Clayton wasn't the best with people. In one hand, he clutched the "gift basket"--a peace offering, of sorts. They'd brought more with them if the group complied, and Clayton was happy to share. This group could be an important ally against Acer and his men. In the other hand, Clayton held two copies of a contract--an agreement of sorts, to be signed by himself and by a leading member of the other group. Then, it was intended, both groups would retain a copy of the contract to remember to honor and uphold its tenants. That was the plan anyways.
Still, Clayton's lack of interpersonal skills showed itself as Colette and Cade spoke as they approached the group. There'd been gunshots which already set Clayton off, and while he had his pistol holstered, he wasn't a great shot. If something was so bad that Clayton had to shoot, there probably wouldn't be much he could do anyways.
A man was injured, and from what Clayton gathered from conversation, he was not a member of the group, not yet anyways. His name was Simon, the man he knew was Luca. Those were the only names Clayton had for the moment, and a man named Andrei.
"We apologize for arriving at what appears to be an inopportune moment," Clayton cleared his throat and paused for a few seconds, choosing his words wisely. "We need only speak with those who consider themselves leaders of this group, or those who have a mind for contracts and...negotiation. We bear no ill will."
Huh, so his story did check out. That meant there was a crazy bitch somewhere shooting people. Assuming he didn't deserve to be shot. Lily would've preferred it if he actually just been bitten. Walkers were easier to deal with than people. They were slow and dumb. People could lie, cheat, steal, shoot you when your back was turned. She didn't care for people all that much, in case that wasn't obvious enough. Oh, speak of the devil, while Lily was on her way out to grab the doctor more people showed up. Naturally, all that noise would have attracted somebody.
Lily would let the others worry about the newcomers as she made the jog across the street towards the building Andrei and Holly were staying in. She knew next to nothing about them, and didn't care to. Lily did respect them for more or less telling Remy to sod off by staying in their own place and not associating with the group. Even the other original tenant of the apartment went off on her own last night. Lily regretted not sticking to her guns and staying downstairs. Nothing good came from her being in Remy's apartment anyway. She would soon disappear into the other building to get the Doc.
June looked up to Aron who was questioning what was going on outside. Must have been quite a thing to wake up to. There didn't seem to be anymore gunshots going off, so something must have been going right downstairs, but it was hard to tell.
“Somebody ran into Smokey's truck outside and started shooting the walkers gathered by the fence. Dallas, Lily, and Smokey are taking care of it.”
June stood up and cautiously approached the window to see even more people she didn't recognize at the fence talking to the others. Lily nowhere in sight.
“T-There are more people now.”
June didn't like this. The current group was overcrowded enough. Now there were more people showing up out of nowhere? It all had to happen while Remy was away, too. Of course.
Sam was glad he had sat down, meant he was going to stay with her. She shifted around and laid down. She abuggled under the blanket he had covered her with," thanks, for staying." She smiled at him and patted the bed next to her," I'm not going to try anything, promise, just be here, please?" She watched and waited," just til I fall asleep. I don't want to be alone." She admitted. It was hard to admit being afraid of being alone, maybe she wasn't as tough as she acted.
Sam touched her fingers on his hand, lightly. " you stayed, you know the truth about me, but you did t go running to the others and spill my secrets, you took care of me, you're a nice guy," far too good for her, she thought. She didn't deserve for him to care about her. She'd done some awful things. Sam stared up at him," if you need to go and check on things, it's ok, I understand. " she rolled over, away from him, drawing her knees up a bit , she closed her eyes.
The morning was off to a flying start, gunshots and yelling, just the usual. At least the gunshots had soon ended when he had entered the room, the last thing they wanted was any unwanted attention. By the sounds of it, June didn't know entirely what was going out there herself, it must have been something quite peculiar.
"Oh great. A typical start to the day."
All the Smokey man needed was to get rid of the tree outside and he would have been all set to leave. Now he was either going to be delayed from leaving even longer or forced to stay with the group. If the yelling was coming from him, he couldn't blame him for it. Aron watched as June looked out the window again.
