything went by so fast. There were new arrivals, apparently Remy new one and didn't really like them. What Carter remembered the most was when he followed Yuri. As he fell down in front of him and threw up blood and puke. Everyone rushed in, drama happened. Then he was taken into a tent to relax.
Carter stood there on his own leaning against the wall. He thought about what could have happened if he hadn't thrown up. "Shit, he could have bit me as well, turned me into one of them" he said taking quick and short breaths. "Ugh, this is why I shouldn't trust anyone". The man leaned his head against the wooden wall and looked to the sky. He first thought of God, to some he was up there on a cloud looking over them. Where was he? Why didn't he help the ones down here? He shook his head and continued to look at the clouds, using it as a get away from reality.
Anthony spoke a few words about the kid, and a few words to Rem. This was not the same Rem he remembered, not at all like the take charge, in control of everything woman he ran with so long ago. The woman he cared for.... That was another life though. And it had been too soon for him, so he left. His time to reflect on the past was cut short when the other man introduced himself. "People calls me Lex." He said with a nod of his head. Whatever conversation might have been, was cut off when Logan and Ellen and the others entered the scene.
Ellen went into some kind of Drill instructor, the act might have worked on civilians, but Lex found her less than threatening. The threat of some little girl using a strap on, no matter how willing that little girl seemed to use it, just wasn't all that frightening. He would most likely break the girl. Still, he understood why she was trying to establish domination. Too many chiefs and the whole tribe fell apart.
"For fucks sake, save us the bad ass routine, it's not very effective. The gun belonged to the kid. I found him here with it. He wanted to go while he was still a fucking Human being. I wasn't about to try and take that from him, but I wasn't going to let the kid die alone. So I stayed here with him and watched him blow his fucking brains out with a smile on his lips. That what you wanna hear princess?"
So it was most likely NOT the best way to win the group over, but Lex had no intentions of being BFF's with this girl. He was here, and they had his shit. For now, he was a guest, or a prisoner... He wasn't sure which to be honest. But the 'tough guy' role served only to rub him the wrong way. His drill instructors were effective, because THEY got in your face, they threatened to rip your head off and shit down your throat, and you believed they would. This woman seemed to be talk. Her father, however.... He was one to watch.
It had been a long day for everyone, and tensions were running high. Lex raised a hand and ran his fingers through his hair. "I get it, you don't like us, we don't like you... And no one seems to trust anyone else." He had something in mind when he started the words. "But the kid offed himself with his gun. You took everything but my damn clothes, so it sure as hell wasn't mine. You wanna make him clean up his own mess, go right ahead. I'd love to see that one in action." Again, not the best way to make friends, but Lex wasn't here as a friend, he was here as a prisoner. One he was sure they would question later. Oddly, he found himself wondering how the Captain was fairing right now.
Lex was right--he'd been stripped. And Yuri did want to end it. And who could blame the kid? Anthony wasn't here when it happened, but the only logical conclusion was that Yuri had done it himself with his own gun. "Unless Charlie's into necrophilia...I don't think that's the right course of action, Ellen," Anthony let out. Immediately, he blushed. "I mean...it was Yuri's doing is all I'm saying. It's not this guy...not Lex," Anthony shot Lex a look.
He was actually thankful to the man for allowing Yuri to take his life into his own hands. Many people wanted to micromanage the kid's final moments. Lex let Yuri decide for himself, and Anthony respected that.
Veran had seen Lex come into the tent where the sick man was and sk he listened in. He couldn't hear much but from what little he did hear he could tell that the sickly one wanted to finish it. He saw no reason to interrupt that and so he stayed where he was. He looked back to the woman who had broken down.
"Might be me offer won't sound appealing to ye lass but if'n yer ever needin' ta talk about anything ye jus' need ta be findin' me. Promise if ye do I'll try ta help. A'fore this all I was almost a psychologist so I got experience talking 'bout people's problems."
He was about to get up when he realized this woman needed a warning about what was about to happen.
"I ain't sure but if I were a bettin' man I'd say that lubber who was sick has it in his head ta go out on his own terms."
After he said that he got up and walked out of the Tent. When the flap had swung shut behind him he heard the gunshot and once again the camp came to life in response to the sound. People came rushing and there were loud voices having a "discussion". The pirate saw no reason to get involved in that business and so he asked a guard where he could put his stuff and bed down. He wanted his weapons back but he distinctly remembered the woman who had led their greeting party going towards the gunshot. He figured he could always find someone to give him his weapons back in the morning.
