Jay smiled slightly, relaxing under Sarah's hands. He was thankful that, other than Charles of course, that she was the only one to not see him as some kid. When he heard about the barn being crowded, front lawn and porch, so he decided to speak up.
"I can always sleep in a tree If that helps." he grinned an he fingered his goggles that lay around his neck.
"Oh, and Amber? Don't treat me like I'm some kid. I've seen things up close and personal. Burning bodies is a walk in the park for me. Yeah, I maybe sixteen but hey, in this world, age doesn't matter. So, if you be so kind not to underestimate me, it will be appreciated."

Becky had walked off with Sam. She didn't want to be there when they were discussing the leader stuff, that was their topic. Plus she wanted to get away from the buring bodies. Art was on top, she knew him, her dad knew him. He was te weird science kid from the nearest college, always had posters up for volunteers. He may have been a prick, and a creep. But they should have at least said something. SARAH was religious wasn't there a quote from God or something? Or was that all just for show, thought maybe God could save her if she wore that stupid cross.
She watched Charles and Sarah and look down at the ground. They were happy together, it made her stomach hurt to look at them. It was a pain of regret, and fucking up. She missed Thad, he was her rock, she felt alone without him. Sam was talking to her about somethig, but she didn't listen. Her mind was every where. "Let go gather everyone up," she said interrupting him, "while they decide we can get everyone ready."
Sam nodded and the pair went off. They started with the house, letting Louis and Kira know what was going on. Then they found Brian, told him to wiat out on the porch, so he didn't have to climb the stairs. Becky pulled Sam along to where Olivia, Penny, and Declan were working on the car.
"Hey they are thinking of having a group meeting, maybe you guys can just get ready, come over when you see everyone gathered." She smiled as she spoke. She quickly turned on her heels and went to the barn. She told the girls there, informing them to meet at the porch or the barn entrance. That they would call them when it was time.
When they were done, Becky and Sam rejoined with Charles and Amber. "Hey, yeah, so we told everyone about the meeting. So do we want to get started? I said we'd meet onh e porch. Less moving of people that way. Thought with Brian And the stairs. It's open, not cramped in the barn."
Charles looks around and nods to both Amber and Becky. It was good that everything was ready. He was sure that the rumors about what had happened were already spread around the farm. It wouldn't do to take any more time to figure things out. He went into the house quickly to let Brian know that they were starting the meeting.
"Hey Brian, I know you disagree with my decision about Art and I want you to know that I respect your opinion. Obviously don't agree with it but I respect it. That's not the only reason I came in. We are going to have a meeting to talk about what happened and I want you there. Also, have you seen Max and Abby. They should probably be there."
Brian looked up from where he sat in the living room. First Becky and Sam came in, then Charles. Both mentioned a meeting, he knew what about. They were going to talk about Art, and Charles killing him. He looked out the window and saw the black smoke, he put two and two together. If people weren't talkig before, they sure would be now.
He stood up on his crutches and limped toward the door. He looked at Charles, "thank you, your respect means lots to me," he said with a face of stone. He was still shaken from the death. It had been right in front of him, all over him. He couldn't stop it, or worse, he could but didn't. "I know you don't agree, it doesn't matter. What's done is done, I just won't let it happen again." He moved toward the door, "of course I'm going to attend. It's a family meeting after all, are we not all family now?"
He moved out the porch and sat in the seat out on it. He looke at Charles, "Max went out hunting, there was no stopping him, you know Max. Abby got worried, and went out after him. I sent Dean with her, they were going to search the woods for Max then return."

Amber looked at Sarah and Jay, but didn't say anything. She wasn't going to argue. It wasn't right to treat him like a kid, but he was one after all wasn't he? It wasn't that he was a kid, it was that Arthur had been one of them. She didn't even want Becky, Sam, or herself to see it. God help her if Louis saw it, he'd be a blubbering mess. She didn't wish that ion anyone, seeing someone they knew burn in front of them.
