Standing outside Medical, Tegan thought about everything that'd happened thus far and couldn't help but imagine a more bizarre setting on this earth, but before she could continue with her line of thought, she heard someone speak to her from nearby.... (Maj. McKenna) Looking around, she saw the Combat Overseer nearby and walked over to her. "Ma'am," McKenna said, "Is there anyplace serving chow at this time of day?"
Turning in the direction of the voice, Tegan saw a woman, about her age, wearing an Army ACU uniform with the oak leaf of a major on the center of the blouse. "Yeah, there's a chow hall just across the street there," Tegan said, her voice trailing off once she saw the name on the uniform... MCKENNA. "Major McKenna, as soon as your commander and the rest of your people clear Medical, we'll all go across and grab something to eat--"
Just then Tegan's radio crackled with static; keying the mic, she spoke into it, asking what the situation was....once she found out what was going on, she shook her head in small disbelief. This day just keeps getting better and better, she thought as she told the guards to pick up their visitor and bring her down to Medical as well. "The chains of command, Major," Tegan continued after a few moments; remembering the woman's last name. "McKenna, right?" pointing towards the chow hall. "I've got some news I need to pass along to you, Major; three years old news, but news still...."

Stepping outside of Medical with his own clean bill of health, William walked over to where Lena was sitting and sat down beside her, sighing in relief as he did so. "Well, that's out of the way," he quipped as they sat there; running his hand through his hair, he thought about possibly getting a haircut at some point but he also knew he had a boat to run. "Tell you what, Lena; as soon as General McArthur clears Medical, we'll head back to the boat for the time being....that sound like a winner?"

Well, that went better than I thought, Tegan mused as her and Major McKenna sat inside the Hive's mess hall, coffees' in front of them....McKenna's hadn't been touched, though; after giving her the bad news about her friend and beloved Lieutenant Tilghman, McKenna hadn't said a word, simply resting her head in her hands and quietly sobbing....all Tegan could do for the time being was simply try and comfort her, giving her space. "If its' any consolation, Major, your friend died at her post...she didn't run, she didn't try to make her way out of the City....she stayed at her post the whole time," Tegan said quietly....after a moment, Tegan added, taking a sip of coffee, "Major, tell me a little bit about her, Lieutenant Tilghman; I think it might help settle your nerves a bit..."

"Major, tell me a little bit about her, Lieutenant Tilghman; I think it might help settle your nerves a bit..."
After a long silence, Major McKenna picked up her coffee and drank from it, the slightly cooling liquid still hot enough to snap her out of her funk; setting the cup down in front of her, she took out a picture of Brooke from an inside blouse pocket and set it down on the table. "That was taken the last time we were on vacation together," McKenna began, "along the Promenade in Montreal back towards the end of 2012," pausing to remove her ACU cap, revealing a short-cup mousy hairdo underneath. "We first met back at UC-Davis and things just seemed to click over time...we were complete opposites, though: she was from San Francisco and just had this energy you could see around her. Me, I was up in the northern Sierras; my idea of a good time: a long, long hike in the mountains," smiling.
"Since we were both in ROTC at the time, we both knew we were going to have to do a five-year bit each; she volunteered for the Infantry Branch, which didn't surprise me given the toughish exterior she projected out....me, I wanted to go into Information & Cyber Warfare, but the Powers that Be had other ideas, so we both ended up getting sent off to Ft. Benning for infantry training...best decision the Army ever made," McKenna said, laughing a moment and leaning back in her seat...
"Once we got through that - and that was hell, being so close to her and not being able to do anything about it - we got our assignments; I got sent off to garrison duty watching over future officers, she got a National Guard assignment down in the Big Apple....but it worked out; every moment I could cadge, I'd drive down and we'd spend as much time together as we could, enjoy every moment, every second together....God, I loved that woman so damn much," McKenna said, pausing as a sob escaped her; as Tegan placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, McKenna nodded and smiled. "Thanks; I've been wondering what happened to Brooke all these years now; I just wish I could've been by her side."
Pausing to take another sip of coffee, McKenna continued, changing topics so as to not bring up anymore memories of Brooke. "You know, for what its' worth, I hope there's an alliance between our two groups, West Point and Rikers; given the way things are, I think...I think it'd be a good thing....but I'll leave that decision for General McArthur." Leaning forward, McKenna rested her head in her hands once more. "I hate to ask, but are there visiting quarters here? I am beat," chuckling at her own words.
Heather awoke to someone looming over her, their hand pressing against her cheek. Her eyes were blurry and she blinked and began to struggle...Struggle to get away from the person touching her. She didn’t know where she was...what was going on..and she was terrified. She felt something stinging her cheek and slapped at the person that was hurting her, weakly kicking and pushing away until she fell completely off the table....Well, save for the arm that had been handcuffed to the exam table.
She could finally see, and her cheek hurt (from hitting the pavement). Her free hand went to touch it and could feel the soft ridges of stitches in her skin. It was a lot for the timid woman to take in and as her memories returned she slumped down into the floor. Her arm stretched above her from its anchor. The Dr was trying to calm her but she was inconsolable. She kept tugging at her wrist until it hurt, shooting the Dr terrified looks if he tried to come near her. He sighed, seeming frustrated and tired...he didn’t need this shit today.
He reached for his radio “...Can I get someone down here to help me restrain this girl?....She’s terrified....”
Hua knew that word well....restrain she looked up at him from her seat on the floor, pulling her wrist again until the cold metal bit into her skin. “D-don’t touch me!” She finally said in english, it was obviously not her native tongue. Her long obsidian hair fell around her back and shoulders in long inky tendrils, her already tiny frame curling into itself under the Dr’s concerned gaze. She needed to go...her friends were dead...where was she going to go?....

