Clayton nodded, but he still clenched the basket of offerings tightly in his right hand, the two copies of the "treaty" in the other. He knew most people today didn't give a damn about signing documents, but it was important to Clayton. It was an attempt to preserve what little remained of diplomacy and cooperation. Maybe, in time, the two groups would merge into one. This new group had a good amount of men, it seemed, which could complement the female-heavy group to which Clayton belonged. And they had a doctor. A doctor. Acer's group had a doctor, though Clayton had never spoken to him.
"A doctor...and they're not shooting us on sight," Clayton turned to Colette and Cade, nodding curtly. "We have something here. Allies, perhaps, against Acer."

Damon felt a rare moment of happiness in all this mess. It was different, he had only known Sam a day yet she seemed so nice. She had her problems, but now who didnt. He was a nervous wreck, willing to kill and socially awkward. As she laid her head against him he was looking through the window and listening to Sam.
Once she raised her head and spoke, he noticed her yawn "If your worried about sleeping it should wear off if we get some sugar into your system. I can make some Coffee if you want. Can get you up and about... I was thinking about setting up watch on the roof. Probably the safest job here... above the street, away from walkers and in the sunshine... BUT if you want to go check stuff out, Ill come with. Seems a little drama outside".
Damon then stretched his arms out and smiled for a moment. Just trying to remember a moment in the last year he had been as at peace as this morning.
Holly helped during the procedure, often thinking how wrong it was that she didn't feel squimish. Truth was, she had found it all fascinating. She had watched Andrei, did what he instructed, and wiped his brow off a few times. He had started to sweat, and that concerned her, but she had kept silent.
Once finished, he said they needed a donor, and without hesitation, she had given him her arm. Sitting next to the table, they had done a direct transfusion. Andrei had gone to rest after he told her how long to let the blood flow for. Her arm rested next to the injured man. He said his name was Simon. She stared at the tube, filled with dark red blood. She was fighting to not dose off herself, as she heard his voice. The sound startled her for a moment. " did fine, Andrei went to rest, and I am giving you some blood." She bit her bottom lip. Holly glanced at the door, wondering if Andrei would come back now that his patient was awake. A few more minutes and she could stop the transfusion. She glanced down at Simon, he was still under the influence of the pain mess and had slurred his words a bit. She had seen and heard Simon speak to Luca, and was curious about that. Luca was a dick, she didn't like him, or trust him. Hell, the fucker had screamed at her to dig her own grave, not something that she was likely gonna ever forget." You know, Luca? Before all this?" She probed softly, not wanting to be overheard.
Simon assumed Luca left for a moment to go find a shirt and get himself cleaned up after his friend had taken care of getting him into the surgical procedure, leaving only him and Holly behind. He remembered where he was, slowly, as his consciousness started to return to him. Beside him sat a cute little redhead that was wired up to him. She was the one donating blood so he could make a recovery. Under his head was a soft pillow and he just stayed still. He knew this recovery would take some time and he also knew that this was valuable time that couldn't be wasted.
"Yea, I knew him...before all this."
When he tried to take a deep breath, he felt the tinge in his side where Andrei had done the surgery to clean him up. He was thankful for it and had no idea about Luca, Andrei and Holly before all this. He had no idea that Luca had threatened either of one of them.
"We went to police academy together. Joined the force together. He grew in the ranks and ended up as my captain. He was respected." And by that, he didn't mean a good guy by any stance. He was respected yes, but the blue wall was always up. He was protected even if his morals were sometimes skewed. They were all skewed when it came to dealing with the lowlifes of Miami. Sometimes you had to do things your own way and both he and Luca, while on patrol together, realized that. Especially when it came to cute sorority girls who had too much to drink at the clubs.
He had no idea how much Luca had told these people and if he was anything like before, he would have said nothing to any of them. Surprise attacks were usually the quickest, easiest ways.