When they reached the front and Charles went inside Amber nodded to Beck, "I'll get the people from the barn, and you get Louis and Kira. Also call down Max and Abby. They should be here too." She looked at Sarah, judging her, she how she's react to her giving orsers to Becky. She had a feeling she didn't like her, but charles did, that was good enough.
She walked off to the barn and rounded everyone up. Then she went to the car. "Meeting time, let's go," she said calmly. After she Teache everyone they all gathered in front of the porch, a small mob of them. Amber climbed the steps and waited for the four leaders to join her.

Jay jogged over to Charles and stood beside him. Charles is one of the few people he trusts with his life, so being near him made him feel safe. It is probably because of how the older man reminded Jay of his father.
"Hey Charles...do you think we can go fishing after the meeting? if you have time of course."
Sarah released Jays shoulders as she watched everyone walking away. The meeting. She wanted everyone to get along, and this gnawing inside told her this was possibly too much to ask for.
She stood where she was for a few moments, long after the others moved away. Her belief in God was not for show. She actually sank down on her knees and prayed. She asked God to give these souls peace and to take each and everyone one into the folds of his flock. She asked for each soul on the piar to be taken into his kingdom and to be finally given the peace they could not find here on this world. She spoke softly, asking him for guidance And protection for the family. In the end she rose," thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. I thank you Lord for all you have done and all that you will do."
Sarah slowly turned and walked away. She had not felt it her place to offer prayer at first. She had waited to see if any of the others had anything they wanted to say. She was being respectful, not meaning to seem unkind in any way. She slowly made her way towards the porch. She looked around for Charles , then Max and Abby as she heard Amber say for someone to go and get them. Where were they? What did she mean, go get them? Sarah moved towards Charles. " what's going on? Where are Abby and max?"
Becky nodded as Amber gave her the orders. Though she would follow any order Charles or Max would give, Amber was her leader. She always had been, would fight and live for her.
Becky ran inside with Sam behind her. Becky move up the stairs and to the room Max and Abby had shared. She assumed they were in there, taking a moment after what just happened. She knocked on the door again and again.
When she didn't get and answr she joined back up with Sam, who was downstairs telling Louis and Kira the meeting was starting. "Let's go out front, maybe then we finally wrap up this day," she said with a sigh.
The four went outside, and Becky looked at Amber, "Max and Abby weren't inside. The room was empty." She moved down to the mob out front, waiting for the meeting to start.
"Brian, I will always do what is needed to protect this family, but I am not a murderer. I'm not planning on going around shooting everyone. And yes, we are family. All of you."
Sarah asked where Max and Abby were and so he turned to her. It wasn't ideal but they had to continue without them. They couldn't hold this off any longer. The damage would only multiply if it didn't look like he was addressing the issue.
"Max and Abby are gone. Max went out hunting earlier and Abby left after him to find him. I wish we could wait but we really need to deal with this."
Next up to the plate for questions was Jay. The kid was alright. A bit flighty at times but he was tough. He seemed like he had adjusted to the world as it was.
"I'm not sure if I will have time but of course I will go with you if I can. If not then we will go out and do it when I get back. Sorry I can't give you a better answer. Anyways I need to get out there. Sarah, can you be by my side when we start this. We need to show as unified front as possible."
He walked out the front door and scanned around quickly, seeing that everyone had formed up before he started talking. He didn't want to say things multiple times. It would be best to get this all out of the way now instead of having to tell people individually.
"Alright everyone," he said, raising his voice.
"By now I'm sure that the rumors and news have spread about what happened earlier and I'm here to set the record straight on exactly what happened."
He could see all kind of different reactions in the crowd. Some people were scared, others seemed nonplussed.
