Jake didn’t get any reaction on the comment about being more than a team. Which made him sad for a short moment, was Veran losing interest, or was he being to impatient. He didn’t know yet, but he wasn’t giving up so easy, besides he didn’t know what happened to Veran, maybe he was just little fragile if it came to relationships. Just then Veran told him to go easy on Dale, told him he had bad taste of en before, which was now better.
Jake stood still and thought for a second what he meant by that. “Oh sorry, it’s just I always dreamed of having a child, but you know with this damn apocalypse I don’t think it’s possible anymore, that is why I’m so happy when I see someone else his kid.” Jake said in a sad tone. The thought of never having his own child hit him more then he thought. But just then Veran opened the door and let the first biter out. Jake sliced off his head and the body and head fell on the floor. “So what you mean by bad taste in men, they weren’t nice to Dale, cause he seems a great kid, I don’t get what there is not to like.” Jake said softly. “Besides with such a cute guy as yourself, I wouldn’t care if your kid was a monster.” Jake joked as he tried to lighten up the mood a bit
Veran and Jake left the store with their loot and walked over to the truck. Dale seemed to still be talking to the woman and they seemed engrossed. Part of the pirate told him to go check on his son but that part hadn't quite come to grips with the fact that his son was now a man. If he were honest with himself and, despite his attire, he normally was. He really didn't know how to parent Dale anynore. Not only had he been out of practice for two years but when he had last seen his son before all of this he was a preteen... now he was very clearly a man, in all but age. Veran wasn't sure if Dale even needed a father anymore.
He sat down on the hood of the truck, far enough away not to eavesdrop on his son's conversation.
Mia chuckled as Dean asked about her name and apologized. He seemed alright and she decided right then that she would always level with him and talk to him like a man. She smiled and then hugged him,"yea, it's Mia,and you're Dale." She let go and saw Veran and Jake returning.
Stepping back from him," looks like the calvary has returned." Mia grinned," don't worry your urges are safe with me." She winked at Dale and then moved back towards the others. She was looking for Emre and Nate. The hadn't come back, but she had seen them coming back and forth a few times. She glanced at Veran," good boy you got ,you know?" She looked at Dale, and smiled. She hadn't spoken much to any of the others ,but Nate. After talking with Dale, she figured she should start. Bear Lake was the past and she needed to accept the deacision she had made.

Jake followed close behind Veran, still being happy about the kiss on the cheek, even though it seemed like something small, for Jake it was a start. He noticed how Veran sat down on the hood of the car, Jake stood next him and leaning against the hood of the car. Then he noticed Mia and Dale where done talking, so he walked a little closer. “Hey how are things here?” he asked as he looked from Dale to Mia. While waiting for an answer he turned to Dale. “Here, I heard you like reading I found these at the shop and i know it are just comics and not books, but it's the best i could do.” Jake said with a smile as he offered the comics to Dale. After that his eyes went back to Mia. “Emre and Nate should be almost done right?” he asked. “The shop was a pretty well stocked, we found a lot.” He added
This way he hoped to start a conversation, it was time everybody started to talk a bit more with each other, what happened at Bear Lake was hard for everyone, now it was time to start accepting the new group and be happy with that.
"Things went.. Interestingly." He replied with a enthused scoff. As Jake handed him the comic, he took it and looked over the cover. Before he really grasped what it was about he looked up at Jake and raised his hand following the gesture with a firm, "Thanks." He rolled the comic up and slid it into his back pocket, and looked to see if Nate and Emre were on their way back yet. He didn't immediately see them so he assumed not. "Get anything useful?" He asked bluntly. Dale wasn't ready to give the guy any leeway yet, so he'd keep giving him a hard time to see how far this one would go if he didn't get his way. It had nothing to do with the past in this scenario, he just wanted to figure this guy out for real. To Dale he was just 'too' nice as he tried looking in from the outside, and for some reason that bothered Dale.
"Thanks lass, seems ya left a good impression. Hope I don't ruin all your hard work eh?" He said laughing. He was glad that others appreciated Dale.
He knew that he shouldn't be getting close to these people because he was planning on leaving but he couldn't help himself. They were a good bunch from what he had seen so far.
He looked at Dale and almost scolded him. He got it with Jake bit at the same time he thought maybe he was pushing too hard. He really didn't like him doing that, but to say anything about it would probably make Dale look like an ass in front of the the others.