Sam smiled at Damon," I'm alright, just sore and sleepy, but I will be fine." She edged away from him a bit more," you should go up to the roof, if that's what you feel like you need to do." She sat on the edge of the bed, and glanced around," do you know where I put my shoes?" She stood up and her legs were a bit wonky. She made it to the doorway and held onto the frame," I can go up with you, if you don't want to deal with the drama. I'm enough drama on my own." She looked back at him and chuckled.
He looked so content sitting there, and for a split second she frowned. What was she doing? She didn't deserve someone like him. All the shit she had put others through, and here he was, being so nice and sweet. He kissed her so gently, like she was precious, and not realizing she did it her fingers brushed her lips.
Sam moved out of the room and found her boots near the couch. She sat down and reached for them, dragging them over. Socks. She spoke up so he could hear her," where's my bag, I need socks." She didn't want him to think she was looking for her bag of pills.
Cade looked at Collette and nodded. "Right I'll get on it. I'll try and keep down the noise, walkers is the last thing we need with all this chaos already." He smiled and turned back around.
"Might want to just throw away the documents. Isn't verbal agreement enough Clay? Shake on it, with some spit. These people seem pretty low key, not wound tight like you. I think it might come off better if we are to earth."
He didn't give either enough time to aswer. Instead just turned on his heel and walked the other direction. He went back to the trucks and looked Attacked he crew he hand picked from the guards and other personnel. They were a small group so he didn't take much, just the ones he thought were strong and hard workers.
"Alright ladies. Let's get this show on the road," he said to the girls, and one or two guys sitting in the truck. They were of mixed races, six females and two males, all different sizes and shapes. "Stick to axes and the chainsaw, five on the tree. Four axes one chainsaw make it quick.. Two hand back, gun holstered but on watch. The last ones with me. We're going to move those trucks."
Once they all went off Cade climbed in the back of the truck. He put the truck in reverse and backed up till he was at the smashed trucks. He got out, tied pull hitch to the back of the other truck, and climbed back in. Putting it in drive he pulled the one truck off to the side, so the two weren't stuck together anymore.
Luca hadn't answered Simon's questions leading up to the procedure. He was somewhat delirious, and his questions were giving away some things about their past--taking things from people and whatnot. The group was already wary of Luca, and if they all found out what Remy knew...no, they couldn't know. Luca would talk to Simon in private about that.
Luca'd left the room as Simon recovered, and was brooding about Remy. She'd been gone for a while. Should he go after her? What if he couldn't find her? Then they'd both be gone, and Luca may well be lost. Maybe she knew what she was doing. Maybe. He'd give it a few more hours, but if she wasn't back soon, he'd grab Dallas and maybe Anthony and try to find her. Then again, he hadn't seen Anthony in a while. Where was he? He and Jackson had left hours ago. Luca pulled the Remy's ring from his pocket and smiled. "Stubborn," he chuckled under his breath. It was a pretty ring, and as Luca was admiring it, he heard Simon's voice from the room. Ring still in hand, he jogged to the room and found Holly and Simon talking, apparently about their past. Simon hadn't said anything bad though, thank god. And Holly of all people, along with Andrei, was most suspicious of Luca. Luca looked from Holly to Simon before smiling at the woman. "Hey, uh Holly. You mind giving me some time with Simon, here? Been a while. Wanna catch up and all that." He was trying to be as friendly as possible, he didn't want to scare her.
It was only then Luca realized that Holly couldn't leave due to the transfusion. Damn, Andrei knew his stuff. "Oh, oh. Sorry. You, uh, you're hooked up. That's fine. Thanks, Holly."

Anthony's face soured at Candy's question. He inhaled slowly, deciding how to answer her question. "I didn't know your uncle. I'm sorry. I was at the nightclub, so if you recognize me, you've seen me before," he was trying to sound friendly, though he had no good news for her. Though his news wasnt necessarily bad, either. "We only interacted with an old man, Patrick. The...grumpy guy. And later I met a woman named Tala. Those were the only two people from the club I met," Anthony rubbed the back of his head awkwardly before being overcome by a wave of wooziness. That was odd. He shook his head and even gave himself a slap across the face to try and shake it off.
