Two weeks since the last of the new comers have arrived at the hotel. Seth working on project after project in the meantime but now is time for him to reveal a secret. He's had everyone in Hampton gather in the lobby, some on couches, some on lawn chairs, and some standing. All circled around Seth who's holding a pen and notebook. "Alright folks, I've called you all in here today to give you some well, sort of bad news. First off, this Hotel is here to stay. This community, everything about Hampton will stay. But we have to fight for it. Yes, the dead is posing a threat now. For a few weeks you could see that these streets were clean. It wasn't that we've wiped all of the rotters out in Johnson City, it's the fact that there's a former "safe zone" in the center of the town full of these things. The walls are about to fall with rotter after rotter ready to stumble over the remains and head straight here. Those amount of rotters will surround this hotel and possibly trap us with no way of getting supplies. So we need to move. We need to act. And we need to do it now. But in order to do it, we all need to agree on the way to do this so if anybody has suggestions, now is your way to speak up and suggest....anyone?"

It had been two weeks since they found sanctuary in the hotel. Dean was still adapting, but he was relieved everyone was safe and that they found a new home, a place they could help rebuild. At first it was hard to pass the leadership, of course he was sort of the leader of their group, so they would still follow him, but here in the hotel Seth was the new leader.
Dean waited at the door from the room, where Nick and he stayed in. “Hurry up babe, we need to hear the new plan.” Dean said and already started to walk further since he could hear Seth talk.

Leaning back in his chair, Joseph kept his arms crossed over his chest and thought about what Seth was saying. Having adjusted to life at the hotel, he'd taken the opportunity to go out a few times and survey Johnson City, filing away all the little bits of info he'd gleaned in case he needed it for later...and judging by Seth's words, later had just arrived.
Leaning forward, he spoke, parsing his words. "If we do nothing else, we've got to figure out a way to keep those walkers from cutting off the highways next to the hotel here," motioning in the directions of each highway for a moment. "To do that, maybe we could lure them away from the hotel, get whatever horde comes out of that 'safe zone' to go in another direction altogether..." Sighing for a moment, he added, "...and that means, whatever plan we come up with, one of us in this room," motioning to everyone, "is going to have to play the role of Pied Piper and lead those walkers away from the hotel."
Leaning back once more, he added, "I'll do that if no one else wants to, everyone....but that's only one part of the plan. Anyone have any other suggestions on what to do?"
After another fitful, sleepless night spent staring at the stars, Kara looked around at her makeshift campsight and hefted her gear - or what gear she'd managed to save from the theatre stronghold after the events...she shuddered in horror for a few moments as the memories of that horrible day flooded her mind once more - watching the tornado as it approached, watching it ravage the buildings, hearing the agonized screams and moans from everyone else - all those memories which haunted her day after day after day. They also kept her going, day after day after day, as if she were trying to defy the gods themselves; it was the only reason she didn't give in to her memories...the way Kara felt about it, she didn't want to go out on the receiving end of a walker bite or a self-eaten bullet; if she was going to go down, she would go down fighting....
...and that included continuing on, day after day after day. After making sure her campsite was clean - no sense causing a forest fire, even nowadays, she mused - she began walking once more, reaching the highway after some exertion and staying on it for what seemed like forever, her senses attuned to the environment around her. Pausing every so often to dispatch the occasional walker, she continued on down the highway until she saw an old, weathered sign.
Walking up to it, she quietly read the message on it. "Welcome to Watauga," it read. Looking around, she whispered to herself, "Well, Kara, you made it this far....let's see how much further you can go."

Nick wondered toward the doorway trying to stop his laughter. Placing his hand on Deans shoulder as his cheeks were red from the sight. "Sorry I had just got watch Sisa try to feed Koya solids.." Biting his bottom lip as his body leaned against Deans back. Dark brown eyes watched the man speak and switched over to looking at Joseph when he suggested plans. "Um.. How about we don't risk the person with medical knowledge?" Tilting his head a bit. "But to Avalanche or whatever the term is off of that idea we could also try to camouflage this place with walkers... In case any left behind come by?" The young man suggested as he slowly moved from behind Dean to the others idea of the doorway.