"Got quite the haul from there. Might be we was ta first to be in there since cause it was full o stuff."
He started unloading his bah, making sure not rm to pull out Nate a special item... or his own.
Mia smiled at Jake. She felt bad forthr poor guy. He seemed the same as in the mess hall, and he was trying, but Dale seemed to be pushing back. She glanced at Veran as he spoke and shook her head.
She watched and listened to the guys talk, and looked again for Nate. It was starting to bother her. She had seen Emre a couple times, but not Nate. She gave quick glance to Veran, then spoke softly, low enough for him alone," he is trying too hard and Dale doesn't trust that, he got upset earlier when he thought I was treating him like a kid. Jake seems nice, it's gonna take some time." She waited to see if Veran had understood what she said, then added," want me to talk to Dale,or Jake?" She grinned and Veran and nudged his leg since it dangled near her," can't hurt."
Emre nodded to Nate as he said they should probably head back to the others. He went from the station and back over to the truck with a smile on his face. Everyone had grouped around here so it seemed they were all back together again, not much splitting them into group again. Nate did mention not too long ago that they should head out as soon as possible, he was unsure if others had the same idea.
"Well, we've got good news. We found two and a half cannisters full of gas and manged to fill a wheelbarrow full of tools that could be used as weapons"
Emre stood in a central area where he could clearly be seen by most. As far as he saw, there wasn't really a leader of their group as of yet. Dannie did show some leadership qualities back at the cabin. Someone has to take charge and maintain order within the group.
"So do we have any idea on when we're heading out?"

Jake saw how Dale was once more being careless, but at least this time he got a thank you. “No problem.” Jake said with a slight smile. He remembered what Veran told him and he would try his best to follow it. Before Jake met the new people at the cabin he was different. He lost everyone, had no reason to live or to care for other people, so he started to become a reckless person. But his parents raised him to be good person, and that is sort of what kept him on the good path. But he was losing hope, thank god he met Dannie, Sterling and Emre that day, negative side was when they got captured. So once again he was giving up, but then he met Veran and some other people, so now that he has friends and a man where he is starting to feel more then friendship, he feels like there is still hope and there is a reason to live or a reason to help others. Guess that is why he isn’t giving up on Dale, something he would have done if his life stayed in the same crappy way. Then Dale bluntly asked if they found anything useful. But Veran already answered as he was getting the stuff out. Jake left everything in his backpack easier to carry, but he opened it to the others so they could see the canned food and other stuff.
Then he once more looked around to see if he could spot Emre or Nate, and this time he saw them walking into their direction. “If you guys would have stayed a bit longer we would have come looking.” Jake said with a smile. Then he heard how Emre said he they found two and a half canisters of gas and a lot of tools. “Good job, we have found some good stuff ourselves.” Jake said as he looked down at his backpack which was still open. Then he heard how Emre asked if they had any clue on when to leave. “Well I’m fine with anything.” Jake said as he leaned back against the hood of the car again.

"I don't know how far we are from the meeting place," Nate said as he joined the group. He had taken longer than Emre, his bum leg acting up. As he leaned on the truck he folded his arms. "If we keep following the route we should get there eventually. Once there we just wait. We give Sterling and Dannie as long as they need. It's already been two weeks, though we've been slow moving." He smiled as he looked around at all the faces.
"Now they might not even make it. They might be dead, stranded or decided not to come. In the event that they don't show we will have to move on. Though I doubt that will happen."
He looked at the tools, "what did you guys find in the store," Nate asked looking at the bag. He rummaged through it, "all seems good. Good find guys. The food will help. If we're going to Georgia the mitts might be a little warm." He paused and smiled. "I Think it's best if we all know what we have to work with. As for the tools we can load them up, everyone takes what they new and we'll store the rest. The fuel we can top up now, so we had a full tank to reach the meeting place. That work for everyone?"

Dale silently sheathed his sword, and walked over to Mia. He reached in a gently procured his gun from her, and put it back in it's holster. After putting his equipment back in place, he stood near Nate so he could hear him better, crossing his arms, and placing one foot ahead of the other as he stood. He mostly agreed with Nate, except on a couple topics. He raised his hand to chime in once Nate was done speaking to get his thoughts in.
