Kevin nodded as Michael spoke, he came up with a great plan, to get the med kit. He would lure the walker away and all Kevin had to do was kill the walker with the med kit and get back to the ground floor. “Sounds good to me.” Kevin whispered back.
“Be careful though, if something goes wrong fire some gunshots, then I’ll come and get you, or at least try to get you out of trouble.” He added again in a very soft whisper. Kevin hid behind a table that was fallen over and waved his hand to give Michael a go.

Michael headed outside and down the corridor to the second door to the kitchen and slowly pulled it open. He then took out two walkers as quickly as he could before taunting the walkers out. He headed towards the far staircase and ascended a floor. He stood waiting for the walkers to head around the corner "Come on you bastards" He was stood on floor six.
Then he looked up and saw a few walkers headed down from the seventh "Shit!" He turned and ran down the corridor careful not to use his gun he knifed a few walkers on the way approaching the other end of the corridor.

The city appeared almost like a scene from a horror movie- quiet, desolate, and dreary. Tory shivered. She had been carrying her bags for what felt like ages through the rubble of Manhattan; her arms felt like falling off from the weight. It was time for a break. Tory shivered again and rubbed her legs to keep warm. It sure is chilly. She decided she'd put jeans on over her shorts later, after resting, for now she was content to sit atop her bags and gaze at her surroundings. A song came to her as she took in the drab scenery. A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go. We'll catch the fox in a box and then we'll let him go. Tory thought it was a nice song, based off some older song about a farmer, at least that's what her elementary music teacher used to always say. Concentrate. Tory thought she might be losing it, but the tune could be heard in the air as if someone was whistling it. The sound was growing louder. Someone is coming.
Tory slid down off her bags and hid in the street using the shell of a car as cover. She brandished her 9mm from her bag and readied herself. She didn't think she could shoot a person, she wasn't even able to off the walker that assailed her the day before, but she had to at least try to defend herself. Her parents had told her stories warning about the terrible people who commit heinous acts in this world. Fear gripped Tory as she remembered how vulnerable she is. She prayed that whomever was coming would be good.

Kevin saw how most walkers made their way out, he figured Michael his plan worked. The only problem was that the zombie with the med kit was walking out with the others, Kevin had to come up with something. So he carefully peeked over the table raised his gun and shot the walker in his leg, which cause him to fell down. His gun had a silencer so the other walkers kept on walking. When most of them had left Kev slowly came out behind the table and walked over to the crawling walker. He shot him through the head and kneeled down to grab the med kit. It wasn’t easy to get it lose, just he felt that he almost had it, a walker came behind the wall and attacked Kevin from behind. “Fuck!” Kevin yelled as he struggled with the walker. He used all his power and threw the walker off him, then crawled to his gun and shot the walker also in the head, yet again he was lucky that he could shoot him at a close distance.
After that Kevin got up, brushed himself off and sighed in relief. “How could I miss him.” He asked himself. Then he shook his head and all his attention went back to getting the med kit. It was already lose so now he just had to grab it. “Finally.” Kev said as he looked at the med kit in his hands. Then he looked around one more time and made his way downstairs. Soon he reached the ground floor and waited for Michael.

After walking some more down the street, Stephanie was convinced she'd heard someone - not something, she thought, but someone. Kneeling down for a moment, she picked up several small rocks, holding them in her fist as she walked on. Someone's out there, she thought, not a walker but another person...and I think I know how to smoke them out.
Pausing to make sure there weren't any walkers nearby - the last thing she wanted to do was draw that kind of attention to her - she looked around, trying to decide where she would hide if the tables were turned and someone was walking down the street towards her. Chucking one of the stones in one direction, she calmly walked along and called out, "Ayyy yo!" watching to see if anyone moved from the area.
After several seconds of waiting, Stephanie walked a little further down the street and chucked another stone down the way. "Ayyyyyyyyy yo!" she called out once more, pausing to see if anyone bolted from any of the wrecked cars lining the street before walking further down.
After moving down the street some more, she chucked one last stone in what she thought was the likely direction she'd be hiding in. "Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yo!" she called out, her Bawlmer accent sounding distinctly out of place. "Whoever's out there, you better come out and show yourself, you hear?" taking a moment to sling her shotgun back over her shoulder and switch to her 9 before continuing down the street once again.

Michael was nearing the stairs to head down to Kev when a Walker came out of a room towards him and he tackle the walker against the wall using his knife to finish it off. He noticed the walkers were getting close and saw a luggage trolley pushing it in front. He then headed to the stairs and began running down tripping in the second last step of the ground floor and landing on his face he had a small cut on his forehead "SHIT!"
Michael began running towards the exit seeing Kevin "We have to go... Go now..." He saw a crow bar on the ground "You first... Im going to jam the door" Michael used a rag he had taken earlier to clean the blood off his head and waited for Kevin to move keeping an eye on the stairs waiting for twenty of so to reach them.