"Um.. How about we don't risk the person with medical knowledge?"
Looking over, Joseph thought about Nick's comment; it made sense in one key area: Joseph was the hotel's sole doctor...if something happens to me, Joseph thought, who would take over those duties? Blowing out a long breath, he gave Nick's comment serious thought. "Okay," he said, "but who do you have in mind to go? You? Dean? One of Seth's people?" pointing towards Seth. "Like I said earlier, someone's gonna' have to play the Pied Piper role here and if no one else is willing to step up, I'll do it."
After a few moments, he continued. "I figure, Seth, given the roads here in Johnson City, that our best bet, since the safe area you mentioned is just east of Interstate 26, is to lure as many of those walkers to the north and east if possible, using either State Highway 91 to the east or either Woodlyn Road or State Highway 400 to the northeast. Now, some are going to slip out and head west; that's where I want you and Dean, Nick, involved. If we get walkers starting to roam west, I want you two to lure them away from the hotel area as far as possible.
"That said, how far should we try to lure them away? 10 miles....20 miles? Any suggestions?"

Sisa felt odd walking toward the meeting without Koya on her back. Rubbing her arms together to stay warm as her dark brown eyes saw Romeo and Julio as she referred to them in her haughty. Smiling as he shoved Nickiahs shoulder jokingly. "Koya spat up on my shirt.." She said pointing at it in a whisper tone so to not interrupt Joseph. Listening closely to what was said and even though wasn't at the meeting for long the idea of Joseph offering to being the pied piper. "You can't do it. Your the only doctor as stated already. Someone other then you or Zack can do it" Sisa added in still not liking the idea of Zack getting in danger even though he could handle himself. Crossing her arms over her chest still finding it weird without the feeling of her child. Shaking her head as she tried to pass the worry. Isabella can baby sit perfectly fine she told herself.

Sisa's right, Joseph sighed....Sisa's right. Sucks, but she's right. Blowing out a long breath, he leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms over his chest and said, "Sisa's right, which means someone else is going to have to do it. I figure, with what I said a little bit ago, that we're going to need three people: one to go west, two to go east. We can work out who gets the western end of it....," paused to look over towards Dean and Nick, and added, "You two want to take the eastern end of it?"
After a few moments, Joseph thought, If we send anyone out, we're going to need radios to communicate... Not waiting for a reply from either Dean or Nick, he looked over at Seth and asked, "Seth, do we have any radios here we can use? If not, anyplace close by where we can snag some?"
Seth had listened to everybody's part, especially Joseph who seemed to be of good help. "Johnson City police station a few streets over....I had looted it for guns but never checked for walkies. As for leading the walkers away from the hotel, I can do it. I've scouted Johnson City, I know ever short cut if I need to bail. I have a flare gun with a few flares to either keep them on path or call for help."
He strokes his beard while thinking real quick before speaking up again. "Now as for cover fire to take out any stragglers, I got a gun closet over there. I've been collecting guns and ammo from all over the city for weeks. A few of you who are good shots can go grab a gun and we'll give you posts on top of the buildings along the strip near the safe zone. One on each building, on both sides of the street. Watching all corners. The gun fire may draw them towards you, but that's why I have a gun as well. To get the bastard's attention. So who's our good shots?"
Post by Joseph MacMillan on Jan 15, 2016 18:37:39 GMT -5
Looking around, Joseph had a few good ideas. "Off-hand, not counting myself, Zack or Sisa....our best shots are probably either Sabita and Dean," pointing towards them, "with Mirek being right behind them. As for gun posts, we'll need to see where all the sightlines are so we don't end up shooting at each other by accident; is there any way we can access the roof of the hotel here so that we can map out where the good vantage points are on this side of the safe area?"
"Where am I? Where am I?" Kara whispered, pausing to wipe the sweat from her forehead as she looked at a near-torn map of the area. After several moments of frustration, she angrily folded the map back up and shoved it into a jeans pocket; picking up her backpack and weapons, she began walking down the highway once more.
After a while, she came up upon a T-intersection; looking around to get her bearings, she noticed a house not more than a short walk down from the intersection. Looking at it with a pair of binoculars, she saw it was a two-story with stairs leading up to the second floor...and a vehicle underneath an outdoor garage, she whispered, adding, Maybe it still runs....won't hurt to check.
Cutting through a nearby field, Kara found herself standing in front of the house's first floor; there was an eerie silence around the place, as if something bad had happened inside...but what, she didn't know. Drawing her pistol out, she clicked the safety off and began searching through the house, using her skills as a sheriff's deputy to search every room, every nook and cranny, stopping to grab a spare reusable bag so that she could fill it with any supplies she found.
After a painstaking search, she found herself back outside, standing underneath the outdoor garage awning, bag full of MREs' and canned meats. Setting it down on the ground, she walked over to the truck - a red Ford F250, by the looks of it, she mused, taking time to search through the cabin to make sure there wasn't anything lurking inside. By the smell, she thought, closing the driver's side door, the only think lurking is a ton of dust coating everything. Opening the door again, she found the hood latch and pulled it, popping the hood open. Doing a quick and dirty check, she didn't see anything out of the ordinary...oil's still good, coolant's good...someone was taking of care of this until a few months back, she thought, which would explain all the dust and gunk inside.
Stepping back to look at it, she stood for several minutes before deciding to go ahead and take the truck, figuring whoever owned it before didn't have any need for it anymore or weren't around anymore, either way. Climbing inside, she threw her gear and weapons in the passenger seat and her backpack and bag in the back; shutting the driver's side door, she started looking for the keys. Where are the goddamn keys...oh, there they are! she whispered, catching them from their hiding place in one of the truck's center nooks as they fell. Please, God, let this vehicle start...let it start, she said as she put the key in and turned the ignition...let it start, let it start--there we go!
After several seconds, the truck's throaty diesel coughed to life, its' engine coming up to full song. Yes! Kara thought excitedly. Now I have some wheels! Looking around, she began backing the truck out from the awning, turning it so that she could drive off and away from the house. Giving the house one last look, she silently thanked whoever had owned the truck for it before throwing the truck into gear and driving away.
"Yes there's access to the roof. Dean, Sabita, Mirek, Joeseph, and Gary you will be our shots. Now as for help with me on the run..." Before he can finish, Skylar, the man who had originally been with Seth when they found the nest began to speak. "I'll go with you." And with that, Seth didn't argue, he glanced at Alexis across the room and shook his head in agreement. "Ok, so me and Skylar will lure them out of the town. We'll take the red truck I got fixed up out there, full of fuel, there will be no problem. Skylar drives, I stay in the back and watch the crowd. The rest of you will stay here. Stay in doors."
He then walks over to Alexis. "When this is going down, I need you to know how dangerous this situation is. Me...Skylar....anybody could die. We need you here as the backbone. People will be upset. People will be worried. It's your job to keep them sane. Ok?" He whispered before looking at Joseph and the other designated shooters before signaling for them to follow him upstairs as the meeting dies out.