"This morning it was discovered that Arthur had brought growlers onto the property and was experimenting on them. I had warned him when he joined us that if he put this farm in danger. He had to be dealt with and letting him stay here was out of the question. If anything had gone wrong he could have killed all of us. I don't except that. Amber rightly said that we could have exiled him but you all know what that means. The minute he brought the growlers here he was dead. I made a decision that he needed to be dealt with, so I shot him."
He let the weight of that statement resonate with the people gathered. They need to understand the seriousness of what he was prepared to do to protect them and this farm.
"I did not make that decision lightly and though I believe it was neccesary I wish it hadn't been neccesary. That is not meant to mean that I wouldn't do it all again... just... that I don't like having to make those types of decisions, however I will do anything that it takes to protect this farm."

As Charles began talking to the others outside, Jay walked out of the front door and walked up beside Charles, listening. He understood everything the older man was saying and he agreed with it. If it was himself, he would have done the same thing.
Brian nodded and sat on the porch swing. He looked at Charles as he gave his speech. He didn't feel he should be up on the porch with him, Charles was the leader, not him. Brian was just the doctor, he wasn't fit to lead, never was. He should be down there with the others, Becky, Sam, Georgia. But he couldn't join them, he was stuck up here.
Brian looked down when Charles spoke about what he did. He was glad the man was telling everyone what he did, and owned up to it. It was easier this way, no secrets. It would be something Max would have to learn, the guy kept to many secrets from everyone. Brian couldn't see anyone's reactions, but he could guess most of them. There would be shock, on most. A few of the weakers ones, think her name was Karly, she'd cry, as would a few of the others. He guessed a few would get angry, angry or scared, like Same. A few wouldn't care, like Kira or he assumed Jay. Some would accept it, but most would be displeased.
He didn't even know what his own opinion was. Obviously he'd like if it didn't happen, but it did. What did he feel now? He wasn't scared, or wasn't upset to the point of crying. Maybe he was one of those that didn't care, what's done was done. They would move on, they'd have to. Brian just hoped it wouldn't happen again, least not while he was present.
Becky listened to Charles give his speech. She couldn't meet his eye, she hadn't since they rescue Sarah. She always averted his gaze, she felt guilty. After what happened at Fort Bragg, what little she remembered. Becky looked on at the group on the porch, they were the leaders. They kept her safe, and she supported that. She remembered how Charles killed Arthur, in from of her, but were they really the leaders now. Could they be the leaders of the farm if they would just kill them all when they did something they didn't like.
The thought scared her. She could die at any time, and by the leaders none the less. She listened to Charles talk about Arthur, and how he'd do it again. Maybe it would be her, she thought. Becky felt tear in her eyes and blinked them back. She was scared, but she didn't want to show it. Her eyes looked around the crowd. She was looking for Thaddeus, out of familiarity. Again she missed him. Se wanted him to hold her, or for her friend to. Why did Amber have to be up there with him? She wansn't a leader of the farm.
Becky moved away from there crowd to the back. She pulled her arms tight around her body and kept her head low. She wanted for all this to go back to normal. She wanted to lay on her cot, in the Fortt. She wanted to drink a bottle of liquor and drift away. All the death and murder was to much.

Amber stood on the porch. She leaned on the railing and look out on the crowd. He was surprised to hear that Max and Abby were gone, she assumed Dean was with them, he wasn't present in the crowd. That meant they'd be back, after all Max had left his bow. She smiled as Charles explained where the other leaders were, they picked a bad times to leave, a non united front. It wasn't what they needed, but it is what they had now,
When Jay came up and asked to go fishing she just blinked. Was he serious? Did he not know what was going on? They were having a setous meeting, and he was wanting to have fun. It was okay to relax, but not a time like this. Had he not seen Art's body buring on top of the pile. The same man that was at the farm for three weeks. Passed through the barn, house, an fields daily. All this and the kid wanted to go fishing. Charles didn't have time to fish, he was finally recovered and now they needed to get to work, the wall wasn't even up yet. Why was Jay up here anyway? He wasn't a leader, he should be down there with the others. For not wanting to be treated like a kid he sure made it hard.
