The knife work was simple, to the point. He killed the walkers the way they needed to be to be killed without wasting a lot of energy with useless movements. Two dropped and the horde was gone. He took a moment to look around. They didn't seem to have anything of value on them. He bent down to wipe his knife clean of the blood and sheathed it. "The noise would have attracted a lot of attention, Walker or otherwise, we best be moving." He rose to his feet, "You bitten?" He asked the man before him, Once it was clear they had not been bitten, they made their way down the trail with renewed pace. Lex could only hope that traps had not been placed out. How shitty would that be to have your leg clamped down around while running to avoid a horse of walkers? He didn't want to think about it. With snow like this, he'd never be able to spot a trap anyway.
"Kraken's balls! Ye must be walker bait. E'ry time I find ye the dead be all over us."
Oh well, the lubber was right about one thing. They had to move, and they had to do it now. Everything for miles would be coming after them, dead or otherwise. He wiped his saber off as he ran. No need to let the thing rust from blood. He quickly sheathed it and caught up to the lubber.
Ellen rushed to the wall once more. Shots fired, again? Had her father been so uncareful as to have another tail apart from the Rochelle girl? Was her old man getting sloppy? Couldn't be!
"Shots fired! Repeat, shots fired!" Ellen spoke over the comms. "I need the QRF assembled at the gate and the wall manned! Start camp blackout, repeat start blackout! Get the medbay prepped for casualties!"
She caught up to Charlie who was making her way to the gate as well.
"What the fuck El!?" Charlie spoke. "Again!? Has someone been putting up signs!?" "You'd think they did right?" Ellen answered. "Think they also followed your old man here?" "That's possible but unlikely. Let's go find out!"
Both girls ran to the gate where the rest of the QRF had already assembled. Her dad and sister had come running as well.
"Ellen? What's going on?" Mac asked. "I heard shots?" "Don't know dad!" Ellen answered. "We don't have anyone out there at the moment, more unknowns! We're gonna go find out, you and Anne-Marie should..." "I'm coming Ellen! Anne-Marie, stay here!" "But dad!" "No buts, I'm coming along!" "Dad, I wanna come too!" Anne-Marie said. "No, stay here Anne-Marie!" Mac answered his youngest daughter. "We'll be back, I promise!"
Ellen and Anne-Marie both knew that arguing with their father was useless, so Ellen didn't went in discussion with her dad and Anne-Marie did what she was told. Ellen moved in front of the 12 people that made up the camp's QRF.
"Alright, we've got more incoming!" Ellen said. "We're not expecting anyone and we have no people out there at this moment. Same as before, assume hostiles! Lock'n load and keep a staggered formation! Move out!"
The QRF made their way to where the shots were fired from, and when she saw two people she made the group halt and look for cover. Charlie stuck her head out for a quick peek and then made a surprised face at Ellen.
"Is that...? Is that a fucking pirate?" Charlie whispered.
Surprised by Charlie's comment, Ellen stuck her head out for a quick peek as well.
"What the fuck?" Ellen whispered.
Yet, she knew that whether or not this idiot was dressed up he could still be a threat, and so could the man who was with him. She handsignaled the QRF to form a line of fire, which they did. Her father gently moved over to Ellen.
"What is it hon?" Mac whispered. "Got two guys, one dressed as a pirate." Ellen whispered back. "A what...?" "A fucking pirate dad!" "You gotta be kidding me!"
Mac stuck his head out for a quick peek as well and couldn't believe what he saw. In his 20 years of military service and 8 years with the CIA, he had never seen such a thing.
"Yup, that's a pirate alright." Mac whispered. "Alright sweetheart, what's the plan?" "I shoot, Charlie does the talking." Ellen answered in whisper. "Then we'll see if they'll cooperate." "And if they don't?" "Let's just hope it doesn't come to that. Alright, everyone ready? Here goes."
As her father took cover as well, Ellen looked through the scope of her rifle and aimed at a nearby tree. Gently squeezing the trigger, her M14 rifle spewed out a bullet that tore its way into a nearby tree. After the shot, Charlie started speaking.
"Stop right there!" Charlie yelled. "Twelve people have taken aim at you at this moment, so don't move! State your numbers and business!"

