C'mon, whoever's up there, Stephanie kept whispering, wondering whether her and Tory would have to leave, the walkers creeping ever closer. Suddenly, as she getting ready to ask Tory once more how close the walkers were getting to them, she saw someone climbing down the building's emergency ladder. C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! she whispered, watching the man scamper down the ladder. Looks friendly enough, she thought to herself as the man finally reached the ground. Without hesitating, she yelled over to her, "C'mon!" motioning to him, adding, "Are there any others with you?"

Michael heard Kevin shout and ran over towards the ladder sliding down as quick as he could. As he headed down he heard Kevin say his name again "Im coming dammit! Get in the freakin car" He followed Kevin and shot a walker getting near.

Looking over towards the man - Kevin, she heard by the sound of another survivor's voice - Stephanie yelled over to him, "Rear passenger doors are unlocked....get in!" all the while keeping an eye out for the still-slowly approaching herd of walkers.

As her flare ignited the sky, Tory watched as seemingly chaos ensued. In a matter of seconds the Walkers began to approach, and the survivors had leaped into the back of their humvee.
Tory watched the men from the rear view mirror, empty flare gun still in her lap, as she waited for them to introduce themselves. Who are they? She wondered. And how did they find themselves trapped? Her head was filled with questions, but she'd let Stephanie do most of the talking, at least for a little bit. Are they part of a larger group? The men at least deserved time to get their bearings straight before being bombarded by questions. Tory was content to listen for now.

As the two survivors came down the emergency ladder and piled into the Humvee, Stephanie put it in gear and yelled, "Hang on, everyone!" throwing the huge vehicle into reverse. Tires screeched in protest as the vehicle lurched backwards down the street, the smell and smoke of rubber from the tires wafting into the passenger cabin.
After backing up back into the intersection, Stephanie looked around and threw it into drive. "Alright," she said, glancing at Tory and the others, "Tory, keep an eye out for walkers or anything else we come across. You two in the back, I need one of youse to keep an eye out for anything; the other one needs to give directions so that the four of us don't run intomore charming creatures out theah," her Balwmer accent becoming a lot more pronounced as they quickly drove away from the walkers.
(Kevin, Michael: I went off of Tory's post with the above; unless there's any objection, we'll go from there if that's alright with everyone.)
Kevin saw how the woman motioned to get in the car and how she asked if there were any other. She would already learn that since after that question Kevin yelled a couple times for Michael. Not moments later Michael came down the ladder and told Kevin to get in the car. Kevin nodded opened the door and got in.
When they both got in the car drove off. “Thanks, that was a great timing, I’m Kevin by the way.” He said. Then the woman behind the steering wheel gave them some tasks. “I’ll keep an eye out, I think Michael is better at directions.” Kevin said as he started to turn and look out of the back window of the car.

As the four of them continued along - Stephanie driving, Tory and Kevin keeping an eye on everything and Michael ready with directions - they came up to an intersection; as she slowed the Humvee down, Stephanie called out, "Okay, Michael, which way do we go?"

Michael had his gun on hand encase the walkers or the people in the car attacked them. He heard Kevin speak "Where do you wanna head? My place or somewhere else... go North for now...." He waited for Kevin or someone to reply.

His place. So he must have a house or a fort or something. "Where is your place?" Tory spoke up. She didn't want to stay out here any longer than they had too. We can always come back tomorow. The Empire State Building isn't going anywhere. Tory wasn't even certain if she'd like to head towards it again with all the walkers. The day had brought an abundance of surprises, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to see anymore. A roof over her head sounded nice, especially if it was warm, but she wasn't sure yet what to make of the new strangers. One of the men thanked them, but the other still had a gun in his hand. Sketchy. She had naively left her own in her backpack, now sitting next to one of the strangers. Tory waited for Stephanie to decide.

Lizzy pelted along the clearest road she could find towards the source of the flare. There were still a few walkers around but nothing she couldn't handle, most of them had been attracted by the flare and whatever had sent it up. She vaulted an old car as she came up to an intersection and swung a well aimed blow at the skull of the walker in front of her. It dropped instantly. Stopping for a second to catch her breath Lizzy realized she could hear something coming her way. It was a sound she recognized but couldn't quite place...
'It's an engine....a car!'
The sound and what made it clicked to place in her mind. The last car she had seen had driven off with her sister. Could these be the people that took her? Acting fast Lizzy crouched behind the shell of the broken down car as a Humvee slid into the intersection. It slowed, almost to a stop, and Lizzy got a glimpse of the passengers. Two men, two women...She didn't recognize the faces.
'Must be other survivors...'
She had to make a quick decision. These people might have her sister and she wouldn't be able to follow them on foot, also the sound of the engine would bring the walkers, probably a ton of them, the area wouldn't be safe for much longer. She made up her mind and stood up waving to draw attention from the people inside.
'HEY, HEY, HELP!'
She approached the car hoping to god that the people inside would let her in...

Michael looked at the girl "Im not giving you an address, just follow my direction and Ill talk us there... Its safe as long as we loose the damn walkers" He then saw a woman ahead and looked to Kevin wondering if it was some kind of trap. He waited to see what the driver did.