He began speaking without acknowledgment, but without rudeness, "I was only there a matter of days by the time we left, and your friends were still being well taken care of at that time. For all we know they could just be leaving now. No matter how much we drag our speed we'll still probably be waiting a week or more when we arrive at the rendezvous. We don't even know what's waiting for us. I say we find the most secure spot to protect ourselves first, and then do a run daily to check the planned meeting spot. Specifics we could discuss more once we find the place."
He looked up at Nate and nodded skyward, "I agree with you on everything else. For the next lapse in our trip, mind if me, Jake, and uhhh," he felt bad having to think what Emre's name was, so he just pointed at Emre, "and you.. Sorry, rode in the car?" He shrugged apologetically to Emre. He didn't want to butt in on Nate's speech, but he wasn't known for holding back his opinion. "Just to get the group better acquainted, yeah?"
Mia stood still and listened. She smiled as she finally saw Nate. She let Dale have his gun back , glad to be rid of it, actually. She didn't like the guns, and was nervous about accidently firing it.
When Nate started offering up suggestion, she glanced around the group and had to smirk when Dale spoke up. She had to give it to him, the kid's plan made sense. She wasn't sure how the driving arrangement idea would go over though, so she remained quiet for a moment and let it sink in with everyone, before clearing her throat, 'I don't mind where I ride, as long as I get where we are going." She shrugged, and locked eyes with Nate, figuring he wouldn't care as long as they weren't separated.
"I've already talked to Jake. I told him he needs to give Dale some time. I tend to be shit at picking partners, especially men." His accent seemed to dissappear entirely for a second but a second later it was back. "Might be it would help if ye were to talk to Dale though." He was having issues recently where his accent kept leaving and then coming back. It was like his mind was trying to decide which personality would become primary and it couldn't quite make up it's mind.
He looked to Dale. It was a good plan. Though he did think that maybe the spot that had been picked would be a good one. It really depended on how safe the spot was.
"It's a good plan. Though might be we should scout out the place and see if'n it wouldn't be better there.,

Jake listened as Nate explained how he saw things. “Yup works for me.” Jake answered while looking at Nate. But then all of the sudden Dale spoke up and his plan made sounded better. But then he asked if the groups in the cars could be changed. Jake wondered why Dale wanted to be with Emre and himself. Was it to keep him away from Veran or did he finally want to chat a bit. “Well if that is what you want Dale, than I’m okay with it.” Jake answered as he looked at him.
Jake noticed Veran and Mia whispering back and forth, when he saw they were done, he walked over to Veran and stood next to him. As Veran told the group what he was thinking, Jake softly rested his head on Veran his shoulder, hoping he wouldn’t mind. “So what is the next step?” he asked.
The others just blabbered on about what was to be done next. Emre thought they should probably just meet at the meeting place, where they were supposed to head, but ideas sprung around and everything's changing. Jesus, being in a larger group sure was tough as hell, Emre didn't know if this was the best option he could have taken. His mind was telling him to get out of there, now! But something kept him from going, probably that his old group would be reformed here. Jake seemed to have adapted well into the new group, but Emre was still keeping it slow and steady.
"Whatever man, just as long as we're all back together"
The kid, Dale, had pointed out he should ride with Jake and Emre. Although, the kid did manage to forget Emre's name while mentioning him. Two weeks in a group together and they're already forgetting names? Emre looked at him and sighed.
Nate listened to Dale and smiled. "Was going to offer to let you drive the next stretch. But if you want to ride with Jake and Emre you go ahead. Would be better for your dad to teach you anyway." He laughed as he picked up the wheelbarrow. He strained against its weight but managed to place it in the truck.
"We may be there a while that's true. But we've also been taking our sweet as time. It takes three days to get from Canada to the southern tip of Sanfranciso. That's with all the traffic in cities and the highway. We should have been there by now, but we're stopping and clearing out each pit stop. If they were to leave the two week they said they were then they should be leaving about now. But Verand right. We should scout out the next place for sure, we don't know what to expect," Nate said looking at everyone.
"Well let's get a move on. No point wasting daylight."
Dale grimaced at the mention of him driving. He had no fear of vehicles, but he didn't know exactly how he felt about being behind the wheel of one. He looked over to Veran, and held his hands out, giving a look of desperation. "I don't think it's a good idea..." He stated sternly, his face seeming a tad pale. He looked at the steel cages, not really thinking of them like that until the idea of him driving one presented itself. He couldn't help but sigh.
