Thinking fast - and remembering that Heather wasn't in the best of shape to begin with - Bam walked back and whistled to another Scavenger who'd walked over. "Hey, take Heather over to where all the Scouts are and let her stay there overnight; they'll protect her from any threats," pausing to turn towards Heather. "Heather, this man's gonna escort you around the Hive; we're going to find a place for you to stay overnight, okay? I was going to ask you a bunch of question, but they can wait until morning...now go with him and I'll see you in the morning, alright?" pointing to the man as they stood.
That done, he turned his attention to Bailey, who was standing outside in the hallway and - by all appearances - shaking like a fig lef in a windstorm. "Hey, you alright, Bailey?" Bam asked, leaning up against the wall but giving her a lot of space. After a moment, he added, "Is there anywhere you want to talk, Bailey? Any place you want to vent...without using a scalpel to do so?" It sounded dumb and corny as hell but he also figured if he could her talking, it might help ease Bailey's fears, calm her down...hell, no one ever died talking to someone, right?
Bailey was sitting there with her cigerette in her hand... She looked up when Bam spoke to her about wanting to talk... She didn't want to talk... Especially not to Bam.... She looked up to Bam... What was she going to say to him... I was almost raped and i just freaked out because i thought it was happening again? Talking to Bam wouldn't do a dam thing! He didn't know what she was going through... He couldn't understand how she felt. He was an ok guy, but he couldn't possibly help her right now.... Bailey had to mentally tell herself to stop shaking and stand up... She dusted of her jeans just to give her shaking hands something to do and stood up and looked at Bam...
Bailey: No, i'm good.... i want to go now... i'll be fine just LEAVE ME ALONE OK!
Bailey began to walk away down the hallway... Walk away from the bullshit and the complications... She wish she could go back to 15 minutes ago, when she wasn't a freaked out mess.. she just walked hoping that Bam had got the hint and left her be and didn't decide to follow her... She liked Bam.... She didn't want to have to kick his ass! She was walking looked down at the ground... Her hair hanging in her face but she didn't care.. She looked up for a moment to see the men taking Heather around the corner... She remembered Bam saying they were taking her to the scouts to stay there overnight... Bailey followed them. She didn't know why she was following them... Didn't know why this girl was suddenly so important to her... By all accounts she was a complete stranger to Bailey but she HAD TO check on her.. HAD TO make sure she was ok... In some weird way, by making sure she was ok it was telling Bailey that she herself was going to be ok, if that made any sense.... It did to Bailey as she crept up to the corner... Why am i always sneaking around this place? She thought as she peaked around the corner to see the door close... The man who brought Heather into the room stepped out and Bailey saw her chance... She ran up to the door and quickly and quietly stepped inside and closed the door behind her..... Bailey turned to see Heather there....
Bailey: Hi..... I'm Bailey.
Bailey Barnes has left the thread.... (ooc: no offense to bam i think heather would be more helpful to the troubled young girl)
Cruising down the roads of New York with a fresh tank of gas from siphoning, a red and white blur zoomed past the streets littered with walking corpses. One or two was no problem, as the driver of a beautiful red Ducati motorcycle expertly swerved to and fro to avoid the traffic and grabs...but then, things got difficult, the driver let out a soft gasp of shock as she ran into a crowded section of road filled with zombies. Luckily, her speed alone managed to dive right through the ranks, across it actually, and took a couple of them with her, but the act did its damage.
As soon as she was clear, her bike started to swerve and lose control, earning a loud yell of shock from the woman before she ran directly into a fire truck hard enough to cause the motorcycle to bent at the front and she went flying off of the side. She managed to muster enough strength to crawl away a bit before hearing a loud boom...the sound of her bike exploding. Not having it in her, she collapsed right then and there on the gravel...
End of Flashback...
The blonde woman slowly came to in what felt like a soft medical bed, and slowly looked around with several winces as she sat up...it was like she was in a medical room, somewhere and somehow, but why? Wasn't she dead? Was this heaven? She didn't know..she wanted answers..

After walking away from where Bailey and Heather were at - he didn't blame Bailey for not wanting to talk to him right then - Bam walked around Medical for a bit, checking on things and generally making sure everything was in order (he knew from radio traffic that, on the other end of the island, the first military troops to visit the Hive since the Great Panic were beginning to go through medical checks of their own)....just as he was about to take off for the evening, he saw - or to be more precise, heard - a small commotion towards one end of the Medical Center's infirmary.
Walking over, he caught sight of Roner and pulled him aside. "What's going on, Erik?" he asked.
"They brought someone over from Yankee Stadium; motorcycle crash," he replied as they walked over to where the newcomer was, lying on a hospital bed, looking as though she'd been put through a ringer of sorts. "Some of Marcus's people brought her over here since they don't have full medical capabilities at the House that Ruth Built yet," referring to the Hive's Agriculture Overseer, Marcus Robertson, who was in charge of Yankee Stadium.
"Was she bit or anything....?"
"Nope, no bites; just shaken up more than anything...we thought she might have broken ribs, so we've been real gingerly towards her...you want to talk to her, Bam?" Roner asked.
"If she's conscious," Bam joked, not really expecting someone to laugh at his humor right then; grabbing a chair, he sat down near the newcomer and asked. "Hey, I hear they brought you in today...what's your name?"