"Tell you what, though. Maybe we can find him. After we establish ourselves here. Maybe one day we'll be able to travel far enough to find him. I have to find someone's brother, too." Anthony smiled at Candy, and his thoughts went to Dakota and Clementine, the two other girls he'd failed. They were probably dead. Maybe not, they did have Mark with them. They had to be heartbroken that they lost Ash, though. Anthony could still remember that day in Miami so clearly. And how he almost died with Ash.
It was then Jackson approached from behind.
Last Edit: Sept 27, 2015 1:29:44 GMT -5 by Deleted
Jackson grabbed Anthony's rifle as the man went over to talk with the little girl. The rifle was pretty nice, and it would be good to have. They needed all the weapons they could get. This was turning out to be one hell of a morning, though, and Jackson was pressed for time considering Anthony would be falling over himself soon.
Collette, Arcade, and Clayton had shown up, though they hadn't come outside. Arcade was helping to move the tree outside, and Clayton was standing there, holding the treaties he loved so much. Jackson remembered when Clayton brought one to Acer and Acer simply laughed. It hadn't only been a peace treaty, but even proposed certain trading deals between the two groups. If any of them saw Jackson, the plan was fucked, so Jackson was not about to go outside anytime soon.
Then, one of Luca's old buddies showed up and was treated by a doctor--Andrei. The man may have not had a degree, but it was close enough. He'd be sure to let Acer know that. Though Anthony would probably sing like a bird, too.
Anthony was talking to the little girl when Jackson saw the first sign of the pills kicking in. Anthony hobbled to the side and slapped himself. It would work to retain consciousness for a moment, but not for long. Jackson needed to get him outside, and they couldn't go out the front lest they be seen by Colette, Arcade, and Clayton.
"Before I came here," Jackson approached from behind, clutching the Anthony's rifle, "I thought I saw some more supplies in the building behind this one. I already got the rifle, let's go out the back and check it out, eh Anthony? Too many new faces outside, this will be easier."
Anthony groaned and made some joke about wanting to sit down all day, Jackson didn't pay attention, and Anthony did indeed follow. They made it outside without a hitch, and just in time. Anthony was out.
((Jackson and Anthony have left the thread, though I will read Candy's response to Anthony))

"I find the content of verbal contracts often to be altered by selective memory," Clayton responded evenly to Arcade. He knew Arcade meant well, but the two didn't see eye to eye on these matters. This appeared to be a large enough group, there had to be someone here who could act on behalf of everyone else. Maybe that Dallas man, or Luca. They seemed able to take charge, or Andrei. The doctor. Clayton would gladly have had a conversation with any of them.
"Just because it didn't work with Acer's group doesn't mean it can't work now." Clayton clenched his jaw as the group went about moving the tree. He did not offer to help. They had enough people and Clayton was too busy observing the interactions of those around him so as to identify a power structure.

Holly was looking a little tired as she gave blood to him and he was thinking she probably had enough.
"You okay? Where'd that doctor go? I don't want to drain you like a vampire there, red."
He tried to sit up a bit but winced at the pain that was muted by the painkillers Andrei had given him. Instead, he just laid back down and stared at the ceiling. Luca had wandered away to a window and was looking down at something in his hand before wandering back over to him and Holly. It was strange seeing Luca like this. He was restrained and reserved. Back in Miami there were no questions as to what they were doing. Their motivations were clear and they were usually in and out within a day, maybe two. When he looked to Luca's hand, he saw the flash of a ring and he joked at first.
"Well, it's about time. With everything we've been through, are you finally asking me to marry you? You know I always thought you had a sweet ass. Good thing your ass never ended up in prison. They'd think the same thing."