Amber watched the crowd as Charles explained what the gunshot was, and what happened. Some already knew, saw tem dragging the body. A few like Kira and Brian saw it first hand, but there was nothing they could do. She watched Karly break down an cry, another woman holding her. Louis had been blinking back tears, she could see it. He fought with Art constantly, but that was just who they were, that was their relationship. The cook woul cry, not now, but later, when he was cooking, he'd blame the onions. Sam just stared on, emotionless, his usual smile faded and missing. Becky was crying, Amber wanted to hold her, but her friend just turned away. She saw Georgia with her hands on her hips and a glare at some of the others some women. The mechanic, and the guard, Penny and Olivia, they didn't have much reaction. They were out side at the time of the shooting, they'd have seen what happened. They were stronger than she thought, she mad a mental note to add them to the list of guards in the future.
Amber looked at Charles, wondering what else he had to say. She hoped he'd mention the run to Charlolette, maybe boost morals. She leaned in close so she could whisper to him, "Mention Louis cooking dinner, for everyone. Group meal, boost morale."
Sarah stood on the porch, next to Charles like he asked her to do. She tried to focus on what was happening, but she was worried about Max and Abby. Something was wrong. She heard what was said, but didn't show any real signs . She just stood there next to Charlie. In truth, he and amber were in charge here.
Charles gave little time for everything to properly set in. It was a lot to process and he knew that some of these people would be dealing with it for at least the next few days but he wanted them to have it all out on the table all at once. Maybe he didn't regret his decision in the way that Brian would have wanted. If it came down to it he would make the same decision again. Even if it meant that he would have to deal with the medic next. He knew in his heart that there was nothing that he wouldn't do to keep the people here safe. They may not always like him for it but that was the sacrifice that had to be made by those at the top.
"I know that it is a lot to take in at one time so I want you all to know that my door is open if you end up with questions about it. Or really for anything. You are all my family now, and I mean that. Every person here is important to me. We need each other if we are going to do anything more then just survive out there. I'm tired of surviving like that. I'm tired of going day to day. I want to live. To truly live again. I'm not sure if that is really something that we can do but by hell I think we should try.
Charles looked around again. He wasn't sure but he thought that he could see a small amount of morale returning within the crowd. People seemed at least a little more calm and some of them he might be able to say were actually happy. He really hoped that he wasn't imagining things.
"Now Amber tells me that Louis has been busy preparing a family dinner for all of us. He must have been at that task all day and will probably have a little bit longer to go afterwards but I think that it is important that we eat together tonight. We will also be breaking into some of the stores that our rovers found. I think that tonight should be a time to mourn, but also to celebrate so we will have alcohol."
He looked at Amber. He knew that they had found alcohol but he had also known that the other women had been saving it for another time, preferably after the wall was finished but Charles thought that now would have to be the best time.

Amber looked over at Charles and noded as he mentioned the alchohol. It was meant for when the wall was done, to celebrate that. They had only found so much of it, but they could use it now. She didn't know why, but maybe people wouldn't be on edge as much. For now she saw is as an oppourtunity to relax and let people think it over. She would make sure herself and Charles didn't drink. As much as they needed to relax, they had to leave early tomorrow, get to the cathedral and get back. It would be a long day, they didn't need a hungover start.
-------
The gathering had started, people conversed and chated. Louis had set up table on the porch, and was serving food out to the people here. They had soup and instant meals, people could choose what they wanted. She saw some of the girls talking and smiled at them, as she went to look at Louis and Brian. The meals were warm, but people had to stand. They only had some many chairs, many being used in the tents.
Amber looked to the wall where Georgia and Becky took turns watching on either side. They needed guards, the lack of people proved that. With the party going on, she made sure that she had her gun, as did he guards. They wouldn't drink tonight, maybe later when everyone had gone to bed, but they needed to be alert.
