Damon had been scrolling through an old newspaper dated days before the start of the outbreak until Sam returned. He took another sip of his beer and sat content and happily as she took a seat. He was near finishing the bottle and then heard her ask what to do now "Well... for me its my first night inside for a few months, six and a half I think."
He looked inside his bag and found some canned food and crackers. He counted the beer he had found in the apartment and looked around the room "We'll some food and drink would be a start... It'll be dark soon but the owners had some candles... Seem good for now?"
He placed the cans on the table besides the beers. "Could even heat stuff up if I build a safe little fire".
June watched Sasha enter the shower and went back to her seat to continue eating. She thought about introducing herself to Aron, but Smokey was already talking to him, and she thought it'd be rude to interrupt. Candy seemed preoccupied as well. With a toaster of all things. Heh, reminded her of the Brave Little Toaster. Good movie. June missed TV.
When Sasha came back she talked about hearing a noise. June didn't hear anything at first, but after Smokey and Aron, she heard it, too. Didn't sound like Lily this time, and it sounded like it was coming from outside. June kept her voice low as well.
“If they keep making that noise it will be walkers banging on the door.”
June put her things down and went over to Remy's bedroom door and opened it as quietly as she could, surprised to see that Remy was on the bed instead of in the shower, however that worked in her favor.
“I-I'm sorry to barge in like this,” she whispered, “but there's someone banging on the door outside.”
Sam watched him reading the paper, and then smiled as he took a sip of his beer," isn't that dangerous, what about the stove, if it isn't electric it might work still." She saw him take out the cans and stood up to go into the kitchen," did you check the cupboards?" She stopped and froze and stared down at him," you hear that? Seriously, I think the drugs are hitting me hard cause I thought I heard banging." She moved over to the open window and listened, then started waving her hands frantically at him," someone is out there, Damon, what do we do?"
The job was easy. Search the building and adjacent buildings for water and any other useful supplies. Anthony was a bit surprised that Remy had tasked him with doing so. Anthony was far from the best shot, the fastest, or the strongest. She must have trusted him, and Anthony appreciated that. And Anthony did have the blue-black rifle that had once belonged to Adolphus, and that was more than powerful enough to deal with a few walkers.
Sweeping Remy's building was easy, but also fruitless. They'd searched all of the apartments on their way up, and had found nothing of use. Anthony did manage to find two bottles of water and some old granola bars--probably stale--and shoved these into his backpack. Now came the hard part. He'd have to be slow and careful in the building across the way, in case of walkers or other hostile inhabitants. The street between the apartment buildings was empty, spare the vehicles they'd all used to get here. Upon their arrival, their group had increased once again, with new additions like Smokey and Jackson. Anthony hadn't spoken with either, but both seemed fine enough. This may be a place they could settle down for a while.
The front door to the neighboring building was unlocked, as to be expected, and the interior was nearly identical to Remy's building. It wasn't in ruins, as one may expect. Rather, it seemed uninhabited. No walkers, no humans. At least, that's how it seemed. It did not take long for Anthony to realize such was not the case.
The first room was all Anthony needed. It was filled with non-perishable food and water. Enough for his whole group, really. This place was inhabited, to be sure. It was then Anthony heard the whispers in the corner. He gripped his rifle tighter and his eyes widened as they latched onto the source of the whispers.
A woman and a young girl, presumably mother and daughter, were huddled in the corner. The girl was shaking--probably out of fear. The mother was whispering into her ear, trying to console her.
Anthony lowered Adolphus' rifle and tried to smile. "Hey, hey. It's okay...I'm a friend...I was just looking for some food and water,"
The woman snapped. "This is ours. You can't have any. It's for our family!" Her voice cracked on the last word, her eyes nearly bulging out of her head in anger, frustration, it was hard to say. Anthony stepped back at her harsh tone.
"There's enough here for everyone. We could help each other. We've got a big group, we can help--"
Before Anthony could finish his sentence, the woman screamed. "Chris! Now! Now, Chris!" Anthony turned just in time to see a man, presumably the woman's husband and the girl's father, run to Anthony from behind with a crowbar in hand. Without thinking, Anthony raised the rifle and pulled the trigger. The man fell, dead, shot in the chest.
"Daddy!" the little girl screamed in terror as she watched the life leave her father's eyes. The woman was screaming too, but no words just came out. Just screams. Anthony felt sick and his legs felt weak. He turned to leave the room, not knowing what to do. He was blown away. He'd just killed a man--an innocent man protecting his family--what could he do? But as Anthony turned to simply leave in awe, he realized he couldn't. The shouting and gunshot had attracted three walkers, who were now slowly coming down the hall, further attracted by the girl and woman's shouting and crying. Anthony slammed the door shut and ran back to the mother and daughter.
"You have to...you have to be q--"
"You killed him! You...killed him! Monster!" The woman pushed Anthony back, her sobbing continued. Anthony panicked. He had half a mind to go and shoot the walkers, but the gunshots in the empty halls may create an echoing sound to attract even more. And if the woman and her daughter continued making noise, the ones in the hall would find them. They needed to stop.
"I-I'm sorry. I...I never...I..." Anthony had nothing to say. He didn't know what to say. But he had to do something. "I..."
"Go!" the woman shrieked at Anthony, who recoiled once again. They weren't going to stop. Almost instinctually, Anthony gripped Adolphus' rifle tightly and raised it at the woman. He shed a single tear as he pulled the trigger and watched the bullet go through the woman's forehead.
One shot may attract the walkers, but not as much as continued screaming. This time, the girl fell silent, almost catatonic. Anthony and the girl exchanged glances, and the two simply stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. "She...she wouldn't be quiet," was all Anthony could force himself to say as he heard the walkers pass the door and continue along the hall. Anthony was safe to leave now. As the girl watched, her eyes glazed over, Anthony filled his backpack with as much food and water as possible. He had to leave, he had to get out of here. "I...I'm sorry..." Anthony finally let out as he closed the door behind him.
It was only when he was half-way across the street back to Remy's that he realized he hadn't shot the father in the head.