"Fuck, fuck fuck!" Finn exclaimed at the situation he and Eva were in right now. How could they allow themselves to be ambushed like that? Eva got shot up pretty bad, taking three bullets to the abdomen but still she was holding on. Finn needed to support her more every minute and he could feel how she was letting herself go. This was not good, and he knew it. Even if he'd get her back to the car, then what? A small part of him knew Eva wasn't going to make it but the bigger part of him refused to believe that.
Finn could hear the yelling of their pursuers behind him, but they were now near the gas station where he had stashed the car. He just hoped they'd get there before the bandits were able to catch up with them, and that Eva would hold out until they were safely away from the area. He was now practically carrying Eva, dragging her along with his left arm, while he kept the stock of his HK416 underneath his armpit for support, while using his hand to fire the rifle behind them every now and then to keep the pursuers back.
"Finn... You have to leave me..." Eva said. "Save... save yourself." "Goddammit E., I'm not leaving you!" Finn answered. "Just hang on, we're almost there!"
Finn was exhausted. Every second seemed to last an eternity. He had trouble catching his breath and his left arm he used to support Eva was hurting more the more steps they took. A small feeling of relieve came when he saw the gas station, but until they reached it they were far from being out of the woods. Finn turned around, keeping support on Eva as he did; and fired a salvo in a 180° curve to disencourage any pursuers from coming more closely. He knew his attempt was probably futile and would definitely not scare the bandits off, but every second he could win was an extra second they could use to reach the car.
"Just a bit further E.!" Finn said. "Stay with me, y'hear!"
Finn felt a warm wet sensation going across the lower left part of his body. A quick peek to the bottom revealed it to be Eva's blood streaming like a river. She was done for, and Finn knew it. But he refused to believe it. When they finally reached the gas station, Finn fired another salvo behind him. All he needed to do now was take the car from the garage and Eva could at least die in peace, rather than falling into the hands of bandits before she died. Finn also knew he needed to be watchful of her from this point; if she went he'd literally have a walker on his hands. And that was not something Eva would want to happen to him.
"We're here Eva!" Finn spoke. "We've made it! I'm gonna get you out of here!"
Eva looked up and saw a group of people standing near some cars. Using her last strength, she pointed them out to Finn.
"Finn... the... there's people... there." Eva said. "The... they can... they... they can... help."
Finn looked up at the group of people Eva had pointed out but hesitated for a second. If they were with the group that was chasing them they were done for. If they were some separate group he'd either be putting them at risk as well, but on the other hand he'd have a fighting chance against the group of bandits that was following him as well. He decided to call out to them for help since the situation seemed hopeless anyway.
"Hey! Hey! Help us!" Finn yelled. "They're after us! Please! She's hurt bad!"
Finn had to drag Eva now. She had no more strength in her legs and had almost lost consciousness. He moved his friend towards the group of people, keeping one arm around Eva and the other up in the air.
"Please, there's bandits behind us!" Finn yelled once more. "Please help us! My friend's hurt bad!"
Throwing himself at the mercy of others like that was out of character for Finn, but he had no other choice. There was not enough time anymore to get Eva to the car and escape. He hoped these people were friendly, but if they weren't; he was prepared to share Eva's fate. She was the only friend he had left in this world and the only one he truly trusted. He knew that she was on her way out and didn't know whether or not he could live with the knowledge that she wasn't there to support him anymore.
(OOC: you can try and help Eva but she will die of her wounds)
Mia waited for everyone to make a decision , but turned her head as she heard a burst of gunfire. She glanced at Nate and the others , she heard someone callling and dragging another. Mia glanced at Nate and before he could stop her, she took offf. Her medical training taking over.
As soon as she got close , she could see the amount of blood pouring from the female. Fuck ! This was bad. She looked at the male,"I'm a nurse, what happened, lay her down." She got under Eva's other arm to help with her wait. Mia helped get the woman down on the pavement and started looking for wounds. She raised her shirt and grimaced. Without pausing, she ripped her shirt and started started trying to stop the blood flow.
Mia looked at Fin for a moment,"what's her name?" She was feeling the woman's neck for a pulse. The piece of fabric was soaked through with blood quickly,"damnit!!!Nate!!" She yelled and then her head snapped up as a group of men rounded the bend in the road. A few shots rang out,"Fuck they shooting at us!!" She needed to try to help this woman, but she was fading, she barely had a pulse.
Mia reached to her thigh and pulled the blade Nate had given her. " we gotta get out of here."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