Elza had apparently awoken in some sort of medical ward, she was stripped, as she could tell by the hospital gown around her body, and sat up a bit when she heard the door open. A brunette man came in after a brief bit about whether she was conscious or not; that was clearly obvious, if she's able to hear that...then again, he wouldn't know she was until she saw him get right next to her in a chair. She rubbed her head a bit, like she had a major headache but nothing else she could feel at the moment, and looked at the man with a pair of bright blue eyes, having her blonde hair down for the first time in a while, it felt nice. She watched him for a bit before smiling and lifting an arm to rub her head a bit, the act accidentally lifting her gown shirt a bit to expose quite a bit of her midriff, but that stopped once she lowered her hand again, "Brought me in? So I was saved...my name's Elza. Hurts a bit when I think of what happened...I was just driving down the roads, avoiding some croakers here and there, then BAM! I lost control after I cut through a horde..I don't remember much after that.", she answered before looking back at him, wondering who he was...and who it was that rescued her.

"Yeah, that's what they tell me," Bam replied, smiling as Elza talked about what had happened to her and that she didn't remember anything else after losing control out there. "I'll talk to Marcus's people about the specifics - they're the ones who brought you here from Yankee Stadium, Elza - but the important thing is that you're alive; that's what counts." Before he could continue, one of the medics told them that Elza needed to get some rest; blowing out a long breath, Bam smiled. "I'd continue, but the medics would likely drag me outta' here as I was getting started," getting up from his seat. "Listen," he added, "my name's Bam, I'm one of the bosses here at Rikers Island...I'll talk to you tomorrow, but for now, get some rest, Elza, alright?"

Elza watched and listened to Bam as he explained that some other group had saved her, and then transported her to where she was now. She sat up again as she saw Bam start to walk out of her medical room, and called out to him to stop him before he did fully leave, "Excuse me..but do you know where my fire suit is? Or my gun? And, uh..can I have some water first?", she asked softly, her voice somewhat quiet due to her injuries which she lightly winced from.

"Uhh," Bam sighed, scratching his head in thought, "I can check and see if they have it, Elza...your gun? One of the guards is holding onto it for you until Medical clears you; until then, they'll hold onto it..." walking back inside and getting Elza a small glass of water for her to drink. As he handed it to her to her to drink, he said, "Like I said, get some rest, okay? We can talk some more in the morning, okay?"

Elza nodded softly as she gently took the glass of water...she had her bag nearby, luckily it was undamaged and it had some of her stuff in it, like a new pair of clothes for her to wear when not adventuring, and leaned back in the bed with a soft sigh, trying to ease her body into relaxing...the thin nature of the medical scrubs she was wearing causing her to feel rather exposed, she was used to wearing her red, white, black with gold accents firesuit as she rubbed her head a bit, and rested her eyes, dozing off for some time...

Meanwhile, near North Pier....Watching as the first of her troops went through the Medical cordon set up near the pier, General McArthur thought about the past few hours and felt pretty confident that their two groups - the Hive and West Point - would become allies; even if that didn't happen, she felt pretty confident there would be no hostilities between their groups. Looking over towards Major McKenna, who'd returned minutes before, she asked, "Everything alright, Major?"
"Yes, ma'am," McKenna replied. "Permission to speak freely, ma'am?"
McArthur turned, arms crossed. "Go ahead, Major."
"Well," McKenna said, "for what it is worth, General, I think things are going to work out here, the one incident notwithstanding. These people here seem to run a pretty tight ship...maybe not as tight a ship as the military, but there's definitely some military-grade steel running things here. The Combat Overseer's a veteran and there's definitely some former military working here as well...so yes, I think things will work out here. Call it," adding with a sly grin, "call it an infantry solider's intuition, ma'am," subtly taking a dig at General McArthur, who was a military engineer by trade and not a mud foot like McKenna.
Even nowadays, the old and ancient rivalry lives, McArthur smiled; ever since the first military forces had walked the earth, there had always been a unspoken rivalry between the infantry and the engineers. To the infantry, engineers were good to have, could even fight in a pinch but they weren't mud feet....to the engineer, an infantryman was good at breaking things, killing people and getting hard, ugly things done, but not at building stuff back up after tearing things down. "Duly noted, Major," McArthur said, "duly noted indeed."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