He laughed, but winced again at the pain that came from his side. Sim had a hard time keeping a straight face and enjoyed joking around to break any tensions that came around. He did it before the outbreak while out on patrol and back at the station and he did it after when the group was just trying to survive. Those army bastards they wiped out weren't too keen on his sense of humor though. Good riddance.
"Seriously though Captain. What's that ring for?"

Damon had now stood and headed towards the kitchen packing his back pack with some food and ammo. He also grabbed the tool kit. On the side he saw some sunglasses and handed them to Sam "Could be a bit of sunshine up there. Don't want you to get a migraine or something after how you were last night".
He then snuck into the second bedroom and found Sam's bag. He understood her feelings and addiction but this morning she really had to stay clean for a few hours. He found the socks and headed back towards the couch handing them to Sam "Trust me, a bit of fresh air will do you wanders right now. Those painkillers will be in your system for two or three hours. Tell me when the pain returns".
He headed to the door and slung a rifle over his shoulder, waiting for Sam to be ready to go "If you want to bring anything get it now. I found some smokes last night if you want one." Damon lit one up and took a drag leaning against the wall.
Holly stiffened when Luca came into the room. She answered Simon, and by doing so, answered Luca's question about giving them a minute," Andrei gave me a time to unhook us. Just a few more minutes, the. We are done." She stared at Simon's face for a moment, then just turned her head and stared at the watch on her arm. She was counting down the time. She wanted to be out of this room and away from Luca. No way in hell she was comfortable being around him.
When Luca walked near her, she scooted towards the table a bit. His presence obviously unnerved her. Where was Andrei? Why was t he here? She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Exhaled slowly, she felt sick, like her head was spinning.
Holly glanced up and at the clock. Times up. She leaned forward and pulled out the needle from Simon's arm. She placed a folded gauze and some tape over his needle site. Holly did the same with her site. She just wanted to get away from Luca. She tossed the tubing in the trash can next to the table. She stood up, a bit too fast and too soon. Holly bumped her hip on the table as the whole world spun around her. Her hand came Down on Simons leg, as she tried to steady herself.
Post by Dan-Andrei Moldovan on Sept 28, 2015 13:13:40 GMT -5
Andrei lit his smoking pipe whilst laying in the armchair. Maybe Remy didn't like or allow smoking in her home, but he didn't care. He didn't move much, only smoking and looking at the wall for a good while; his daydreaming was interrupted by the sounds of voices in Simon's room. Seems he was up, Holly was talking to him and Luca was there too. Andrei decided to go in and rescue Holly from weird company
"Well, time to get back to work" he said, starting to walk towards the room with the pipe in the corner of his mouth. Andrei entered just in time. Holly seemed to have gotten up too quickly, and was now struggling to keep her balance and he rushed to her side, and helped the redhead steady herself.
"Come along, lass. I'll give you some tea, and you should sit down for a while. I'll be back to check up on you in a minute." Andrei said to Simon, and nodded to Luca before leaving the room with Holly.
"Couldn't help but notice you talked a bit with our patient. Learn anything?" he asked Holly whilst carrying her to the chair where he laid only moments ago. Upon hearing her answer, Andrei would run to the kitchen and rummage around for a strainer and a mug, since Remy already had an electric kettle. He boiled some water quickly, and poured it in the mug which he found in the cabinet above the sink, covering it with the strain and dropping a few dried up plant bits he carried around.
"This'll help you get back on your feet." he said, handing her the mug, making sure she doesn't burn herself on the scalding porcelain and pulling a seat in front of her.
Holly took a few more minutes to make sure he had enough and those minutes seemed to be the longest, most awkward spans of time he had ever felt. He watched Holly and then watched Luca. They avoided eye contact and every step he made closer to her, she took three steps back away from him. Two and two were starting to add up in his mind although the math was completely wrong.
