As they headed back into the yacht club building - Tegan, Julie, Thomas and their PST - Tegan stayed right close to Julie; to her, anything that tried to get to them would have to go through her to get to Julie...taking the steps two at a time, she felt a slight twinge in her leg but nothing more, just the ravages of early middle-age for her. Remembering the vehicles that had passed them by earlier, Tegan started to ask Thomas what was going on outside when they encountered Bailey, who had come from downstairs, holding Tyler and...crying by the looks of it, Tegan thought.
Watching as Julie took hold of baby Tyler from Bailey, Tegan was about to ask what was wrong when Bailey beat her to the punch... That guy.... That old guy in the hotrod.... He said...... he said that Lane and Charly were dead. --- I didn't want to believe him but he knew so much he knew their names and he knew about Busch Gardens and he knew about Lane missing his hand.. Julie i think they're gone! Julie?
Tegan stepped back a step, trying to digest what their daughter had just told them when she watched her wife collapse to the floor; kneeling down, Tegan sat and pulled Julie up onto her lap, her upper body resting on her lap as she sat there, brushing hairs from Julie's face and whispering to her, "You're going to be alright, Julie; you're going to be alright...."

Inside the Medical Center.....As a couple of Belle Isle residents helped lift Melody onto a stretcher inside the medical center, Kate asked about what Melody's condition was when they found her earlier. "Temp of 102, febrile with coughing and visible pain," someone said to her; taking the info in, Kate quickly began examining the young girl. "Stay with us, Melody!" Kate said to her as she checked her breathing - rapid but solid breaths - along with heartrate - strong beats but fast. Taking a tongue depressor, Kate opened up Melody's mouth and quickly looked inside, noting the presence of blood in the upper throat region.
After several minutes of examining Melody, Kate stepped back and looked at theother medics inthe room. "Unless anyone has any objections, we're going to put her in isolation for the time being; its' a little too early for the yearly flu bug to come around, but there days I won't put anything up to random chance. Erik," pointing at the New York medic, "go get Tegan and tell her what's going on."
"Kasie, I need you to go down to the basement, get two bags of IV antibiotics - they should be in the blast fridge - and bring them up; we'll start her on them and see what happens," adding after a moment, "yes, I know antibiotics won't do a damn thing for influenza - if its' influenza - but, if its' not, it may knock it down." Looking over at Natasha, she said, "Nats, find out who had direct contact with Melody and put them in isolation; we'll put them in the exam rooms next door and isolate them overnight."
After a few moments, she said, "Go, people; time's a-wasting!"
Julie felt the soft touch of her wife stroking her face and her eyes slowly opened. Her head was pointing up at the darkening sky as it began to ran. The gunshots were gone. Whoever it was shooting was not anymore. Probably some poor soul caught off gaurd by the dead and finally over run by them outside of Bell Isle. Someone who was now beyong their help. The emergency in that regard seemed to be over. Julie knew when she left Lane behind that there was a good chance that he wouldn't fair well. When she left he was working feverishly to repair Busch Gardens rides and attractions. To the point of obsession he didn't see or hear anything else but his work he was focused so intently on. Julie even told him, in person that she was leaving and taking Bailey with her. That he was dangerous and she couldn't trust him around Bailey or herself for that matter. He killed Faith Turner. He beat her to death with his bare hands and admitted it to Julie as causally as if he had ordered a pizza. Julie knew her brother was capable he had killed even before the outbreak, but that time had been in self defense. This seemed cold. Cruel. Merciless and deranged. Julie was an EMT. She could identify the signs of a man who was mentally unstable and a danger to themselves or others. She knew that Lane's death was a possibility hell she even kinda expected it. But to learn for sure that it was his fate after all was more than she could have bared in that moment and she fainted. Julie sat up slowly. Her head still spinning a bit as she looked for Tegan to Bailey and then back to Tegan.
Julie: i..... i'm ok. Bailey, are you ok?
Besides Julie Charly was the only other person she had opened up to before they found Tegan and the group. Bailey and Charly were friends and it hurt. It hurt like a son of a bitch and it probably always would, but she was ok. Just one more example of life punching you in the fucking throat. Bailey nodded slowly, now more worried about Julie than anything. Bailey handed Tyler over to Tegan. Bailey hadn't heard about Melody being in quarentine. Her only friend here in the group. Sure there were other teens her age but they were appearenntly staying here in Bell Isle with Ellena. Julie stood up slowly with the help of Tegan and Thomas and spoke softly as she looked at the ground. She didn't have the heart to look anyone in the eye right now.
Julie: Thank i need'ta lie down for a bit. Get some rest for the trip. We'll leave at first lght. I'm still driving first lick. *Julie knew that worried questions were sure to follow so she reassured them* I'm fine i swear, just need'a minute to process.
Before Tegan or Bailey could protest Julie walked off to her quarters to lay down and be alone. She wasn't crying. Not because she was tryin to put on a brave face, but because she felt numb. She felt as if she were trapt in fog and it wouldn't fade away. She walked in the room and closed the door with her hand that didn't have the broken wrist tapped up in bandages. She sat on the bed and just stared at the floor for a moment. After a moment Julie pulled her feet up into the bed and rolled over. Sleep came surprisingly easier for her. Burying two brothers is so exhausting you know.
Julie has left the thread (will post again when the group gets on the road) Melody has left the thread ( transfered to medical quarentine ) Thread closed ( next thread takes place at first light where they decide how to transport the sick and get ready to leave.... after the thread "isolation" is complete which will run until the end of the day ..... in story )
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