Remy heard the gunshots also. Logan came running out from the tent to make sure he could back up his daughter if they were under attack. There wasn't much she could do, gun-wise, so all she could do was observe, like everyone else. She saw where Nate had climbed up a ladder to get to a makeshift ledge that ran along the length of the fence. She stood at the top of the ladder and looked down to see two men near the entrance of the camp.
"What the hell?"
One of them was dressed like someone who forgot to change his costume during Gasparilla and the other looked like a normal fellow. She stood there, watching to see what would happen next. If they were just two wanderers who happened upon the camp, then so be it. If they were two bandits then they were as good as dead. She was too far away to see exactly who it was down there, but that surprise would come soon enough.
A shot had been fired and neither he nor the Cap pulled the trigger. A tree they ran past splintered as the bullet drilled into it. He grabbed The Cap with one hand while freeing his pistol with the other. "Down!" He said as he forced the man to the ground, he knew from where the bullet had come, but not who shot it. A voice called out, twelve men armed and locked on them. "Shit..." He said just above a whisper. Why was it when the Cap was around trouble followed... Granted, he had no idea just how much trouble was waiting 'round the bend. He played out the options in his head, looking around for a way out, but nothing stuck out right. "Listen, were're travelers, just passing by. Don't mention that we were looking for their camp, I've a feeling that'll end badly for us, understand Cap." He said quietly, watching the man for a sign that he understood. In truth, Lex had no idea how they would react to the knowledge that people were talking about this place, but he knew he wouldn't exactly be thrilled about it if the rolls had been switched. People talking meant people coming, and people coming meant more mouths to feed. Which in turn meant less food, supplies... and anything else that could go wrong. He knew if people were talking about his fortress, he'd begin preps of barring it off to anyone. Safe bet was to act like they were simply passing through. Wrong place wrong time stories went well with kind hart-ed people. People who would take great pains to protect their own. He would not blame them for that, but an ill timed bullet now wasn't something he wanted either. "Alright!" He shouted out for them to hear. "Don't shoot, it's just the two of us!" That part was true at least. He rose to his feet, placed his pistol back in it's holster and raised his arms. He could only hope that The Cap would be smart enough to do the same. "We're just passing through, we were attacked by Walkers, not bitten. Don't shoot!" He knew when to fight and when to surrender, and twelve unseen men against two out in the open was a losing battle he didn't want to have to chance. The odds were not in his favor. He was cold and covered in snow, and would probably soon be disarmed and stripped of his supplies... How much worse could this day get? He'd soon find out...
Veran obediently hit the ground when Lex pulled him down and he nodded to the lubber when he said that they should be traveler's who just stumbled upon this place. If they seemed to have a plan to find this place they could be easily seen as bandits or thieves, and that most certainly would not end well for the ragtag duo. A settlement couldn't afford to let bandits go who knew where they were. At very least if they were bandits they would be imprisoned. More likely that they would be shot on sight with no other questions asked.
"Ain't no need ta be shootin' us. We don't mean ye no 'arm. We was lookin' ta find somewhere ta bed down for a night. Got a whole group'a walkers stirred up an had to run fer it."
though on the ground he kept his hand close to his Beretta. If things went south he knew he wasn't making it out of this but he would sure as hell try and go down fighting if he had to. These people seem extremely organized, not like a lot of the groups that he had stumbled upon in his wandering. The other groups always seemed to be barely holding on. These folks seemed to be almost thriving in this crazy world. If they truly had 12 guns pointed at them right now that was an impressive number. Especially with the fact that this was such an unexpected situation and thus unless training was happening such a response would be nigh impossible.
"Ye have us dead ta rights lubber. I got ta believe there still be good people in this blasted world. I'm about ta be standin'. I'll keep me hand off me weapons but this snow be drenchin' me coat."
The pirate stood to his feet and put his hands behind his back, not in a surrender position but something more akin to a navy "at ease" position. He looked around to try and see if he could see where the voices were coming from.
Ellen and Charlie made quick eye contact as both intruders gave themselves up. Ellen had a little bit of a chuckle when she heard the pirate guy talking. The other guy seemed more normal. She tried to remember if there was an asylum nearby, maybe the pirate had been there before the outbreak. She couldn't think of another reason why anyone would want to dress like that.