Carter snapped out of it and looked around him. The exit was right there, not too far away. He was alone and that might not be for long, this was his chance. He slowly moved towards the exit, making sure no one saw him leave. He snuck out and stuck close to the wall. He moved next the wall until he found the direction he was supposed to go. "Here goes nothing". Carter ran as fast as he could to make sure the tower guards or anyone else for that matter didn't see him. He was finally out.

Remy could hear Ellen barking like a drill instructor from the medical tent. She furrowed her brow as she heard something about getting screwed in the ass by the angry looking lesbian named Charlie. She figured Charlie to be Ellen's right hand man, or perhaps she was something more?
"Great, a camp of militant rapists. What the hell is the place Logan brought us to?"
It made the thought of leaving even more appealing and she would have to think of a way to get out before she was the next one laid out on the table who was tortured and raped. It made her think about the girl in the woods and it made far more sense now. The girl was probably tied to the tree on Ellen's command and left to be an example. Now she had to think. If she were going to escape, would they hunt her down and do the same thing? If she were clever enough, she could talk her way out and by the time the next sun came down, it would be too late for them to find her. She knew going off on her own was going to be better. After Lex, she did it for months. No attachments, no feelings, no longings. That was the only way to survive now.
"Ugh, there's always one more asshole than you counted on!" Ellen thought to herself after Lex's typical 'bad-guy-wants-to-be-good' rant. Still, she was going to have to make an example of this guy. She wasn't going to make him stay but she sure as hell was going to make him clean up this mess.
Then the big guy from her dad's group spoke up, defending the badass wannabe. She was inclined to let it slide, but feared that people would think of it as favoritism because he belonged to her dad's group. Charlie seemed less forgiving however.
"Why I oughta..." Charlie murmured, taking a step towards Anthony, but she got kept back by Mac, who pushed her back again. Ellen however, wasn't done with Lex yet.
"Well then, since you're in such a helpful mood you wouldn't mind cleaning this place up then." Ellen smirked. "After that you can go wherever the fuck you want. If you do a good job I might just consider giving you your shit back."
Ellen then turned to Anthony. Part of her didn't want to punish her father's friend as well, but she had to keep this up for the sake of morale. She couldn't be weak, not after what Lex said.
"And seeing as you're doing your best to make new friends, it'd be real friendly of you if you give him a hand, don't ya think?" Ellen said to Anthony.
That was about the best she could do at this moment for her dad's friend. She hoped the guy, nor her dad would hold it against her.
"Alright, get the dead guy out and get to work on a pyre in the usual spot." Ellen ordered her guards. "Then get the Good Samaritan and his Apostle some cleaning stuff so they can get started."
Ellen walked toward the exit. The two guards at the entrance stepped aside for her. She turned around to speak to the two punished men one last time.
"And do a good job fellas." Ellen said. "I wanna be able to eat from the floor in here."
Ellen then turned to her father.
"Dad, I need to talk to you." Ellen said. "Come with me."
Ellen then moved aside the tentflap and went outside.
When Lex started mouthing off to Ellen, Mac wanted to step in to protect his daughter but, not much to his surprise, Ellen was able to fend off the guy's attack. When Anthony spoke up, making an attempt to defend Lex, Mac rolled his eyes. Seriously, hadn't Anthony learned by now?
As a result, Anthony got put to work cleaning the tent along with Lex. He knew he'd have to have a talk with Anthony about undermining Ellen's authority later on in private. Ellen's position was too important within the camp.
However, Mac also wanted to make clear to Lex that Ellen was not someone to be messed with. And that she had a father who could hurt him in ways he could only imagine if he messed with his daughter. Lex calling Ellen a princess had given Mac an idea. He casually stepped up to Lex and spoke up to him in a softened voice.
"Funny you'd call her a princess." Mac said. "Thing about princesses is that they're usually the daughters of kings."
Mac spoke in a calm, but yet mildly intimidating tone. He wanted Lex to know he'd be watching him, and he'd hurt him if he dared to mess with Ellen again.
"So I suggest you start behaving like a loyal subject and treat her like royalty." Mac continued. "You don't want to suffer the King's wrath, now do you?"
