Once an abandoned military airfield, Hunter-Liggett has become home to several dozen pilots, mechanics, former soldiers and other survivors who have joined together under the leadership of Thomas Kane...their goal: to create a post-apocalyptic version of the African Flying Doctors and hopefully someday link up the strongholds on the West Coast as one.

Located on the California coast northwest of Los Angeles, the former palatial estate of media magnate William Randolph Hearst is now home to a small band of survivors led by former journalist Sarah Lyell. To the outside observer, San Simeon appears like an abandoned paeon to an opulent past; to those living there, it is a place of solace, a place of sanctuary in the midst of chaos.
