Remy sat on the floor with her glass of wine, taking a few sips as the others came into the living room. She was cozy enough with her legs tucked under her skirts and satisfied as she took bits of food off the table. Anthony walked over with a drunken stagger and plopped down on the comfortable couch and surprisingly Luca sat next to him. She wasn't sure what to think when he started singing, but she didn't interrupt. Anthony joined, then Jackson. It was a song she never heard before, or maybe she did and she just never paid attention to it. She listened to the words and she didn't like what they said. Maybe her discomfort was apparent as Luca chose this song, of all the songs ever written, to sing. Her gaze stayed low, fixed on the glass that her hand was tightly wrapped around. They finally finished their song and she heard the low chuckles of the shared moment while her gaze strayed to the window over her shoulder. She didn't like that choice of song, at all, but that sentiment would remain inside. She tended to get very quiet when she was upset at things and left those feelings bottled up. She would do the same in this situation.
When Lily and June came in talking about movies, it made her start thinking about all the things in the past that were long gone now. It was a nice distraction. There were no more movies to be made, no more music to be played and no more internet to browse. There were no more books to be written and published, but at least there were still books to be read. Not that anyone had time to curl up with one anymore. Surviving was more important.
"I miss live music here." She kept staring out the window, thinking of the little bar down the road that her and Lilly used to go to every once in a while. A woman named Colette owned the place and they would have live blues and jazz. She missed the sounds of instruments playing and people laughing and talking. It made her start thinking about the other things she missed when life was easy.
Her eyes slowly moved back towards those gathered as she leaned back on one hand, drinking a long, slow sip of the warm wine. Just from a few sips she could feel it going to her head and she knew it would only be a matter of time before she would be dead asleep. She enjoyed the warmth inside the wine brought though. It relaxed her and made her more easygoing. It made her want to be a little more social instead of running off by herself. That would come at first sunrise. At least this time, she would come back. She didn't want Luca to follow her though. She had things she needed to see and places she needed to go. If it wasn't dark out, she would have gone right after their shower. For now, she could wait. For now, she may get to know people around her a little better.
"What do ya'll miss most?" She looked directly at Anthony as she asked again. "What do you miss about your life before all this, Anthony?"