Her eyes scanned the table with the booze on it, vodka, beer, and rum. It was all they had, some found here on the farm, another batch taken from Fort Bragg. The last box they found on a run, but had kept it for after the wall. It was as good a time as any, she just wished they would stay quiet. These people were smart, many of the women not even drinking. After all they'd gone through she thought they'd want to relax and have fun a little, maybe they were to scared to let their guard down.
She felt her gun on her hip as she walked around the yard. A plate was in her hand but she didn't eat. Instead Amber just looked out into the trees, watching for sinners, and for the three members of the group the get back. The sun was starting to go down, they'd need to be back soon. Max had been gone almost all day, Abby not much shorter. They needed to come back, if not it would be a problem tomorrow.

Jay sat in her tree, her eyes scanning across the tree line. He could hear the others chatting and drinking, though he didnt participate in it. She never drank before and he wasn't going to start now. Hhe had nothing against drinking, its just not his thing.

The bike could be hear long before it was seen. I sped into the front, cutting up grass and burnifng a skid mark as it stopped. The bike's engine ceased and the kick stand came down.
Max looked up at everyone, his face covered in pain as he leaned on the handle bars. It hadn't taken long to get to the farm, but Abby wasn't back yet. He worried that Tyler and her had ran into trouble, he hoped they could get back before the sun went completely down.
He felt Dean climb off his back and Amber approach them.
"You're back, where's Abby," Amber asked looking at him.
Dean spoke before Max could, "we found Max, in a house. He was wounded, as am I. We sped off here, she's followng behind us, with another Max was with. Where is Brian, I need his help in the Medbay."
"Brian should be inside. Who was this person Abby's with? Is she safe," Amber asked, not even realizing that she had drawn her pistol. She quickly put it away as Max stared at her.
"He's fine, I trust him," Max said moving off the bike. Dean rushed to his side to steady him. Amber braced his other side as they moved him inside.
"You don't really have the best of judgement Max," Amber said as she helped move him inside with Dean.
"I trusted you didn't I," Max said with a smirk.
"I guess you're right. Let's get you inside," Amber responded as they carried her inside. She stopped short at the door, "Brian we need you in here, Max and Dean are hurt."
Becky sat up on the makeshift tower near whatever was completed on that part of the wall. She had a rifel across her lap and a pair of binoculars at her side. Her eyes scanned the forrest near the farm, able to see the road from here. She looked forward on it, hearing the party going on behind her.
"why can't I have a drink. Who says I even want to be on the wall," she said aloud to herself. She turned back and saw Georgia across the way, up in a tower as she was. Sam was in the barn loft, and Amber patrolled the grounds. If Reily, Grimm, and Thad were here they would have better coverage, instead it's the second hand team now. Sam couldn't shoot for shit, she wasn't much better. Georgia was fast, but she wasn't the best shot. Amber and Charles were the best on the farm right now, that scared her a little. If they neede to do something, an attack, or battle, they would be fucked.
Becky heard the bike and looked down the scope of her sniper. It was the only one the farm had, but she was watching the main road, so she needed it. The bike had two people, but she didn't fire yet. When it came into view she saw Dean on the back, Max steering. She lowered the rifel.
'Thank God it was just them,' she thought to herself. She wasn't ready for a fight. If it was raiders, or attackers, she wouldn't know what to do. She couldn't take the shot, couldn't take another persons life. She had shot at Raiders, those men at the junkyard, but she hadn't kille any of them. She had shot many of them, arms, legs, around them. Sure some may have died, but she didn't kill them directly, if they didn't patch themsleves then that was their problem. She knew Amber had killed, Sam had, Thad had killed his fare share too. He father had killed people inh is world too, she just wouldn't do it.
When the bike stopped she listened from where she was, listened to Amber and Max talk. Dean and Max said Abby was coming behind them, coming with another person. She looked back down the road and at the trees, waiting for them to arrive as well. She took a breath and kept her eyes trained, waiting.