Damon grabbed his pistol "We can check it out if you want... Ill take lead, just be there encase someone tries to jump me". Damon stood and left the apartment speaking loud enough to suggest that everyone else could hear him on the second and third floor "I got this one!".
Damon quickly descended the stairs and kept his pistol ready. When he was on the ground floor he placed his eye through the peep hole to see a single woman. He turned to Sam and nodded before opening up his pistol at the ready. He stared at her for a few seconds before speaking. He was quite relaxed so was a bit less intense than normal "Yo... whats all the noise about and who are you? Not the original tenant of this place or something?"

Dallas stood there as Remy backed out of the shower. He took the towl and wrapped herself. Both of them as awkward about the situation as two hormonal teens with no clue what to do. The door was closed and Dallas stood there for a moment in the hot water. All at once a realization hit him...
"That was my towl...." He shouted out at the door. His head hanging with a great deal of sadness. As if someone had just knocked his icecream out of his hands. What was he going to do? The water was shut off and he climbed out of the shower. He opened the door and stepped out into the room. "You took my towl." He said to her before the door was opened and Ruby walked in on a naked Dallas and a Naked Remy wrapped in a towl.
His face went red, was everyone going to see him naked tonight!? She had mentioned banging downstairs before she saw them, might have meant trouble. So much for that relax fil shower...

Remy was trying to get herself together and was about to put her clothes back in when the strange woman poked her head in talking about someone banging on the door downstairs. She stood up and wrapped the towel around her tighter. Her hair was half damp, half dry when she looked at Dallas' friend and her eyes grew wide.
"What the hell now?"
Was anyone else going to come in at this moment? Was anyone else going decide to catch her in this very embarrassing moment? She was sure the entire lot of visitors were going to come in also. Just when she was certain it couldn't get any worse, she heard Dallas hollering from the bathroom that she had taken his towel. Technically it was her towel, but it was the only one in there, so he was the one that needed it. However, when he just decided to step out and declare that he needed it, dripping wet on the floor, the shock took over.
"Dallas! Holy shit! Go back in the bathroom!"
Now June was paying witness to this huge mistake and she was getting more and more agitated. She stood up and turned around to face the window. Who was this woman that stuck her head in the room. She was doing everything she could from exploding again and even though her voice tried to remain calm, she spoke quickly and it was clear she was tense.
"I don't know who you are, but this is my room and I would really appreciate it if you would just go downstairs and see what the noise is. Take Jackson. He should be in the hallway."
She looked over her shoulder, doing her best to keep herself hidden from view, but it seemed that was not going to be the case.
"At least let me put some clothes back on."
Where the hell was Luca? Why wasn't he the one in the shower instead of Dallas? She looked out the window again and just stared. Yes, it was a moment like this that could easily drive her away from people again. What she would have done to be alone again at this very moment. Jesus, this night was going to be awkward. She knew she shared a moment with Dallas when he found the baby in the crib, but this escalated far too quickly.
Sam stared at Damon. He was up, talking and moving. She ran to her pack and grabbed her pistol before running down the steps. She finally caught up with him and stood there , eyes wide. She was trembling a bit as the adrenaline flooded her system, mixing with the meds she had dropped earlier. She nodded as he spoke and eased next to the door. She was hidden from whoever he was talking to. Sam hoped this didn't end badly, she would hate to lose another one. She actually kinda liked this one too.
June didn't notice Dallas at first, until she turned her head and saw him naked in the room. June quickly covered her eyes with her free hand and pulled the door close enough to where there was only a small crack so they could still hear her at least.
“Sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean–!”
Oh, and now the scolding. That was nice. Seemed like a sound enough plan to get the leader of the group since nobody else knew what to do, but she hadn't expected to land in a fucking sitcom!
“I'm going. Won't happen again.”
June closed the door all the way and stood there for a moment processing what she just saw. Maybe it was a good thing Lily wasn't in the apartment.
'Should have knocked. Stupid, June. Stupid, stupid, stupid June!' she thought.
June walked back into the living room where everyone else was at.
“Remy said to check downstairs, so I'm going to grab Jackson and do that.”
With that June left the apartment and met up with Jackson. Guy looked like Rocky Balboa. June descended the staircase to the source of the noise to find Damon and Sam were already there talking to whoever was on the other side. June signaled for Jackson to be quiet. Staying out of sight from the person on the other side of the door. Whoever it was didn't need to know how many of them there were yet. Right now June would let Damon take care of it and back him up if needed.