A dark black brow raaised as she wasnt assigned any job. Watching Nick hug Dean with worry written on his face. Waiting until Seth was dont talkimg to the redhead nefore walkimg over toward him. "You didnt give me a anssignment and I'm a way better shot then Sabs." Pointing at the silent Archer before shifting her dark eyes back to Seth, "Koya is being watched and I want to assist." The mother told as her hands found themselves in the usual crossed position over her chest. Looking over at the predomently caucaise group of strangers she hadnt talked to since arriving made her feel like home which was even more of a reason to go.

Dean listened to the plan and felt Nick joined them, since he felt his lovely body leaning against his back. Dean pulled Nick his hands around how waist as they listened to the plan. He nodded as Nick said it wasn’t wise to risk the person with medical knowledge. “Nick is right aobut that.” Dean replied.
Then he listened again to Joseph. “I’ll go.” He said in a serious tone. He saw how Sisa greed, but didn’t want Zack to go either. “Sisa is right, Zack can’t go either, the baby needs a dad, I wouldn’t want something to happen to him.” He replied.
It was then Joseph agreed on Dean going, but also told Nick to go, they would take the eastern part. “I can go alone, I want nick to be safe." Dean replied stern as he tightened the grip on Nick his hand, sort of his way to tell Nick he loved him. Then he listened to Seth as he spoke. He nodded as Jospeh said, Sabita and Himself would be their best shots. “He’s right, I was owner of a security company, I did the gun trainings etc.” Dean replied. Seth agreed to them being to shooters. “Great.” Dean answered.
Then Seth gave one last speech and asked if everyone was ok with the plan. Dean once more nodded. “Ok.” He replied. Then Sisa spoke up, she wanted a task. Dean shook his head. “That may be right, but the baby needs his mother too, maybe even more then a father, so I would say you stay just here." Dean said looking at her.

Nodding in agreement, Joseph got up and walked over to the gun closet Seth had mentioned; going through the assortment of weapons and ammo present, he smiled at the sight of a lever-action. A Winchester Model 94 .30-30.....nice, he thought, picking up the rifle and two boxes of .30-30 ammunition. Slinging it over his shoulder, he looked over at Dean & Nick and quipped, "You all ever want to learn how to fire a lever-action, let me know?" grinning at the pair. Joseph knew Dean was very proficient at firearms, more so than he was, so anytime he could get one over on Dean was a good time indeed.