"More people? There's enough as it is. How many?"
Aron was pretty sure that nobody wanted more people either, it was already hard. He didn't know if he should have gone down to help the others, he didn't know how things were going to go. He moved closer to the window to get a better look.

The older man, Clayton, had spoke of gifts and contracts for people in charge or with a nac for understanding contracts... Contracts, really? A man was bleeding to death and they wanted to shake hands and go over contracts... What the hell happened to people? He knew the answer... End of the fuckin' world happened to people. The walking dead happened to people...
"Look, we're infra busy here fella." He said as he and Luca, both now shirtless carried the wounded man into the apartment complex. "So how about you lend a hand or shut up and stay out of our way till we get him fixed. He was a bit snappy with the older man, but we was using his last cleanish shirt to stop the bleeding of a dying man. Covered in that man's blood and these new people wante to have tea and talk contracts!
Regardless of what the new people chose to do, stay and help, stay and watch, or leave. They had a wounded man to tend too. Lily had gone to fetch the doc. That was good. Thankfully smokey was here. He looked at the man, still going on about his truck. "We'll look at your truck after all this. We will fix it, for now, help us with this guy. Get the door." Telling the man to get the door did two things, reminded the other group that while they were tied up with a dying man, they were not alone. There was another with a weapon able to shoot should they mean trouble. The other was to keep him with the group so he wasn't taken. These people might have come waving the banner of peace, but that didn't mean Dallas was going to trust them fully. Not till he had a proper chance to gage them and listen to what they had to say. For now, they needed to patch this man up and then send him on his way.
Luca had helped him carry the man into the building and ease him on the couch. Not knowing how much Luca knew about first aid, Dallas spoke up. "Keep pressure on both sides of the wound. Smokey, get some water... Were going to need it. I'll see if there's a needle and towels or something till the doc gets here." The orders were given, and these men had a part to play. What he wouldn't give for a few more armed hands just in case...
He wouldn't have been able to stop the group if they had come inside, and he really had more pressing issues to deal with. Once Andrei got here and took over, he and Lily could see what the hell this other group wanted... Till then, it was the take a number game... Everyone had their orders and they would move to see them done. He hoped. So far, they'd all done what he had told them to do... Which was a good sign for this friend of Luca's.
Simon barely heard the voices as he felt himself getting weaker. He was more pissed that he was losing consciousness over a gunshot wound to the side then anything and as Luca propped him up, Dallas held the shirt to his side, pressing into the wound that was already burning. He laughed, although it was a nervous laugh as they started to bring him inside.
"Doc, you got a doc here? Well that's pretty awesome," said in his New York accent. Even though he lived in Miami more then he did in New York, the accent remained. It was something he never shook, considering how many other Yankees he was around in Florida. Didn't bother him in the least.
He was eased down on the couch on the first floor and he looked around as the beats of sweat ran down his face.
"Nice place. You take this building from someone Luca?"

Damon had put his feet up for a few moments and lit up a smoke whilst Sam had rolled on her side. With his other hand he pulled the blanket a bit more over her shoulder. He was thinking if he truly had been a nice guy or was he acting weak. He was covering for her habits, ones that could endanger people and herself. This left him the conclusion that he was either acting out of charitable kindness or his own personal motives.
He took another drag and looked outside "I didnt feel right last night because I knew you had taken something... And you threw yourself at me seconds before you went into that fit..." He placed a hand on her shoulder wandering if she was asleep already.
"Its not that I dont like you... Im just wont use all this mess to take advantage of someone. Thats far too slippery a path. Just because the concept of death has changed, doesn't mean we are free of right and wrong. I almost let wrong control me last night...". He stubbed the smoke out on a bedside ash tray whilst looking at Samantha's blonde hair for a few moments. He waited at first to be sure she was asleep thinking about what modifications to the roof could be made, maybe into a watch post above the streets.
“Three. Four counting the man who pulled up, but I don't know if they're together.”