Driving north, Stephanie kept a keen eye on the street ahead; last thing she wanted was for them to get stranded, especially with a ton of walkers shambling about in the setting light. Head north, head north, she whispered, taking a moment to make sure her sidearm was still in its' holster, ready to go if needed. Just as they passed another intersection....
HEY, HEY, HELP!'
Pointing up ahead, Stephanie slowed the Humvee down a bit, keeping her foot planted near both the brake and the throttle in case there was a trap up ahead. Reaching down, she undid the buckle on her thigh holster and withdrew the Smith & Wesson she carried, quickly checking that first, it was loaded and second, that the safety was off and ready to go. Sliding it under her right thigh, she spoke to the others. "A'ight, I'm going to roll up to whoever that is and quickly ask who they are; if anything tricky happens, the nine," holding up the pistol a moment before sliding it back under thing, "comes up and blasts whoever it is up there and we haul ourselves outta' here. If they're friendly, we'll make room for them and move on up the road."
Turning back towards Kevin and Michael, Stephanie quickly said to them as they rolled closer to whoever was standing there in the street, "If you guys have got weapons, have 'em at the ready in case we have to roll on outta' here and have to shoot our way out." As she turned back forward, Stephanie thought, God, I hope I'm know I'm doing...
Kevin heard how the woman asked Michael which way to go, followed by Michael replying to head north for now. Not seconds later Tory asked where Michael his place was, but Michael was smart enough not to tell them the address but to give directions.
Shortly after that a girl came running asking for help and it was as if Kevin felt the same way as Michael, since they both looked at each other when they heard the girl, both wondering if it was a trap. But they decided to wait and see how the two in front would react. Kevin felt better as she reacted as suspicious as they did. She said she would check it out and that Michael and him should keep their guns ready, for if something would happen. So kept his gun ready and looked at the woman as she was about to leave the car.

Slowing down as they got to the woman standing in the street, Stephanie slowed the Humvee to a crawl, bringing it to a near stop. Keeping herself inside the vehicle - thankfully, this Humvee's got no side windows, she thought - Stephanie called out to the woman. "Whoever you are, let me see your hands....hands, lady!" At the very least, Stephanie wanted to buy just enough time for them to decide whether the woman standing nearby was a legit survivor or simply bait in an ambush or trap.

Tory thought Michael's answer was a bit brusque. Of course I didn't expect an address, but a description would of been nice. She realized the man was probably just trying to be safe, so she didnt dwell on it, but it still struck her odd. We rescued him and he acts like we're gonna pull something over him?
Just than a woman appeared in the road asking for help. Where did she come from? Is she with Michael and Kevin? Tory glanced into the rear view mirror as they gave each other a look. Was that a "who is that in the road" look or a "prepare to hijack the humvee" look? She wasn't sure, but it didn't look too much like the latter.
Steph prepared her revolver before asking the men in the back to prepare their weapons. It made Tory feel better that Steph trusted the men, but the talk about preparing in case it was time to start shooting made her feel uneasy. The woman in the street looked innocent enough. She asked for help. To Tory, it looked like everyone was preparing to fend off an ambush or a drive-by, not to rescue another survivor. She held her breath and prayed as she waited to see what would go down. Steph had already begun talking to the woman.
(Do you guys think that maybe we should create a posting order? )

The Humvee crawled closer and Lizzy could see that she had caught the attention of the group inside. They looked wary.
'They don't know me, it could be a trap for all they know...'
As Lizzy stepped closer she heard the woman in the driving seat call out.
"Whoever you are, let me see your hands....hands, lady!"
Lizzy raised her hands instantly. In her right hand she still had her hockey stick but she was hoping she didn't look menacing with it.
'You guys are so loud you've got the attention of every dam walker in this place and now my ass is in danger! I just need out of the city quickly.'
She called out her position and slowly slid her hockey stick back into the case that held it to her back. Now unarmed she stood with her hands in the air but she didn't feel right. She could hear the walkers now, they were getting closer.

Michael saw a walker approach the car from an alleyway and shot it before returning his attention to the stranger. He remembered they had a flair seeing a large wooden scaffold he looked at the blonde girl in front "Do you have any spare flares... to distract the walkers...?" He then looked forward to the driver "Your car, you decide on this girl... my places is 10 blocks North two east from here"
(Nah just post when appropriate... I mainly made this post to respond)

Hearing the mention of walkers nearby crystallized Stephanie in an instant. "Get in!" she yelled to the woman, taking a moment to flip the safety back on her semi-auto before placing it back in the thigh holster. As the other woman climbed on-board, Stephanie floored the Humvee and they took off to the north. Ten blocks north, then two blocks east, she whispered, adding, fair enough. Hopefully it'll be a safe place of refuge in this city.
Hearing Michael's words about flares, Stephanie looked over towards Tory and asked her, "You have any flares on that flare gun? We need to distract these walkers, give them somewhere else to shamble around to."
Post by Tory Bournell on Mar 25, 2015 22:33:51 GMT -5
Flares? She still had the flare gun in her lap, but it was empty. "I have three more in my bags if you could hand them up here please," Tory answered. They had to make room for the stranger getting inside the car anyways. Tory flinched as Michael shot a walker; she didn't expect it. Are they that close behind us?
As they sped off down the road Tory loaded a flare, certain to save the other two, before passing the flare gun off to the Michael in the back seat. He can probably shoot it off cleaner.
After waiting for him to hand it back, Tory returned her eyes to the road. The adrenaline from her day was wearing off and she was tired. Watching the streets, it took all her will to stay awake as she scanned for walkers.

Speeding through another Manhattan intersection - and I thought Balwmer had bad intersections, Stephanie mused - she quickly counted in her mind how far they'd traveled north. That was six blocks up...four more to go, then two blocks east.
Glancing over at Tory for a second, Stephanie smiled briefly and gave her a friendly slug on the shoulder. "Looks like we may've given those walkers the slip for now," she said, her Baltimore accent thick in the air. Glancing back at the three passengers in the back - Kevin, Michael and the new girl - she asked, "How you guys doing back there?"
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