When she finally finished up and plucked the needle from his arm, he tensed, but then relaxed just as quickly. She got woozy and almost fell into him, pressing her hand into his thigh as she almost fell over.
"Whoa there red, you okay? You need to sit down?" He reached for her arm, gripping his fingers around her forearm with a strong grip, even though he was just starting to recover from his own injury. It would have been a lot stronger if he wasn't in pain and drugged up.
But Andrei was back in the room when he started to hear the commotion, escorting her away quickly to get her something to drink and replenish herself. He watched her leave with the doctor and he would make a mental note to pay her back. Maybe one night in the sack before he took off. When the room was cleared he looked back at Luca, now trying to sit himself up. He hated behind down this long and knew he would have to get moving soon enough.
"So what's going on here Luca? You do something to that girl she ended up regretting doing with you?" He smirked as he said that, looking down at the ring again, wondering if it belonged to Holly, now in his possession. He was implying everything in that question and had no regrets asking it. What was odd to him was the fact Luca was still here if he did something to her. He had seen a few girls in this group and his thoughts went to a dark, dark place.
"You having a good time with these girls here, Captain?"
Luca smirked at Simon's questions. He'd almost forgotten how blunt the guy could be. Neither had been angels before or after the world went to shit, but Luca'd always been calmer. Not calm, but calmer. As captain, he had to be, he couldn't let himself fly off the handle as much. If Simon had been in Luca's shoes back in Oklahoma, he probably would have shot Holly and Andrei. And Dallas, if he tried punching him. Luca was simply more cautious. Still smirking, Luca held up the ring and got to one knee. "Simon, after spending so much time apart...it made me realize I need you in my life..." Luca's grin widened. "Simon, will you marry me?" His smile turned into a laugh as Luca stood up once again, pocketing the ring. Before he could continue to ask anything of Simon, Luca noticed Holly's demeanor. She was scared of him. What was there to say? And once Andrei came in, Luca felt even more sheepish. He owed an applogy, but part of him still didn't think he was that wrong. They'd both been traveling with Adolphus, after all. Maybe another time he'd apologize.
"Hey, thanks Holly. And...you, too, Andrei." Luca nodded to both of them before hearing Simon's question about...the hell? Raping Holly? "The fuck man? No, I've never touched her. We had a tense situation a while back. Never really smoothed it over that's all. And this ring...belongs to a friend. She's kinda the leader, I don't know. She led us here at least. I don't know if she still wants the job. She's my friend. She dropped the ring, I'm saving it for her." Luca nodded, as if to convince himself. "She's a good shot. Just as good as you or me," Luca lied, knowing that if Simon knew the whole story, he'd mock him. "And, hell, I'm as much of a leader here as anyone else. Haven't had much time to really have fun," Luca lied once again. In a way, Luca was scared. In a way, he was locked in a room by himself--two halves of himself. Who he once was, and who he was now.
Last Edit: Sept 29, 2015 23:20:25 GMT -5 by Deleted
"God damn man, you're such a fag." He laid back on the table and was totally ready to go find a bed and rest. He wanted to shake this gunshot wound off. On his own, he started to sit up, groaning, rather loudly as he reached out for Luca's arm.
"Come on man, help me to a bed or something. I need to sleep this shit off." He knew damn well he probably shouldn't be moving, but he couldn't stay in this particular spot for the next few weeks. He was certain the doctor would come and protest, but that's all he would do.
Luca helped him and took up the majority of his weight as he got to his wobbly feet almost feeling like he was going to puke from the pain. Luca protested after he made his suggestion and he believed his friend. Luca wasn't really the kind of guy that took what he wanted, when he wanted. But he was the kind of guy that would turn a blind eye to it when the rest of them were doing it. He remembered this one pretty little blonde that protested too much when they went out on a raid a few months into the chaos...
When they finally got him to a bed close by, it felt a little too soft, but it was better then laying on that hard ass table. Things didn't seem to add up. Something was different with Luca.