Looked like the trio were just talking while Dallas and Luca tended to the wounded. Hell of a time to just be standing around chatting. At least they weren't attacking them, or anything. That didn't mean it wouldn't happen, either. For all they knew these could have been scouts gauging their threat level. June wasn't going to be much help if a firefight broke out. While she learned how to shoot from her father who was an army veteran, she didn't have a gun. She doubted she earned the trust of the group enough to be handed one. June would just stay put unless one of the others came up asking for more hands.
Sam laid there and listened to him. She felt him pull the blanket up some on her shoulder. She could smell the scent of his cigarette. She sighed softly," Damon, I am glad you didn't, not that I wouldn't, I make enough bad decisions for both of us last night." He was still sitting there," I don't think and I just go on impulse cause of the pills." She rolled back and sat up bit," I do like you, you're nice, well, you're nice to me." She stared at his face for a moment, then smiled and leaned towards him," we could try this again, with me sober." Sam stared at his face, she was closer and could feel his breath on her cheek. If he didn't stop her, she was going to kiss him. It was a simple kiss, nothing forceful or wanton like she had kissed him last night.

Damon had felt a small sense of relief and pride as she told him he had done the right thing the night before. His mind became a haze as he looked at the window. Sam suddenly came into his vision smiling and leaning towards him. He heard her speak and was taken by surprise, his finger tips began to shiver until the world began to slow down for one second.
He raised his finger to her lips for a second and looked her in the eyes. Thinking that after the mistakes of the previous night he needed to get this right. He then in his head counted to three before placing his hand on her cheek and softly kissing her.

Andrei noticed quite a few new faces standing around the building, but there were no time for introductions. Following Lily, he simply said "'morning!" to them and continued on his way.
Inside, he noticed Dallas and Luca trying to keep a guy from dying.
"'morning, lads!" he said to them. The fact that he got to do something of his old job gave Andrei new energy and managed to lift his spirits a bit. After dropping his weapons on the floor, he left the supplies on a nearby table and went straight for the bathroom to wash his hands. In less then a minute, he walked back in the room, moving the satchel on his belt slightly more to the front and took out a paper pack, from which he removed a pair of latex gloves.
"Ladies and gentlement, there's nothing in my sleeves, as you can see." he reached back into the satchel with his right hand, and removed a forceps, spinning it on his ring finger. "Through and through?" he asked, lifting the rag Dallas was pressing, to take a look.
Another person came into the room where he was laid out on the couch, bleeding. Dallas and Luca were helping him, keeping pressure on the wound until someone could patch him up and this dark haired fellow with an annoying spring in his step seemed to be the one. He looked at Dallas with sweat across his brow knowing this was going to get worse before it got better.
"Thanks brother. I appreciate the help."
Laying his head back on the hard pillow of the couch he looked at the shirtless Luca and laughed nervously again. He wondered how awful this was going to be without any sort of numbing agent. He had been shot at before, but never hit by a bullet. He had to fight criminals and had suffered bruises, scrapes and cuts before that could easily be treated at a crime scene, but Captain Sultana would have none of that. Every time he had to go off to the hospital to get patched up. It was different now though. There was no such thing as comfort. "You the doc? Yea, through and through. Pretty clean as far as I know, but you should take a look. I don't want to die from infection."

"Mhm." Andrei reacted to Simon's response. The guy did sound a bit weak, but that only meant he head to hurry. "Dallas, Luca, give me a hand. Help me turn him on his side, with both wounds as high up as possible. This way." he began pulling Simon's body the way he wanted him to be turned, so all the blood gathered inside his body wouldn't pool next to the wound and make it near impossible to close it.
He checked the back wound as well, and sighed deeply. Some quick surgery was needed, his peritoneum was damaged to shit, and the risks of leaving it like this were too great.
