Smokey, as the man had introduced himself, admitted to not having any coffee, but did have some whiskey. They wasn't really the point.
"I'd just drink the wine if that was my intent. It's nice to see people relaxed, but we can't lower our guard... We don't know what's out there after all."
The man said he had not seen Dallas before now and asked if he had been downstairs. That was one way to put it.
"Umm.." He cleared his throat.
"Yeah... Yeah I was." There was also the bit about Remy joining him in his shower. But he wasn't going to talk about it. If Remy and Luca wanted to pretend nothing happened, that was okay with him.
"The banging was a woman trying to get in. She lived here once, before the world went to hell." He gave the man a nod and walked over to Candy, taking a kneeling position he told her he was going to see if the new comer had sugar, and maybe a night shirt for the girl to sleep in. Asking if she wanted to come with him. If not she was more than welcome to stay here until he got back. He didn't think he'd be gone long anyway. How long would it take to ask for sugar?
With or without the little girl by his side, Dallas set out to leave the apartment and go down one flight of stairs. He would knock on the door and wait for her to answer before asking for the shirt and sugar. God he hoped she had sugar. He really wasn't looking forward to drinking this shitty coffee straight.... Too much time to think about it. He knocked again, not really knowing what to do. Who the hell knocked these days anyway? He felt a bit foolish.
There was a time where you could be shot just walking into someone's place. That was still the case now, but you didn't knock. You went in with guns drawn and hoped you could shoot them before they shot you. Not that he had any plans of shooting this woman. He just wanted sugar, and something the little girl under his charge could wear for the night.