Adjusting the dingy souvenir tiara atop her head, candy was looking closely over a spring she had taken from the toaster and where it had come from. Except for the shell, the toaster no longer resembled one. It all lay in organized piles.
Some sort of pounding noise and yelling muffled through the walls caught her ear. From what she could tell, the others already noticed it too. They're alarm raised alarm in her, and she looked around for familiar faces. That basically equaled Dallas and kinda June since Dallas seemed to know her.
Candy went back to examining the remains of the toaster, making an extra note or two. It was hard not to be distracted by the on going stir. June returned right about then, and it seemed a good idea Candy to follow her, if trouble was coming. She hopefully knew where Dallas was. Hopefully there would be time later to put the toaster back together, but that would take hours.... or days.
She left her mini-junkyard of toaster parts, hoping to come back to them later, and quietly followed June. She did take the pen and notepad with her. Candy hung back when June found Jackson. It wasn't to all were focused on Damon and the woman at the door that she came in and tugged on June's arm. The little girl's voice cracked soft and again almost inaudible,, in fact she would practically whisper her question to June if she could ”Where did Dallas go?”
Kim paced back and forth. Every so often she would bang on the door and call up. She knew they were in there, that someone was inside. They had to be. The doors were locked, but the windows were closed. Someone had to get the generator started, it happened in the last few days for sure, plus the water was running inside.
She was just about to bang again when the door opened, some scrawny punk looking man before her. He asked a question and Kim looked at him. "Actually I am the original tenant, or at least one of the last ones. I lived on the second floor, there should be pictures of me and my family up there to confirm," she said eyeing his gun.
"Listen I don't want trouble, I just want inside my place. You can have the rest, take what ever you want. I just need to get a few things and rest for the night."

When June finally backed out, apologizing for seeing what she had seen, she moved to the door, shut it and locked it this time. There was no need for anyone else to come running in to see what was going on. Maybe Luca decided to deal with the noise downstairs instead of coming up, which was just fine with her. He didn't need to know anything about what just happened between her and Dallas. She honestly had no idea how he would react. In time, she could laugh this off, as soon as she could see through the embarrassment of it all first. Maybe a bottle of wine could do that.
She turned back to a very naked Dallas who was standing there waiting. His face said it all as he looked at her, waiting for that towel, but she wasn't about to release it until she was fully clothed.
"Shut the door, dammit! I'll bring you the towel, but I'm not quite the nudist you are, Dallas."
She pushed the door a little more to force him back inside and finally removed the towel from around her body. She was on one side, he was on the other. She reached her hand around to hand him the towel. If he didn't take it, she would just drop it on the floor.
"Now stay in there and get dressed."
When she felt it was safe enough and her modesty was protected, she hustled to the closet, which, thankfully, was a walk in. It was dark in her room and she could barely see inside. Her hands fumbled through the hangers looking for something to wear and she came across a dress. It was a casual dress made of knit that she could just throw on. When she finally emerged from the closet, she saw it was a longer dress that came down to her knees, tight at the hips that flared out. It was a bright blue and she remembered the very shoes that she wore to match the dress. But those heels were not conducive to running around in an apocalypse.
Now that she was dressed, at least a little bit more, she felt more comfortable coming out and figuring out what to do at this point. She rifled around the underwear drawer, slipping on a pair of panties as she spoke to Dallas.
"We can't say anything about this Dallas. Not a word. Ain't nobody need to think we're carrying on like that."