"Well...shit...I'm going to have to cut you open. Next time you get shot, try to do so in the limbs." After a slight pause, while Andrei looked around, he began giving orders. "Right, Luca, I need a table in the kitchen or the bathroom, whichever is larger. Get a clean sheet on that, then a few more on the side and some rope or duct tape. Dallas, in my apartment there's a duffle bag with medical supplies. I need it, fast. While you're outside, get someone with some nursing or fist aid experience in here, immediately; oh, and send someone with blood type...what type are you?" Andrei turned to Simon for the answer. There wasn't much time, the easiest option would've been to kill the guy straight away, but it looked like they were keen on keeping him alive.
"Patient, did you drink any alcohol today? Do you have any heart problems? Have you ever received lidocaine?" The age old questions.
Holly had followed behind Andrei, not saying a word. She wanted to learn what he wanted to teach her, just not with so many eyes. She glanced at a few of the faces, then cast her eyes down and watched Andrei's back. She stood at the door and watched and listened as he went to work.
Listening to him say he needed the duffel bag, she saw Dallas move and held up a hand," I'll get it, I know right where it is." She turned to go and heard him say something about blood,"I'm O negative, , does that help?" She didn't want to waste time, waiting for his answer. The red head disappears at a run as she went and got the bag of supplies. She ran there and back. It didn't take her long she brought it into the room when she returned," here, Andrei."
Good moods must have been contagious, even Lily was in a better mood coming out of the other apartment than she was going in. Turned out all she needed was a means to vent out frustration. Inanimate objects were always good for that. Lily stayed over in the corner, arms crossed and leaning against the wall as she watched the doctor at work.
He was going to have to cut him open? Oh, that was going to be joyous. Luckily, Lily wasn't the type of woman to squeal over a little blood, or a lot of it. She was more concerned with the man turning into a walker halfway through. Pondering how fast she could draw her weapon to shoot the guy in the head if he turned. Maybe it wouldn't come to that.
“So, who shot you?” she asked Simon.
Lily thought the question was best asked now, just in case he didn't make it. Learning who was going around shooting people was kind of important.

Holly did follow Andrei, and proved to be useful immediately. He liked that she fetched the bag immediately, faster than he would have thought. Meanwhile, Luca managed to set up the kitchen into a makeshift operation table. Before they started moving the man in there, Andrei hurriedly popped open 2 vials and injected them into Simon's buttock.
"That's the pre-anesthetic. Hopefully you didn't lose too much blood." he spoke to the patient while they were carrying him into the kitchen. "After I give you the spinal injection, I'll get to work immediately. It is going to hurt like hell at first, but we've already wasted enough time. O negative, right? Brilliant. Holly!" they had already set him down on the table, and Andrei was already preparing for the surgery. Right now, he was fixing a cannula on Simon's forearm, to which he will attach a bag of saline, and inject a hemostatic agent to reduce the bleeding.
By now, Holly had answered his call, arriving into the room. "Run outside, tell them to get anyone else with 0 negative in the living room, after that wash your hands twice, up until under the elbow, wipe on a clean towel, then come back in and scrub in. I'll need an extra pair of hands. Same goes for one of you two!" he turned to Dallas and Luca. "Anyone else, stays outside, with the door closed, in silence. If I holler, any one person can poke their head in and see what we need. Otherwise, no one is to come in here. Alright?" he was now speaking to everyone who was in the apartment and could hear him. Once they were all going about their business, he started prepping his instruments. Two sets of single use microsurgery kits, serynges, spinal needles, vials of various drugs, suture sets, a BP cuff. He'd have to use the expensive, high-end stuff. In this situation, the reusable things would slow him down, since they needed prepping.
