Meanwhile, back North at Coleman Young Airport in Detroit, Michigan. A few miles North of Belle Isle. Black outlined area.
Commander Damen Smull had broken up the group he had into different sections of mini groups. One was his Security Detail that was now five teams, four patrolling the grounds while the fifth was up in the tower keeping a birds eye over the area with either Hunting Rifles/ Assault Rifles with Scopes or with Binoculars. Second was the builders that is making the barricades and Security structures for Damen's Security detail teams. The last group was Medical unit's and Supply distribution personnel since resources are going to be limited for a bit of time until they can get either a steady flow of supplies coming in from Belle Isle or they can make a stock pile of supplies from scavenging from the surrounding area around them. Until then, they had their supplies stashed inside of the medical tent which was sitting next to the tower so that it and the staff inside of the tent could be better protected encase of invading Raiders/ Bandits.
With his SMG in hand, him and his small team that he had began to make their way from there startin position near the Terminal of the airport and made their way towards the building. Moving closer, he said to his team. "Alright men and ladies. We don't know what we are going to be walking into in there, so get your close quarters weapons out. If you don't have a firearm for such a purpose, get your melee weapon's out and when we who do have weapons are reloading, you'll move ahead of us and start taking out the dead until we give you the word to move back behind us. Understood?" They all nodded their heads as one had a Shotgun and one had two handguns. The only one who didn't have a firearm for close quarters took out a machete and was ready. Letting out a long breath he had been holding, he reached out to the one door while the one team member who's name was Daniel reached for the other who had a shotgun. They both Swung the doors open and they all ran inside. Taking up firing positions, they scanned their different sectors that they faced and when it was first clear, Damen started to move with his team further into the Airport Terminal building. Moving deeper in, they past the front row of desks where people checked in their bags and got their Tickets checked over.
Leaning over the row, he saw dried up blood on the ground. Pointing over, he had two of his people (One with the two handguns and the one with the Machete) to climb over and check out the back offices that was behind the counter while Damen and Daniel moved further down. His cheek rested on the extended stock as Daniel kept the shotgun in her hands and by her waist. Swiveling the barrel of his gun from corner to corner, his eye looked down the sight as they all kept on high guard since they didn't know what was left inside of the airport that could still be trapped in the depths of the unknown. The two covered more then half way through until they heard the sound of handguns blasting off behind them from where they left the two to check out. As he was turning to look behind him, he caught sight of a small group of the dead moving towards them from the one connecting bridges where a 747 Jumbo jet sat for time to make waste of it. "Contact, Contact!" Damen shouted as he dropped down to a knee and began to open fire on the dead that was pouring from the bridge. But he noticed that the dead were starting to grow in numbers as there must have been a massive build up of the dead inside of the jet. Daniel rushed ahead and began to open up with her shotgun. Damen Moved up along with her as he kept firing controlled bursts. "Reloading!" He said as he swapped the empty clip for a fresh one. As he slapped in the new one and let the receiver go to feed in a new round, Daniel was blasting until she was empty as well and needed to reload. Getting up to his feet, he turned the Submachine gun to full auto and began to open up as he fired a stream of 9mm bullets into the dead as they were piling up on the walk way of the bridge.
Daniel's shotgun took longer to reload and his second clip was empty. Letting go of his gun as it fell to this side from the sling, he took out his sidearm and began to fire the heavier caliber handgun round, the .45 and just watched as the bullets wreaked havoc on the dead as rotting matter of the heads flew backwards and even took out some behind of them. Daniel joined back in and shortly after, their firing had stopped as the dead's bodies lay on the ground in small mounds leading up to the airplane. "We will check that out after we go through the rest of building. Reload your Shotgun." They both reloaded their weapons and they began to walk further in. Every now and then, they opened fired on a few of the dead that was around corners or inside small rooms. After clearing out a small room where unclaimed luggage sat, Daniel said to him. "Airport Security, Gotta love them..."
