Seeing Chris rounding the corner, Kate smiled as her wife hugged her and gave her a peck on the lips in happy relief... "Hey, don't leave me like that again! I want to be by your side, no matter what," Chris said, brushing some of Kate's hair aside.
"I know, I shan't do it again," Kate replied, smiling in turn and giving Chris a kiss on the cheek. "Listen, whoever's around is still in this area; let's make a quick sweep of the outside, then I'll call back inside the cathedral...if I don't hear already, we'll call the truck back here and start searching the area in detail, alright?" still holding Chris close to her. "Now, let's see if there's anyone still here, okay?" Kate added, looking around to see if there was anything still in the area.

Chris listened to Kate's plan and nodded with a grin before she looked around herself. She was holding her wife with her left arm, tense and protective, while her other held her staff for protection and ready to swing at a moment's notice. To get started, she patted Kate's rear a bit playfully as if to give her "good luck", before she turned her back around with her staff in both hands and looked around to make sure there were no onlookers, stalkers, or undead on their asses.
"I really hope whoever is in the area is still alive and kicking, I really don't want to be out here for someone that's dead...", she said over her shoulder to Kate as she continued guarding the area where she could.

"I really hope whoever is in the area is still alive and kicking, I really don't want to be out here for someone that's dead...", Chris said over her shoulder to Kate as she continued guarding the area where she could.
"No kidding," Kate replied, walking over to the corner of the cathedral and peeking around; seeing the rest of their small band from the Island, she whistled to them, signaling them to go down the side street just in front of them before rejoining them at the cathedral. "Let's make a sweep of the outside, Chris, then we'll go inside and see if anyone's still around," winking as she began moving along the outside of the cathedral, hoping someone was still around. I'd hate to go back empty-handed, she mused, adding, I also hope Sarah doesn't know I'm out here and not back at the bridge...

Chris nodded in agreement before priming her hold of her staff defensively before she made her way around the outside of the cathedral, the other side of where Kate was, and took slow, careful steps around and in the grass to not only listen for the undead but to also keep her own presence in silence. She remembered back before she became a part of Belle Isle, she was a simple girl on her lonesome, fending herself from the zombies with nothing but her staff and wits, and now she was out here again, vulnerable to the knowledge she knew nothing about the place. At least Kate was from Michigan, she knew the area. That being said, there was a certain...charm about being out there; she could show off for Kate, she could test her own might against a zombie or two, like what she did prior to gaining entry. But she feared her time at Belle Isle may have made her soft...should she even attempt?

Taking careful, measured steps, Kate - with Chris nearby - made her way around the outside of the cathedral, her senses alert for anything out of the ordinary; indeed, the only signs and sounds she could hear other than Chris's footfall behind her was the sound of the Belle Isle vehicle slowly heading down a side street, the foursome on-board keeping their eyes and ears open. It was a slow yet meticulous way of surveiling a location before going in. Too many times, Kate knew, there'd been of someone not making sure the area was safe before entering a building or residence and getting surprised by walkers or bad guys.
After several minutes of searching, Kate had the sneaking suspicion that whoever was around had unfortunately either passed on or, iof they were still amongst the living, had left the area altogether. "Well, that was a nice search," Kate said rather dryly. Looking around, she pulled out a flaregun from an inside pocket; as she was checking to make sure she had a couple of flares in hand, she added, "Five more minutes and I'll fire off a flare here; that'll signal the truck I rode out here on to return and pick us up; once we do, we'll head back to Belle Isle."

Hailey didn't have any flares left, Quin was bleeding out and she didn't have much time left, she grabbed the pistol and opened the door to the staircase then ran down the stairs, making her way past the body's then the makeshift targets that were used as a firing range, she ran out the door leading to the outside of the water park that was now they're firing range, she ran across the field to the cathedral and crossed the street, she then noticed a blonde leading a brunette around the corner, "My friend, he's hurt, he won't make it if he doesn't get help, please, he's over at the water park" she said as she tried to get them to follow her across the street and the field to the water park

Before either Kate or Chris could say or do anything, they heard what sounded like someone running towards them; seconds later, someone appeared, looking somewhat disheveled and out of breath.... "My friend, he's hurt, he won't make it if he doesn't get help, please, he's over at the water park" she said as she tried to get them to follow her across the street and the field to the water park.
Sizing up the situation, Kate wasn't about to leave anyone outside - especially given that the weather was turning both colder and cloudier than it'd been just a little earlier. "Take us to him," she said, holding her backpack in front of her while she made sure her medkit was with her. Glancing over at Chris, she said, "Soon as we can see what's going on, I'll shoot that flare off and we'll head back," hoping they weren't too late to save whoever was hurt...