Once Holly and the other helper returned, Andrei pulled out 3 sets of white gowns, bonnets and masks, along with 3 pairs of latex gloves from the duffle bag, and showed them how to put these on without compromising their sterility. The gowns and bonnets were kept in a sealed metal container, destined to be used for sterilizing them. Everything was set, now it was time to anesthetize Simon. Andrei turned the man on his side, as he did earlier and with the others' help, he put the man in the required position and prepared the anesthetic in a small seryinge. It was a combination of various drugs. "Now, I want you to bring your knees to your chest, and wrap your hands around them. Head down. Good. Good. You're going to feel some pressure in your back, don't worry. I know what I'm doing." He quickly sterilized the area around the man's chest with iodine and inserted the needle, which went in the intervertebral smoothly. Once the resistance Andrei felt in the needle suddenly dropped, it meant he was in the subdural cavity, and he stopped, removing the needle's stopper to let a few drops of CS fluid drip, before injecting the chemicals. With one swift movement, he removed the needle and serynge, throwing them into the nearby sink, and covered the man with one of the clean sheets, cutting them where the wounds were.
"Okay, ready? Let's start." Andrei made a small incision on the man's back, making the bullet wound a bit larger, to start the operation. The hemostatics were already working, there had been hardly any extra bleeding, but things looked messy inside. It would take him a few minutes to close the back incision, along with the peritoneum, but this was patchwork suturing the separated tissues and cauterizing the bleeding vessels, since he did not have time to properly ligature them. The real trial would begin once he was done here and would have to start work in the front. After the back was finished, he set the man belly up, and ask that Simon be tied to the table with the duct tape Luca brought, at his forehead, neck and shoulders. A precaution, should the man turn.
During the operation, Andrei was mostly silent, until its end, an hour or so after it started, only speaking to call for someone to be a blood donor. Once it was done, he'd dress the wounds and then crash into the nearest armchair he could find.
(I'll let you guys decide who comes in, and have all the dialogues. I put this post up so you wouldn't have to wait on me to return or post from my trip. Happy gaming!)
Simon groaned as the doctor told him he would need surgery. That was not something he wanted to hear, although he knew it was probably coming anyways. He just hoped he would come out the other end no worse for wear and a scar for his troubles.
"The name's Simon, not patient, okay doc? And yea, I may have had a shot of whiskey or two last night."
He tried to sit up, but he was eased back down by the doctor.
"Type O. Good thing too. Looks like your pretty nurse can help me out." He gave Holly a wink and was trying to smile through it all even though he was facing a world of shit. Lily asked about who shot him and he wasn't sure exactly what to say. Was it any of their business what happened? Not really. He may have been shot, but at least he finished the job. He made a story up on the sly.
"Some woman, I was walking down the road, she was armed and she just jumped out of nowhere. I think she was half dying, maybe got bit or something. She was delirious. Just shot me. I got the hell away from her as fast as I could."
When the needle went in, he did his best to keep his cool, but he couldn't help but tense up and groan, loudly. When the lights went out the operation started.

Sim woke up and he had no idea what time it was or even where he was. He was a bit delirious from the procedure and when he was able to speak, it was with a bit of a slur.
Colette took it all in. This was complete chaos. She glanced at Clay," let's just hang back for a bit, let them take care of the bleeder, then go from there. " she turned back to Cade," go on and get those others working on moving this tree and the trucks, clear the road." She winked at him, he knew what to do.
Colette leaned against the gate and looked at Clay," might wanna set that down, I got a feeling we are waiting for someone that is really in charge." She watched the others move around, she put faces to memory and tried to match names and faces. The guy coming out of the other apartment building must have been the doc, Andrei, she took real note of him. A doctor was a valuable commodity.
He kissed her , it was a sweet gentle sort of gesture. Sam smiled against his lips. She lowered her head and laid it against his chest," that was nice, starting over was definitely a good idea." She listened to his heartbeat, and closed her eyes. She was snuggled all up against him, one arm draped over his waist.
The window was still open, and she could hear all the noise from outside. Voices and then it sounded like tools, like yesterday when that guy was working on that tree. She lifted her head and looked at him," should we go and see what's going on? I don't want the others coming down on you because I am antisocial." She sat up away from him a bit and smiled," sides, tonight you can do this while I sleep." She chuckled softly and then yawned. What did he give her? She really was getting sleepy. Sam glanced at him," maybe I should stay here and you should go and be social, but I will go with you, if you want me to."