Damon looked over his shoulder and shook his head grinning a second "Apparently she lived in the apartment on the second floor. Someone go grab some photos or get Remy... need proof one way or the other" He kept his gun aimed on her with the door still barely open.
He had noticed her look at his gun "Cant be that rare an event can it? Swear it used to happen every other weekend when I crossed Nevada. You knock a door or enter a building theres always someone holding a gun."
Post by Dallas Hatcher on Aug 30, 2015 11:46:35 GMT -5
Dallas went back into the bathroom and was handed the towl. He was nearly dried off when Remy spoke to him. He didn't know why, but her words really pissed him off. "YOU are the one that came in on me." He snapped angrily at her. This woman had the nerve to turn this on him? He didn't know why, but that pissed him off. He got dressed and placed his hand on the door.
"I hope you're ready, because I'm coming out. He was wearing a red tshirt and blue jeans, nothing so fancy as a dress. Remy looked good in it and Dallas forgot for a moment he was mad at her. "You look.. Nice." He said before clearing his throat and walking out of the room.
His eyes scanned for the little girl that had come in with her, but he couldn't find her. "Anyone seen Candy? Little girl about this tall." He motioned with his hand to the height the girl had been. She wasn't in the place. The man in the cowboy hat had said he saw her go outside with the others and Dallas rushed out the door. June could handle herself, nanotubes as well as some of the others, but she knew what she was doing. But Candy was just a little girl. He headed down the steps to the small group gathered at the base around the door. There he found the girl and heard a woman too. She claimed to have lived here. And she only wanted her stuff. Didn't seem to care about anything else.
"Let her in. What's one more stray?" He said to Damon. If the woman really lived here she had a right to the place. And if she only needed a place to crash, well... They all were I need of that. Letting this woman in was better than shutting her out to the world to keep banging and gather the attention of walkers, or worse... Other people. People like the old man they killed back OK.
June nearly jumped when Candy tugged on her arm. Where the hell has she come from? Well, okay, she knew where she came from, but how the hell did she sneak up on them like that? June brought a hand to her chest where her heart was now beating a little faster than normal.
“Lady, you can't just sneak up on people like that. That's a good way to get shot.”
It wasn't a threat. June didn't have a gun, anyway, but people were jumpy these days for good reason. That kind of stealth could come in handy, but not like that.
“Dallas is taking a shower, but don't go in there. It's rude.”
Speak of the devil and he'll appear. As soon as she said that Dallas showed up to weigh in on the situation. Damon wanted someone to search the second floor, and June figured it'd be quicker to do that than argue back and forth about letting her in. She sure as hell wasn't going to fetch Remy again after how well that turned out last time.
“No problem. I'll go up and check real quick. Come on, Jackson.”
June went back up to the second floor and began checking the rooms. So far, nothing. Her search eventually led her to one last door that was locked.
“Oh, you have to be kidding me!”
June tried turning the knob, but nothing. She ram her shoulder into the door, but nothing.
“Goddammit! Really? Of all the rooms you could have picked, you had to pick this one!?”
June kept ramming the door until eventually, a chair on the other end could be heard being moved and the door came open. June found herself staring right into a barrel of a 9mm when she caught sight of Lily on the other side, not wearing pants. Who had time for clothes anymore?
“June?”
“Hi. Sorry, I need to check in here.”
June slipped on past Lily and began looking around the apartment. Sure enough, there were pictures of Kimberly sitting on the table. She grabbed one and headed for the door.
“You either need to come upstairs, or find a new apartment, because the owner of this one is back to collect. And for the love of God put on some pants!”
June had seen enough naked and half naked people for night. Before Lily could argue, or say a word from the shock of seeing an old friend, June hurried back downstairs and showed the picture to Damon.
Lily couldn't believe her eyes. June was standing right in front of her. It's been so long since she seen anyone else from the camp besides Dallas. To think she was going to go searching for them at first sunlight, but one already found her. Lily lowered her gun and watched while she went searching in the apartment. Didn't they already clear the building?
“Jesus Christ, June, I almost shot you!”
June took a picture and mentioned something about the owner coming to collect. Lily was about to say something before she ran off downstairs. Yeah, she wasn't getting sleep. Why would she expect any less? Lily closed the door and went back into the bedroom. She put on her jeans and shoes, and put her weapon away in her back jeans pocket before exiting the apartment and coming downstairs to see the crowd that gathered. All of them she knew except for the woman outside, and the Asian.
“Has this group multiplied since I've been asleep?”