"So, you came with a group? You followed some girl here who led you here, but you don't even know if she's a leader? So where is she now? If she ain't here to lead, I think you don't have a leader."
He laid down and sighed. Things weren't right. Luca wasn't the same guy he knew back in Miami. Things didn't seem to add up but right now, he didn't really have the energy to start laying hard questions on Luca. They were both cops and they both knew how to press people for answers. Luca knew the tricks of the trade and so did he. He closed his eyes for a second to catch his breath before opening them again and looking to the door. They were both alone and he lowered his voice to speak.
"What's your angle here Luca? What do you have working with these people? Are they like you..like us? Or are they something else? This friend of yours, the supposed leader...does she know what you did?"

Andrei patched Luca's friend up, Holly, the redhead with Andrei, offered her blood up for transplant, so as the man wouldn't die. He had lost a lot of blood. The new group had set to moving the tree out of the way, Dallas found himself wondering if that was a smart idea or not, but the new group had offered help. When the man was stable, both Dallas and Luca had left to fetch a new shirt, easier said than done in Dallas's case. That was his last clean shirt.
He would also want to check on Candy, make sure the girl was okay. And then there was still the matter of the new group. He peeked into the room and saw that Candy was still being watched, she was safe. That much was good. He offered Kim a smile if she looked his way, but then closed the door to the apartment and headed down to meet the group, they wanted someone in charge. No doubt Remy would have laid claim to it if she was here, but she wasn't here. No one had a fucking clue where she was or if she was still alive. Some new guy shows up bleeding all over the place, this new group shows up offering gifts of help and contracts... This was a cluster fuck, and this apartment complex suddenly seemed way too small for everyone. While Luca checked on his friend, Dallas headed outside to handle the other business.
Once outside he saw yet more people moving the tree, he could only assume they were with this new group. And this couldn't have been all of them. Dallas tried to get a head count without looking obvious about it. He wanted to know just what they were up against should these "friends" turn out to be un-welcomed guest. That was the world they lived in now. Amusing really... The world was paranoid before things went to hell. Now...? Now was even worse. At least this group hadn't come rolling in, guns blazing on them. Still, this contract the older man mentioned made Dallas uneasy.
He walked up to the woman, who had her back on him as she watched her men move the tree out of the road, they were efficient, he'd give 'em that. "Sorry about earlier," he said to her. "You cought us at a bad time." He would wait for her to turn around before offering her a smile and a nod. "Name's Dallas." He said as he offered her a hand. "Excuse the lack of shirt. Last one I had went to the bleeder that showed up at our door step." He would shake her hand if she offered one, if not, he'd let it fall to his side.
"Now, you guys wanted to talk to someone in charge. And there was some nonsense about a contract?" He still had a hard time believing it, I mean, who the hell used contracts anymore. It had been two years sense the world ended. No one used contracts anymore... Still, he wanted to hear this woman's story, figure out just what the hell they wanted of his group. He wasn't about to simply jump into bed with them just because they said they were good people. Still, if they meant to help... He wasn't sure he could simply turn them away. They would need help. Remy was right about one thing. The time for running had to end. They needed to look to surviving.... But this complex wasn't going to do it either.
But first things first. He would see what this group wanted, and they would go from there... And if they were lucky, no one else would be shot today.

Candy felt the little bit of hope sparked in her little heart just about slip completely away again. It was more like a long cooled ember, going dark again, since she had long given up finding her uncle. Then again, she never dreamed of finding anyone who had been in the vicinity of where she last saw him either.
She giggled back thinking of old Grumpyface, Patrick. And to Tala, who she didn't now for very long either, but Tala did seem to get along with Grant, her second favorite person back at the nightclub after her foster uncle. Candy nodded, “Mr. Grumpyface always smoked funny cigarettes that made him smell stinky. And Tala got there ust before you did. Tood bad you missed my birthday party. I got to be the Little Mermaid.. And they gave me a doll that I gave to Flopsy. but lost he lost it on the oil rig.”