Maybe it was his ego or the fact that he disliked when Dean was so damn protective. Moving forward toward Seth and Sisa despite Deans rewuest for him to stay home. "I can help her with whatever. I would rather be doing something then worrying about it." Nickiah ran a tan hand through his short dark curls as he smiled at Sisa who appreciated his help.

Dean looked at Joseph as he spoke. “Nah, I’m good, I think I know how it works.” Dean said with a smile, followed by a wink.
Just then Nick spoke, Dean was angry and glared at Nick as he said he wanted to help. “It will be harder for me to focus, but fine, just be careful.” Dean said stern. He hated it when Nick acted like a child, meaning doing the opposite of what was actually the most logical thing. He just wanted his boyfriend to be safe, he loved Nick so much, losing him would break him. “I’ll be right back.” Dean said as he grabbed Nick his arm and pulled him away from the group.
“God dammit Nick.” He said in a angry tone, but not yelling. “When will you understand that I just want you to be safe, losing you would break me.” He said looking down and closing his eyes for a brief second. “I can’t live without you.” He said looking back up in Nick his eyes. “Please promise me, you’ll be careful.” He said softly. Dean couldn’t be angry with Nick for long, he loved him too much. Dean grabbed his hands. “Promise it.” He asked once more before softly leaning in to kiss him.

Hearing Dean's adminition, Joseph smiled. "Just thought I'd ask there, buddy," giving the man a friendly punch on the shoulder. As everyone gathered began to leave Joseph coughed a few times and said, "Before we leave, I'd like to say a short prayer," pulling out a small, pocket-sized copy of the Old Testament he'd found long ago as he made his way east from Utah from his shirt pocket.
Opening it up, he quickly found what he was looking for. "Psalm 138:7...Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me." Looking at each one of them, he continued. "As we go forth, let us watch over one another as we would our families; let us remain calm and steady as we go about our work and hopefully, let us return here safe and sound." Closing the small book up and returning it to his pocket, he said, "Unless anyone has anything else to add, I suggest we go ahead and get started."
Seth shakes his head and they head up to the roof of Hampton Inn, searching and scouting spots. Joseph being the big help that he is helped assign posts for the others as Seth then points out the direction for the police station. With that, they head down, all getting ready while Seth and Joseph set out to go retrieve that walkie talkie's giving the others time to say their goodbyes.
Opening up the gate, Seth and Joseph walk out onto the empty street. "Ok we can go on foot for now. Follow me." They head down the street turning the corner to see one lone rotter in which he pulls his combat knife out and stabs it in the head, killing it on the spot. They then continue down the road which seems very empty, with the distant sounds of snarling rotters being the only sounds echoing through the ghost town. "Ok there's the police station. Last time I was here was a few weeks ago and I cleared it out. Should still be good. The walkies should be in the back if there is any. Just in case though, we should do a clean sweep. Looking for any stragglers. I'll do the left side and you do the right side. We get anything we need. If you can find a chain or a rope, grab it because we'll need something to tear down that wall. It shouldn't take too much force but you know, might as well finish the job." He explains as they head up the stairs and reach the entrance.

"Alright," Joseph replied as they approached the police station; entering it, he headed down the right-side corridor and began looking for a supply or equipment room, all the while keeping a sharp eye and ear out for any walkers still lurking inside. With trench knife in hand, he checked room after room, not finding anything they could use to tear down the walls Seth had spoke of earlier. Looks like we hit snake eyes, Joseph thought as he rounded one corner; looking around, he could hear the snarling sound of a rotting walker behind what looked like cell doors. Looking around once more, he thought, Where the hell is--there! There we go, sprinting over to a door marked "Supply & Equipment".
Testing the door, he found it locked; cursing his luck, he kept trying the door, trying to figure out any weaknesses it might have...though he also knew, after nearly 3 years of non-use, there had to be some decay to it. Unhooking the snap on his holster, he stepped back and thought, This door opens inward; I don't hear anything behind it....fuck it, I'll kick the door down, see what's inside. On the count of three....one...two....three!
Lunging forward, Joseph kicked at the center of the door, hoping that a good, solid blow to the center would open the doors...with a shattering noise, the doors flung backward; as soon as his foot hit the ground, he pulled his .44 revolver out and went inside, looking as fast as he could for radios, ropes, chains...any supplies they'd need for the operation to come. Searching one equipment counter, he found a box full of handheld radios; checking them, he was satisfied and set the box up on top of the counter. One step down, he mused as he came around from the counter and began rifling through the supplies, now where's the rest of the stuff we need?
