After leaving Haley, Dr. Pepper and the other survivor whose name she'd never gotten earlier and checking in on Sarah and Masumi back at the Main Castle - and congratulating both of them on the news that they were going to be parents in about six-seven months - Stephanie stepped back outside and began walking towards what was the place she stayed at on the grounds at San Simeon - the Airstream that was home not only to Stephanie but to two of the women she considered herself closest to in this world: Rhode Christensen and Jordan McAllister (the third woman in question, Brianne Fujisaki, still kept a room inside the Main Castle).
In one sense, it was an odd triangle of sorts: both Stephanie and Rhode were, in past years, well-hewn criminals while Jordan was a young girl with her whole life seemingly in front of her....but in another sense, the three of them had grown to care about each other, each one imparting a little bit of their own selves to the other two and receiving a little bit of the other two in themselves. Outside of her relationship with Rachel back in Baltimore pre-apocalypse, she considered both Rhode and Jordan (and Brianne as well) the closest thing to family she still had in this world and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for any of the three of them; not a single thing in the world. Sometimes, it was hard for Stephanie to figure out which of them she cared for the most, but she also knew that without them, she would've likely eaten a bullet by her own hand ages ago.
Walking up to the Airstream's door, Stephanie opened it and stepped inside, walking over to the small kitchen table and sitting down, rubbing her eyes and trying to get rid of the stress that had built up inside of her over the past few days because of everything that had taken place around San Simeon....resting her elbows on the table, Stephanie propped her head in her hands and wondered how people could be so evil nowadays. Even when I was ripping and robbing drug dealers back in Bawlmer, I never laid a gun on no one who wasn't in the game, she thought, and now anyone with a gun can shoot and rob and rape and pillage; where the hell did our fucking humanity go to?!?
That question bounced around inside her mind as she slowly grew sleepy and tired; after fighting to keep her eyes open, Stephanie's eyes slowly grew shut and she ended up falling asleep in the Airstream, her head resting in her hands as she sat at the table, her dark locks falling around her head as she sat there asleep....