Hailey led them across the street and the field to the makeshift firing range that once was a water park, and up the stair case past the dead bodies to the roof access she opened the door then said "he's over there" as she pointed at Quinn who was laying next to the AC unconscious, she put the gun in the back of her pants waist line as she walked over to where she left the duffle bag and grabbed the AR 15 then put in inside the bag before zipping it and throwing it over her shoulder holding onto the strap with her right hand, once she returned to the other two she could only watch as she was to small and wouldn't be much help

Following the woman into the building and up the stairs to the roof, Kate immediately rushed over to the unconscious man, who appeared to be bleeding from gunshot wounds. Getting out her medkit, Kate began working to see if there were any other wounds; a quick exam showed he could be saved but they didn't have much time. "Chris," she said, holding out her flaregun, "take this and shoot off the flare inside," not waiting for a reply before turning to the other woman and adding, "As soon as Chris pops that flare, the rest of our little group will be here in not time but we'll have to help your friend down. Chris, I'll need you to lead the way back down; hopefully, our ride'll be down there, ready and waiting."
Reaching over for her backpack, she grabbed her radio and switched it on. "Belle Isle, Belle Isle, this is Kate. Tell Medical to be ready to receive one gunshot victim...and tell Outpost 31 to be ready to lift those barricades up as soon as we get to the Bridge." Throwing her radio back inside her backpack, Kate said, "Let me make sure he'll survive the trip back and then we'll take off, alright?"

Meanwhile, back in Communications....Having paced the floor inside the communications room at Belle Isle, Sarah was about ready to charge out there to the MacArthur Bridge and find out what was going on herself when the radios crackled... "Belle Isle, Belle Isle, this is Kate. Tell Medical to be ready to receive one gunshot victim...and tell Outpost 31 to be ready to lift those barricades up as soon as we get to the Bridge." Kate's voice sounded sharp and crisp, a sure sign something was up.
Without waiting for anything additional, Sarah grabbed a handset and spoke into it. "Kate, I'll have them ready; just get back here as soon as you can, okay?" Switching frequencies, she called over to Outpost 31, which watched over the Island's only access with the rest of Detroit. Ellena answered, "Outpost 31, go ahead."
"Ellena, tell the guards to be ready to hoist the barricades up when Kate and the rest of our people out there get back, understood?" Sarah said, not mincing words. She wanted her people back and the sooner, the better. Looking over, she saw one of her trusted advisors and added, "Beardie, get down to Medical and tell them to be ready to receive a gunshot victim once Kate arrives, okay?"
"I'm on it," he said, rushing out of Communications as Sarah sat down and thought, Please, God, let whoever they picked up survive....

Hailey was to small and wouldn't be know help carrying him down the stairs she would only get in the way, she opened the door and let the other two go first with Quentin, she then followed them down the stairs and past the bodies through the makeshift firing range to the front door, hailey opened the door then held it opeN and waited

As she waited for Chris to fire off the flaregun so that their pickup would arrive, Kate began to realize she was going to need Chris's help carrying Quentin down the stairs as they would need the younger girl's help leading them back down the stairs to the street. "Chris, after you fire off that flare, I need you to...."
Suddenly, she - along with everyone else around - heard what sounded like someone blaring a car horn every few seconds. "You guys hear that?" Kate asked. After a few more seconds, she rapidly gave out orders to everyone. "Chris, fire the flaregun, then help me get Quentin to his feet," pausing to make sure he wouldn't bleed out on the way down to the street. "Miss," she said, pointing towards the girl whose name she still didn't know, "Lead us back down the stairs to the street; there should be a small truck somewhere nearby that's going to pick us up and take us back to our compound. Of course," she added rather calmly and dryly, "we might also get some unwelcome visitors, thanks to whatever jackass is honking that stinkin' carhorn, so keep your eyes open for us, alright?" smiling at the young girl as she waited for the flaregun to go off.