"Alright, we're coming out!" Ellen shouted. "Hands where we can see them and don't try anything stupid or we will fire!"
Ellen looked at her father who gave her a nod, and then gestured at the QRF team to stand up. All 12 members came out of hiding, guns drawn at the two intruders. They weren't about to let up until the two were disarmed. Mac moved up with the QRF team and got in position to the side of the two intruders, keeping a distance just like the others. He trusted his daughter enough to handle this situation, but if things went south, he could easily mow the intruders down. He figured it shouldn't have to come to these kids to kill people, especially not Ellen.
Ellen put the scoped M14 on her back, but kept her right hand on the M9 Beretta in her leg holster just in case, just like she always did.
"Welcome to Bear Lake." Ellen said. "You will find civilization here. For ours and your own safety we ask that you surrender your weapons in an orderly fashion. These will be returned to you later. We will take you to our camp where you will be subjected to a medical examination, so no holdouts or we will know. If you find this to be fair; please comply. If not, we ask that you turn around and leave this place behind."
Whether they decided to cooperate or leave, someone was going to follow them regardless to make sure they weren't part of a larger group. It was a chance Ellen was not willing to take for the good of the survivors. But for the good of all, she hoped these two would comply unconditionally even though she was probably going to catch hell for bringing more people in. But then again, what else was new right?
Lex didn't like the idea of giving up his weapons, and made no attempts to hid the look on his face, but after a moment, the former soldier gave a nod of his head. "Very well." He said, "We'll disarm, just don't fucking shoot us while we do." He waited for one of the QRF guys to come near before pulling free his sawed off shotgun and handing it over, next was his pistol, and then his knife. "That's it for me." He said, while he still had his back pack, it was supplies, a flashlight rations, things like that. No weapons in there. He wasn't sure if they would want that either, but rather than risking a butt stroke to the head or gut, he removed it to be safe and handed it over. "That's everything, hope you're happy." HE said to the QRF fella that had taken all his things. So now they would be forced to go into the camp. He looked to the captain, hoping he would follow in suit. If the man lost more of his mind and had the sudden urge to fight back instead of walking the plank, Lex wanted to see it, and stop it. No way he was dying for this man, or any man for that matter. Lex was a survivor.
The pirate was reluctant to hand over his weapons. He had been on his own so long and had never once relinquished his weapons before, however he was not exactly in the best position to negotiate. Twelve guns pointed at either himself or Lex would mean that they were gonners for sure. Hell half that many weapons would probably do them in. They were cold and had been running from walkers. Ultimately his decision was made for him. With the walkers that must have been alerted to their shots, the cold, and everything else that could go wrong out there he was in no place to survive on his own again right now. With such a large settlement they had surely picked clean most of the surrounding area. He reached down to start undoing his belt so he could hand them most of his weapons in one go.
"Jus undoin' me belt so as I can hand ye the whole blasted thing at one time."
After he had handed over his belt, with his saber, Beretta, and dagger along with it he grabbed the marlins pike off of his bag and handed it over as well.
"Me bag stays with me. Ye can search it if'n that be what ye need ta do but I won't turn it over. Savvy?"
After he had handed over his weapons he prepared to follow them into the camp. Now that he was defenseless there wasn't a thing else he could do. At least the woman who had been doing all the talking since all the guards came out was attractive. After so long wandering with nothing to look at but walker's and more walker's it was nice to have something more appealing to distract oneself. He tried not to stare too long as he was sure that the woman would think it was rude, and she might even take it as a threat.
"Can't believe how organized yer camp is lass. Must a took a fine lick a work ta put all this together. Ye been 'ere from the start or some such?"
Ellen chuckled again at the pirate's speech, letting out a laugh but trying to cover it up with a cough. She looked at Charlie and Nathan who appeared to have difficulty to keep themselves from laughing as well.
This guy could not be serious. Ellen looked at the other intruder, the normal one, with a face that simply begged an explanation as to why his companion looked and acted like a pirate before shaking her head in disbelief.
"Yeah... I can't do this." Ellen said somewhat laughing to Charlie. "First it's the dead walking around, then those yahoos in the Confederacy uniforms... What's next? Sparkling vampires? The friggin' Loch Ness monster in the lake? Doc Brown and Marty McFly in the DeLorean?"