Luca had remained quiet as many new faces joined their group. Jackson, Smokey, and two new women. Rey was back in her bathroom, showering, Luca expected. Anthony was just returning from across the way, his backpack full of supplies. That was good. A pleasant surprise. It wasn't enough to outweigh Luca's anger with Holly and Andrei, as he'd overheard what they'd told Remy. Comparing him to Adolphus? Luca was nothing like Adolphus, and he was doing his best to improve. It had to have been his outburst back in Oklahoma, when he threatened to kill them. Yeah, that would do it. Still, they'd let Dexter live and he killed Grant. Was Luca really that bad for thinking it may be a bad idea to trust two people who traveled with Adolphus?
He shook his head after a moment, not wanting to dwell on it. It didn't matter. He'd prove them wrong. Anthony's demeanor as he returned was strange. He stared straight ahead, dropped his backpack, and sat down at Remy's dinner table. He didn't say a word. Maybe he was just tired, but, still, the man's demeanor was different. Luca didn't hate the man anymore, but he still held no love for him. If the behavior persisted, Luca would ask him about it.
Luca hadn't seen Remy in a while, and decided to go see how she was. As he approached the room, he heard Dallas saying she looked nice. Why had he been back there? And why was he complimenting her appearance? On his way out, Dallas passed Luca, and Luca nodded curtly. Dallas was freshly showered, his hair wet. As Luca entered Remy's room, he saw she was showered too. Had they...showered together? Luca's brow furrowed. Did they...? No. It couldn't have been. But, then again, Luca was't the best in this area...
"Hey, uh...you and Dallas...uh, have a nice shower?" Luca forced a chuckle so as to show he wasn't mad. He wasn't. He was just curious, and a bit shocked.

They hadn't assigned him any responsibilities, and they'd given away the position of the wine. This was easy as hell! Jackson sat at the dining table, drinking from the bottle. Watching. They were a disorganized group. If Acer and a few others came in guns blazing right now, they could take the whole group out with few--maybe no--casualties. They were all civilians, besides maybe one or two guys. A cop. Luca. He'd introduced himself. The only other name he knew was Smokey, as he was a newcomer as well. The name "Remy" had been tossed around, but Jackson hadn't met her yet.
A man entered, his backpack filled with food and water. He was clutching an assault rifle in black-blue camo. Jackson's eyes widened. That looked like the rifle that belonged to the guy who was in charge of that community in Florida that Jackson had stayed in. Could it have been? No, no way. Still, it intrigued him. The guy sat down at the table next to Jackson, but didn't say a word. He did not even look at him. "Well..." Jackson chuckled. "This is awkward...I'm Jackson." He smiled and extended his hand to the other man.

Damon observed the photo, whilst doing so he noticed Anthony returning. He then opened the door looking to Dallas "No harm in checking either. Seen far more innocent looking people try and screw me over." He then put his pistol away and turned back to Sam smiling quickly. He was not sure if he had to introduce this new person or if he could go back upstairs.
Kim looked at the guy and nodded. It wasn't that strange to answer the door with a gun anymore, or to be offensive doing so. She watched others come down, and a girl run off after her picture. A well looking, well built, guy came down and said to let her in. She couldn't believe it. Just like that, no questions on who she was, if she sas bit, nothing. They just let her in, just like that.
Kim tucked her hands in her jeans and looked at the guy, "I'm not the stray, this is my home." The girl returned with a picture of Kim. It was of her and her family. Kin remembered it was shot on her canera, the first picture taken from it. It was a gift from her parents, they had saved a year for it, and wanted to spoil her. She nearly refused, but it was already bought. They took the photo as a sign to celebrate and remember, but she didn't know why.
Kim took the ohoto from the woman and stepped in. He bag swayed and she looked at the scrawny punk looking guy. "Thanks, I guess." She looked at them all, "how long have you been here. Are there any of the original residents, or did you all just pick this place by chance." She moved further in, "are you in all the apartments, or just a select few. Cause I'd kind of like my own if that's alright. I'm a little behind on the rent, but I don't think that matter anymore."