Chris must've misheard Kate due to distance, because she just now heard the demand for the flare gun use even despite the blaring alarm she was now hearing. At once, she aimed her flare gun skyward and pulled the trigger, and the even louder blast of gunfire was heard as a colored plume of smoke and flame shot upwards into the sky, accompanied by a whistling sound followed by a similar burst of color, before she turned back towards Kate, her staff tense in her other hand.
"I did it, Kate! What next? Oh, damn it. I'll go see what's causing that damn ruckus! The pick-up should be here shortly!", she said before she ran off out of sight to see what the source of the alarm was--or rather, who or what was making it go off.

"Alright!" Kate replied just as Chris headed downstairs to see what was going on; rather than call Chris back, Kate took things into her own hands; with all the strength her frame could muster, she stood Quentin up as best she could, then looped his arm around her neck and over her shoulders, holding him as tight as she could. Although doing this meant she couldn't reach for her sidearm if they encountered anything, Kate hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary when they came up the stairs, so she figured there was nothing to worry about. "Miss....miss!" Kate whispered, pointing towards the young girl. "Let's go; lead us back downstairs, okay?"

Hailey stayed next to Quinn and helped Kate put him down, "go help her, ill stay with him" she said as she waved Kate off, Hailey was especially grown up for her age, but who wasn't nowadays, She could see Quinn was in and out of consciousness from the loud noises that mostly came from the car alarm, but was euphoric and didn't know what was going on (Sorry For the short post)

(OOC: That's no problem, Quentin.)Meanwhile, back in Communications...."Sarah, this is Perch," said the perch guard, who was watching the area Kate had headed out to with long-range binos', "I got a flare going off over that location."
Sarah groaned a moment; if Kate and her team had to shoot off a flare, that meant things had gotten fast and hot out there; running a hand through her sandy-blonde hair, Sarah was tempted to put the Island on full alert but instead decided to simply wait and see what happened. "Perch," Sarah said over the handset, "keep an eye on things out there; let me go what's going on, okay?"

Seeing the young girl wanting to help, Kate decided not to interfere, opting to wait until she was ready; once she was, the two of them began helping her injured friend down to the street, pausing every so often to check and make sure no one - human or walker - was around to interfere with their transit or ambush them on the way down. As they got closer to the ground floor and the relative safety of the outdoors, Kate looked over at her and asked, "What's your name, miss?"

Hailey not really paying attention as she's checking their surroundings making sure nothing had been attracted to the noise and would sneak up On them, "oh what?, oh, Hailey" she had a hard time talking and wasn't one to talk on the job, she had her hand on the handle of the knife that was in its sheath on the front right side of her hip, "his names quientin" she said picking up the pace to get ahead so she could be the first one down the stairs, the door is right next to the stair case and Hailey walked to the door and opened it then waited for the other two to pass through, "alright, go check that noise out, yous got an extra walkie or something? In case the truck shows up?"

"Nice to meet you, Hailey; my name's Kate," Kate replied upon hearing the young girl's name, pausing only to check things here and there as they made their way down to the street, where hopefully Chris - and their transport back to Belle Isle - would be waiting. As they went along, Kate was pleasantly surprised at how adroit Hailey was as they helped carry Quentin down the stairs.
Hearing Hailey ask whether she had a walkie-talkie with her, Kate said, "Yeah, in my backpack; hang on," pausing to turn so that Hailey could grab hold of it; as she turned, she said, "Just press the key and talk into it; the channel on it should feed back to our community at Belle Isle."

Running as fast as he could to the corner of the building, Joseph put his back to the wall, his breath curling away in cold tendrils as he fought to catch his breath; from his position, he could hear what sounded like a small group of people inside, coming down to street level. Checking once more that his lever-action was loaded and ready to go, he waved in Kara & Rizzo's direction, trying to signal them to stop honking the car horn as he braced himself against what he believed was the front door of the building, waiting to see whoever it was coming down the stairs and hoping they were hostile...