More guards started snickering behind the sights of their rifle at Ellen's remark until finally a few bursted into laughter, but nevertheless they kept their weapons trained on the two intruders.
"Look fella, no offense but... are you fuckin' serious right now?" Ellen asked. "Because if you are and you have a ship, that'd be great!"
Ellen then turned at the other guy, maybe he knew what was going on.
"Is he serious?" Ellen asked the normal guy. "Where the hell did you pick him up? Some kinda psychiatric ward? I mean, I know these are crazy times but come on!"
When Carter asked if he knew if the camp had food, he shrugged. "I don't know, I've not had much time to check out the place, but I'd imagine that they'd have quiet a lot of food to feed this whole place". Yuri turned away for a moment and felt a strange feeling in his stomach, he held it for it a moment and tried to walk it off. Then he felt warm, too warm for this temperate. His first instinct was to check his forehead if he had some sort of fever, he was sweating badly, he had been the entire time and he hadn't even noticed. He stopped in his tracks as the feeling got worse and worse. He bent over and opened his mouth, throwing up. He fell to his knees along with the puke and continued a bit more. He felt something sticky in his throat and it was slowly coming out. He felt it come out of his mouth and onto his puke, it was blood.
The man had stopped throwing up, but he just knelt down looking at it, thinking about what the reason was for this. He was panting for the breath he had lost while throwing up, Yuri didn't move a muscle.
"Well lass if ye must know I had a ship. Fine vessal too. Kraken's balls! At was a'fore I found out that it didn't matter wether ye was bit er not. Me crew came down with scurvy, well a couple of em anyways. One of the lads died an started munchin' had ta take ta ole girl inta port all by me lonesome."
He had expected the laughing. When not in life and death situations it was a reaction he got a lot from people. They always thought that he was funny. Of course he knew... that he wasn't real, but he couldn't let himself think that. Couldn't remind himself that there was another that deserved this body more then he did. The other one can't handle this world. And what would he think now that they had strayed so far from Florida where their son was.
"It might be that me an you could 'ave a parley quick like'bout some things? like jus a few steps way from yer boys. Might be I could clear yer mind a little bout me own situation. Savvy?"
Ellen just stared blankly at the pirate, as she couldn't tell what in the hell he was on about. She looked behind her at Charlie and Nathan, but both of them shrugged. Neither of them had an idea as to what the guy was on about. Ellen just stared at the man again.
"What?" Ellen asked. "What the fuck are you on fella?"
For some reason, Ellen believed that this guy believed that he was an actual pirate. That would make him a nut and a liability for the other survivors within the camp, as she just couldn't risk him swashbuckling around the place endangering others.
"Ugh... just cuff him would ya Charlie?" Ellen said to her XO. "And pray someone in camp knows something about this kind of disorder."
Ellen couldn't wait to make this guy dr. Harding's problem. Or at least have her determine that this guy would at least not be a dangerous nut. Charlie obeyed Ellen's order and got out a pair of zipcuffs, walking over to the pirate.
"ARRRight, hands behind your back Calico Jack." Charlie said somewhat mocking. "I'm gonna put these miniature portholes around your wrists for a while until we determine that you don't go plundering our booty's."
As Charlie occupied herself with the pirate, Ellen gestured at the normal guy to come over.
"You, come here." Ellen said. "Maybe you can tell me what's going on."
"Just when you thought you've seen it all..." Mac muttered as his daughter dealt with the whole situation.
The way he saw it, this guy was either nuts or running away from something. That would definitely explain why he dressed up as someone else and pretended to be something he's not. The question remained whether or not this guy was dangerous; but finding out sure was going to be entertaining.
The other guy on the other hand seemed to cooperate a bit too quickly after Mac's taste. He surrendered without any questions asked. To Mac; this was a sign that this person knew very good what he was doing, and that he was smarter than he was letting on. In a way, the pirate-guy was easier to read than this one, so when Ellen told the guy to come over Mac walked back to his oldest daughter and stood beside her, waiting for the guy to do as he was told.
"Watch this one sweetie." Mac said softly. "He's being far too cooperative. Be careful."