Tory could hear the footsteps approach. Why is she stopping? Crack! There was a loud bang as the stranger, a woman, yelled. Ayyy yo! Does she see me?
Tory had to cover her mouth to keep from screaming as a rock slammed the top of the car she was behind, her other hand tightly squeezed the grip of her pistol. Ayyyyy yo! She almost got up until she soon heard another bang and another yell. Ayyyyyyyyyyyy yo! The stranger was still there. Who is this crazy woman?!?
Tory slowly peered over the top of her hiding spot, the woman was still standing nearby, but not directly facing Tory. She looked to be switching weapons. Its now or never. Tory couldnt flee unseen so she'd have to stand her ground. Tory stood up as quickly and quietly as her trembling legs would allow and did her best to level her gun on the stranger. Being short, about 5'2", the car still provided adequate cover in case things got nasty. "Don't come any closer, or I, I'll shoot!" Tory's voice quivered with uncertainty, even she could hear it herself. Shoot, I bet a twelve year old could be more intimidating than me. Tory waited for the woman's response.

Just as Stephanie was about to give up and continue walking down the street, she caught a glimpse of someone getting up from behind one of the hulked vehicles....
"Don't come any closer, or I, I'll shoot!"
Keeping her pistol raised, Stephanie found herself staring at a young girl, who was holding a pistol towards her but sounded - and looked, she thought - like she was even younger than her appearance let on. So, I was right...there was someone hiding back there...
After a few moments, Stephanie spoke. "Relax, relax," taking a moment to holster her pistol as she leaned up against the car, her calm demeanor belying the sublime joy at running across another survivor. "So," she asked, keeping one eye on the young girl and the other on their surroundings, "who are you and how did you manage to survive this long?"
Kevin waited for Michael and he could hear the horde of walkers, which meant Michael was close. Kev prepared himself, so he would be ready if Michael needed anything. Just then he saw Michael rushing down, but tripping on the second last step. “Wow.” Kevin said as he ran to aid Michael, but Michael was a fast one and he was back on his feet even before Kevin could offer him his hand. “You ok?” Kevin asked worried. “That was a nasty fall.” He added.
But Michael seemed in a rush, probably cause a horde of walkers was following right after him. He said they had to get out, but that Kevin had to go first. Kevin didn’t want to leave him, but he knew Michael would be fine so he nodded and rushed outside and waited for Michael to get out.

Michael stood saying "Im okay Im okay... Just move your freakin ass"
Michael grabbed the crow bar and followed Kevin as the walkers were half way across the lobby and wedged the doors shut. He stood back holding his gun whispering to himself "Hold, fucking hold" as the first walker approached the door and began to apply pressure.
The crow bar was holding but he could see it was under pressure and the glass was also making pressure sounds around the entrance "Shit... that thing wont hold long... we gotta move. Home or Empire State way?" He was looking left and right as walkers were being drawn to the sound of those inside.
"Pick what you want quick... times a commodity we dont have right now"

Tory was astonished by how calm the stranger reacted. She must have done this a million times. The woman just holstered her pistol and told Tory to relax. Maybe she isn't so bad Tory lowered her own gun and set it on the car. She seems alright.
The woman's question seemed curt to Tory, especially the emphasis on the "you", but she wasn't going to let it bother her. It was a valid question. How did I make it? "My name is Tory, I had a group until..." the words stuck in Tory's mouth, her eyes watered. "...recently. My family..." She wasn't ready to pour her story out to the stranger, at least not yet. Maybe announcing I'm alone was a bad idea. Tory gathered her thoughts. "I guess I got lucky afterwards. You?" She was happy to find someone to talk to, but Tory was still uncertain of who the woman would turn out to be. Tory shivered slightly. Still chilly.

You?"
For a few moments, Stephanie's heart sank at the words. This girl's been through a few things since the walkers' took over, she thought, taking a moment to run a hand through her hair. "My name's Stephanie," she said, taking a moment to unsling her shotgun and set it atop the car. "Like you, I guess I'm lucky to still be alive, but this day and age, kid, luck doesn't get you very far..."
Noticing how Tory was shivering, Steph paused and took off her long jacket. "Hold up, you need this more than I do right now," offering her the long jacket as a peace token. Looking at how Tory was dressed, she added, "There was a surplus store in the area...down that way, I thinks," pointing down a ways. "Let's see if we can't find you some extra clothes and then we'll talk some more then, alright?" It felt weird for Stephanie to be so beneficent, but as she saw it, the girl standing in front of her could very well be like a sister to her. At the very least, I owe it to her to help her, to keep her alive long enough... pausing to wonder, long enough for what, Steph? That thought alone gave her another bit of pause, but she shook it off mentally and continued to lean against the car...
Kevin watched how Michael tried to wedge the door and it seemed to work, but it wouldn’t hold long. Shortly after Michael turned to him and said they had to leave and fast too, he asked to pick their next spot. Kevin thought what would be best, but they were running out of time as walkers came crawling and walker from different sides. “Let’s go Empire State.” Kevin said with a little bit of panic in his voice. Just then the doors broke open releasing all the walkers. “Run!” Kevin yelled.
He already rushed into the direction they had to go as he shot a few walkers, but he stopped and waited for Michael to follow him. He wanted to make sure Michael was ok.