Mac gave Lex a faked friendly tap on the shoulder and walked toward the exit. He looked at Anthony as he passed him on the way out.
"You just couldn't help yourself huh?" Mac said to Anthony. "Good job, really... Well done."
Mac then continued outside and followed Ellen to wherever it was she was heading.
Ellen had volen-told Lex's services in cleaning the blood off of the ground. He was about to tell her to clean it herself when she walked off. Whatever else might have followed was cut off further by her father coming over to share words with him. Talking of princess' and kings, and how Lex should be a good subject and obey and treat them like royalty. With a pat on the shoulder, Logan was gone. "Like hell I'll treat you lot like royalties." He said. The thought seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth and he spit out on the ground. He cast a glance to Anthony. "Thanks I guess, but I wouldn't be here when the cleaning crew shows up." He told the man. His plan was to not be here when the goon squad arrived. If Anthony was smart, he wouldn't be either... but then the man had spoken up for him, so maybe he wasn't all that smart.
Anthony sighed. He hadn't meant disrespect to anyone, and he shouldn't have made the necrophilia joke. And though he hadn't been in the tent when it happened, it only made sense that Yuri had chosen to take his own life. Lex wasn't armed. No way could it have been him. And Ellen was...so prepared to start a witch hunt. The only person to blame was Yuri, but "blame" seemed to be far too harsh, considering the young man elected only to take his own life.
As Mac and his daughter made their way out of the tent, Anthony turned to Lex, who'd already starting muttering in defiance, saying he wouldn't treat them like royalty. "No one's trying to oppress you, Lex," Anthony assured the man. "But Ellen's in charge, and we'd do good to follow the rules around here. We just got here, after all. Let's prove we can be team players, huh?" Anthony shot Lex a smile, which proved difficult considering the circumstances of the conversation.
"You can do whatever you'd like, but I knew Yuri. I owe it to him to clean up this place. And I think we owe it to Ellen to do as she asks. They could have shot us at the gates," was all he said as he made his way to the other side of the tent and grabbed a mop. "Someone's gotta do it, why not us?" By then, someone had arrived with a bucket of soapy water, and Anthony dumped the mop into the bucket, sopping up the blood.
Even though there were pools of blood and a hole in Yuri's head, the kid seemed more at peace than ever. He'd escaped--finally. Anthony was proud of him for that, and in a way he envied him. If Anthony was bit, he'd want a way out as well. But he'd want to make the decision for himself, not have men like Luca try to blow his brains out with a .44. Or anyone to try and run experiments on him.
Veran had found the showers and that was the most satisfying 5 minutes he had been able to enjoy for months. He hadn't had a proper shower since everything fell apart. Sure he had been able to wash himself in a river or lake here and there but the act of showering made him feel slightly more human. His clothes were still dirty and grimy and he would have to wash them sooner or later but for now he was happy. It was time for him to explore this camp a little more. He hadn't seen anything quite so magnificent since the dead had started walking and if he had the right inclination this place had been around almost since the beginning.
He re dressed and just started wandering. Some of the first things he saw were the food prep areas and thus the kitchen. He had already claimed a place to rack out and though he was tired it was more important for him to familiarize himself. He was truly impressed to find a place with live animals. It floored him how much they had managed to do and it baffled him that they had been able to hold onto it for so long without everything falling apart. Either from within or from the outside. He was about to head on when he saw the woman who had attacked Lex and decided to approach her. He had heard that she had wanted to experiment on Yuri and that intrigued him. She must have been some type of scientist before all this.
"Heard ye wanted ta some testin' on that lubber what been bitten. Might be I have some thoughts on what things we might try. Er well the 9th er guy might 'Ave some thoughts. If'n yer wanting ta listen might be we could come up with something. "

Remy heard the footsteps approaching from behind, but she didn't bother to look. As long as it wasn't one of the militant rapists, she didn't care. Even then, she could hold her own even without a weapon. If she couldn't then she resigned herself to the fact that her time had come. She felt like she had been walking between raindrops for almost too long now anyways.
"Drop the fucking voice or just walk away."
She had no desire to deal with this man's tomfoolery and his silly accent that he claimed he used to cope with what happened. If he did it for a few weeks, that was fine. He did what he had to do. But now it was time to man up and deal with everything that happened to him. He wasn't a toddler after all.