Remy climbed down from the ladder as the two were brought in and as soon as she heard the one man speak, she knew they were in for..well...something. Maybe he would be the one they would let her experiment on. She came up behind Logan and whispered with a bit of a chuckle.
"I'm looking pretty normal now, ain't I?"
However, when she looked beyond Logan, she saw him. She saw Lex. Pain turned to anger and anger turned to her inability to stop herself.
"What the fuck? I know him. I know him!"
She charged at Lex like a rabid wolf and using both hands, she pushed into his chest, looking to knock him clear on his ass. Her icy eyes were filled with rage as if a clear blue sky had suddenly turned black with storm clouds. Lex fared lucky this time since her bat was back on her cot, otherwise she would have nailed him right upside the head with it and not thought twice about it.
"What the hell are you doing here? You come to try and clean this place out too you fucking coward? You follow me just to pull what you pulled again? Answer the damn questions LEX."
She turned and looked at Ellen as her finger pointed the man she would forevermore call bastard.
"You can't trust him. Not for one damn second. You give him an inch of trust and he'll steal everything within a mile around you."
As Remy lost her shit, Mac put himself in front of Ellen and watched it go down. Apparently his group member had some history with the man and from what Remy said; it wasn't too pretty. She spoke of him stealing something and there was plenty of stuff in the camp for him to take. He knew the guy gave himself up too quickly.
In an instinctive reaction, Mac aimed his silenced Honey Badger assault rifle at the one called Lex.
"Get back Remy." Mac said. "We'll deal with it. Ellen, have your guys secure him."
Ellen unholstered her M9 Beretta handgun and kept it to her side. Her dad had already aimed his assault rifle at Lex and her guards had followed in his example. Charlie, who stood by the pirate, zipped his hands behind his back and then aimed her handgun at the pirate's head just in case he was to have any funny ideas.
"I can't get one quiet day to enjoy my family's reunion can I?" Ellen said as she came out from behind her dad. "Should've been a goddamn farmer! Now one of you start speaking before I really lose my shit!"
After her sister and father left to find the intruders, Anne-Marie had gotten her gear out of the armored SUV and kept her Vector SMG with her the entire time. It didn't take long for them to come back, but once more shit went down. Remy lost it because of one of the intruders, at least that's what it looked like.
Anne-Marie walked next to Yuri when she saw the triggerhappy Russian fall to the ground and puke up a load of blood before lying still. For a second, Anne-Marie pondered on what to do but then took the safety off from the Vector SMG and aimed it at Yuri's head. This guy was turning and she needed to act quick. But was she really going to kill him when he was still a human being? Could she do that? It was not a decision she was ready to take yet.
"GUYS!" Anne-Marie yelled. "GUYS! SOMEONE! GOT ONE TURNING HERE! HEY! SOMEONE COME HELP ME!"
More of the camp's survivors gathered around but stood idle.
Anne-Marie put her finger on the trigger and started squeezing it gently, yet something kept her from pulling the trigger completely. Still, she knew she had to make the shot if no one else came.
First a gun shot that cause every guard to go running out, now someone was screaming for help. This group handbt even been here a day before all hell broke loose. They definetly werent off to a good start, this did not set a good example of them. Nate wondered what the council would think of all this.
He hobbled over to where people had gathered. Apparently someone had turned. Either the doc was gettig sloppy and he was bit, or this had just gotten a lot worse. He edged toward the girl in the centre, the one pointng a gun at her dieing group member. Nate had his ax at his side and would use it if he had to.
"Looks like your friends not going to make it," he said calmly. "Don't shoot him, it'll just draw more near, the other gunshot was bad enough."
Yuri continued to breath heavily and felt the presence of guns aimed at him. At this point in time, Yuri was still worried and scared about what was going to happen when he went. He wasn't surprised that Anne-Marie was the first one to aim at him, but was surprised she hadn't shot yet. Instead of just kneeling over his own puke and blood, he decided to sit down on the ground. That was then when another man he hadn't met yet told the girl not to shoot him. It seemed he wasn't turing yet, just the pre-fever. "Back... back in Texas, you know when the biters attacked? The one that jumped on me took a small bite on my arm" Yuri stopped for a moment and lifted his shirt sleeve up revealing the bite. "I didn't know if it would still affect me or not, I supposes I got my answer". He just sat there in silence.