Michael was about to run but stopped emptying his pistols clip at the base of a wooden telephone wire which fell hitting a few walkers. He then began running and went past Kevin "Do you wanna be walker chow... run!" He sprinted down the street seeing a subway he considered if they could loose the walkers down there or if they should go down an alleyway. They had a few options and walkers coming quick. He chose the alley... he would avoid being trapped below at all costs.
Michael finally ran towards Kevin as he yelled to move. “I was just waiting for you, leave no one behind.” Kevin said as he ran next to Michael. They ran as fast as they could, until they reached a spot where they could actually choose their next step. It was either a subway or an ally, Kev would choose the alley and he hoped Michael would do think the same, but before he could say about where he wanted to go, Michael rushed into the alley. Kevin followed and as he ran through the alley he pushed over some trash cans to slow them down, but because of that he tripped over a small stone, which he didn’t see because he was paying attention to the trash cans. Kevin smacked down on the floor, he didn’t hurt himself or at least not bad, he landed on his hands and knees, which cause a little wound on his one hand. He quickly crawled up and continued to run, quickly catching up with Michael.

Michael saw a ladder on the side of a building and headed over, he had noticed Kevins hand was hurt so stopped at the bottom "You first Ill follow, we can't run forever before people notice us!" The ladder would lead to an abandoned office building and that gave him confidence of few people. As long as they avoided the Spector and Turner Law building they would be okay.

"No thanks, my coat is plenty warm" Tory politely refused the stranger's coat. Wow, that was incredibly kind of her. "I have a ton of clothes in my bag, I just need a moment to change." She even offered to take me to a store. Tory felt guilty about aiming a gun at the woman. The woman's calmness had a soothing affect on Tory's nerves. "I'm sorry for the gun" Tory apologized. "It's just...you frightened me with the rocks. I wasn't sure what to do...I'm still not..."Tory glanced around the street. A walker was meandering towards them, not quickly, but it was still enough to put the teen on edge. Maybe I can tag along with Stephanie. She'd certainly watch out for us both. Tory looked back at the woman.
"Were you headed anywhere?" She inquired. Tory was nervous about inviting herself. It wasn't like she had alot to offer. "Maybe I could go with? I promise not to be a burden." Tory shivered on the word burden. She eyed the walkers once more before quickly putting on jeans over her shorts and grabbing her bags. Tory slipped her gun into her backpack. She was ready to go.

"Alright," Stephanie replied when Tory turned down her offer of a long coat, taking a moment to put her long coat back on. Following Tory's line-of-sight, Stephanie saw a walker meandering around. "Hold up," she said, quickly withdrawing a long dagger from its' sheath and quickly walking over to it.
Without a moment's hesitation, Stephanie drove the dagger square into the walker's skull with a sickening thwack, withdrawing it as the walker slack-fell to the ground. After a moment to look around, Stephanie quickly walked back over to where Tory was; by the looks of it, Tory had slipped on a pair of jeans over her legs.
Pausing to wait for Tory to change, Stephanie kept an eye out for them. "Were you headed anywhere?" She inquired. Tory was nervous about inviting herself. It wasn't like she had alot to offer. "Maybe I could go with? I promise not to be a burden." Tory shivered on the word burden.
Taking a moment to look around, Stephanie didn't hesitate, her voice calm as she spoke. "Nowhere in particular," she said, adding, "Sure, Tory," pausing to sling her shotgun back over her shoulder. "First, let's see if we can dodge those walkers, a'ight?"
Post by Tory Bournell on Mar 20, 2015 22:12:18 GMT -5
"Sure" responded Tory falling in behind Stephanie. She was happy to dodge the walkers. They killed my parents. While she hated them as much as she feared them, Tory still couldn't help but remember they weren't always that way. Those things...they were people once but now they're...soulless. She tried to stop her thoughts from connecting the dots but it was too late. My parents are one of them. Tory let fall a single tear as she walked on. Don't think about it.
Tory did her best to keep up, she was in good shape, but not the strongest. Lugging her duffel bag and backpack Tory followed her new friend. The Empire State Building was still on her mind, but Tory didn't care anymore. It's just a building. She'd let the woman in front of her lead.

As they walked along the highway, the concrete canyons of Manhattan off to one side, Stephanie kept a sharp eye out for walkers, pausing every so often and motioning for Tory to duck down alongside her. After some distance, Stephanie paused and pulled the map of Manhattan out of her coat pocket, trying to orient it with the street with they were on. If we keep heading south, we're going to hit one of the tunnels...bad idea there. On the other hand, pausing to look down one of the cross-streets and the spires of the Empire State Building, if we stay out here, we could find ourselves without shelter come nightfall...
Looking back towards Tory for a moment, she paused, muttered a few choice words - not at Tory, mind you, but at the fact that Tory was keeping up quite well with Stephanie, which pleasantly surprised Stephanie - then put the map back in her coat pocket. "Tory, we're gonna' head that-away," motioning towards the Empire State Building and the cross-street nearby. "At the very least, let's get off the riverfront here. I figure we've got a few hours left of sunlight and this time of year, I don't think neither of us wants to be outside in the cold, so let's see if we can find some shelter for the night, a'ight?"