The possibility of having help again to find the last official family she ever had kept that darkened ember of hope from dying altogether in her young heart. She smiled up to Anthony, being a little confused when slapped himself, ”Kewlies. Maybe we'll even find Kelly and Brad too. I'll help us setttle in, so we can go looking sometime soon.” Thank you, Mister.”
Candy realized she didn't know Anthony's name, but Jackson came up then, and Anthony seemed like he was getting really silly and tired. She took Anthony's joke about sitting down all day rather seriously, because it seemed like might need it. She certainly knew the feeling, and her own young face soured at Jackson being so mean as to make Anthony go look in some building. It was enough to make the little girl sneak off after them. She stayed back, not wanting the mean, curled haired man to see her. She just wanted to see where they were going, so she could tell Anthony how mean she thought Jackson was when they got back.
Candy followed no further than the back door. The curled hair man was meaner than she thought, Anthony looking so tired, he couldn't stand up on his own or barely stand on his own, and that building they were going to search was further away than she thought too. She watched until Jackson and Anthony were out of sight from the back, and quietly snuck back upstairs.
Thinking those two men, neither of whom she knew their names, were just going off scavenging, she didn't tell anyone. Candy went back to her toaster puzzle. Real progress had been made with more than half it was back together. Plenty of small pieces still remained to go back in. Putting the toaster up on a table, Candy organized the pieces and left her notes on how it all had gone together neatly folded beside them.
She could get back to the toaster later. With her notepad to a fresh page, she began to note down and catalog everything she could find in the living room. The little girl started near Kim, and wandered slowly along. Candy rearranged and organized things into groups of three where she could. No one could decipher her short hand, it was her own personal invention, though it did resemble mathematical notation. Translating it for others to read would come later. This shorthand meant she didn't have to really stop, she could just take a slow stroll to jot down what she saw.
Candy smiled to see Dallas when he came up to get a shirt. He seemed to that a lot, since she met him. She made a note to make a list of shirts she found for Dallas. Also if he was back up here, that gunshot and other people downstairs must be going alright. Roaming past Kim once more, she smiled to her, and on into Remy's bedroom.
The sooner she helped these people get settled, the sooner some of them could help her go find her Uncle Danny. That closet looked like a promising place to start. Candy wrangled in a chair, and got to work cataloging what she found in the closet, but also reorganizing. It may not have been a mess before, but when Candy was done, it would be perfectly neat and organized by color, size and warm or cold weather. The chair would help her reach things she was otherwise too short to get to.

The commotion had allowed Clayton and his group to be seen as neutral, at the very least. Not foes. Arcade offering to help move the tree was a sign of good faith as well. Clayton took a few steps towards the entrance of the group's apartment building and was met with no resistance. He still held two copies of the treaty and the gift basket, and was set on finding the healthy cop, Luca, or the doctor, Andrei, or the man named Dallas.
Upon his entry, it took Clayton a while to navigate the apartment building, but he followed the commotion and voices once more and found himself inside the group's primary living space. He smelled the tobacco in the air and soon found its source--Andrei, the doctor. He was talking with some red headed woman, and had just handed her a drink of sorts.
Clayton approached slowly as he stringed his tie--he'd worn his best suit for the event, wanting to make a good impression. It was as clean and without wrinkles as could be given the lack of dry cleaners. He cleared his throat to announce his appearance. "You're Andrei. The doctor," he nodded to Andrei first, and then to the red head. "Did you save him?" Clayton's gaze was sharp and fell exclusively on Andrei at this point.
"My name is Clayton Dumont. I'm part of a group not too far from here. Not the leader, but possibly the only one with a brain." If one didn't know Clayton, they may not have even thought he was joking. He did not smile or chuckle, despite the even tone with which he said the joke.