As they brought the stranger into Medical, Brandon kept both a sharp eye out for them and for the stranger, watching as they tried to get a handle on the girl; after some tries - and a few cries from her! - Brandon ran over and joined in, kneeling down next to her. "Ma'am, calm down," he started saying to her, "calm down, you're alright; they found you outside and brought you in here to check on you, see how're you doing? Just calm down, ma'am," looking over at the medic and using hand signals to let them know to have a tranquilizer ready if need be. "Ma'am, you're safe for the time being; let them check on you, see that you're alright...."

"That should be everything, General; clean bill of health, welcome to Rikers Island," said the medic as General McArthur got dressed and stepped outside the exam room; looking around, she saw Captain Torrance and one of his crew sitting and waiting for her, it appeared. "Captain," she said, walking over to them, "as soon as you get back to the boat, inform the Sergeant of the Guard to begin releasing troops onto the Island, subject to a medical exam; they should have a Medical station set up there." Offering them both a handshake, McArthur added, "Good job on the piloting skills getting us down here, William."
She was afraid. The Dr examining her had stopped his pursuit as another man entered the room....this one knelt next to her. She looked between him and the Dr, his words reaching her ears even though her eyes were frantically searching the room for a way out....A way to get this handcuff off her wrist... There was nothing she could do......slowly she turned to the new man that had entered, her eyes not meeting his face. It was how she had been raised, habitual at this point. Her dark eyes blinked as she listened....so....she just had to be examined....that was all...Maybe they were checking for bites?....She wasn’t sure.....Her small had snaked back up to her cheek, it felt damp..... And pulling her hand away she could see the smudging of bright red blood on her fingertips.
She didn’t know these people....didn’t understand much of what was going on....But if all she had to do to leave was let them examine her then she would do it....But where she would go after that was a mystery. Her dark eyes risk a split second glance at the kind mans face before darting back to the floor. Hesitantly she stood. She was shaking, a mixture of fear and adrenaline. But slowly she sat down on the exam table. Her free hand rubbing her slender wrist where the metal had pressed into her skin.
She stiffened when the Dr neared her again, he swept her dark hair away from her cheek and sighed at the stitching she had interrupted. He set to work fixing the wound and it didn’t take his skilled fingers long with his now more cooperative patient. Hua had her eyes closed, a slight tremble every so often revealing that she was still very much present and aware of what was going on. He places a bandage over her cheek to keep infection from reaching the wound. Careful hands moving to slide down her arms, turning them as he searched the pale skin for bites.
She didn’t like it...didn’t like this man touching her....it was hard not to reach again....But she remembered what the calm man had said...it was just an exam...But when his large hands reached her legs her eyes snapped open. The leg he had been touching recoiling. She pulled her legs up against her chest. Her wide dark eyes watching the Dr who seemed annoyed with the entire situation. “I’m not bit..” She said eventually, her words halting. She trembled and followed the Dr’s gaze to the man who had spoken to her. Again she didn’t look him in the eye....but her own dark orbs were pleading for the exam to be over.
“I haven’t checked her legs yet...” The Dr sighed, looking at the small woman with tired eyes. “....she seems to just be exhausted though....” He waited, while he was a Dr he didn’t hold any real rank..

Listening to the young woman, two things became rapidly apparent for Bam: (1) she was alright; no bite marks or other injuries of note and (2) she was definitely frightened as heck. "Doc," he whispered, "go ahead and take the restraints off; she's going to be just fine." As the medics followed his orders, he looked over at her. "Sorry for those; when they brought you in, they said your were fighting them or something like them; my apologies...so anyway, I'm Brandon, though everyone calls me Bam. What's your name, ma'am, if I may ask?"

"I don't blame you there," Tegan said, "some decisions are best left to the policy makers...I just hope they know what they're doing, Major," causing McKenna to chuckle. "What?" Tegan asked.
"Spoken like someone who once served," McKenna replied. "And you can call me Anne...and thank you for letting me get all this out..."
"No problem...Anne," Tegan said, having to pause and user her name instead of rank; motioning to one of her fellow Scouts, she said, "As soon as you've had a chance to check in with your boss, he'll," pointing over at the Scout, "get you fixed up; there's guest quarters over near the Headquarters building...are your troops going to need..."
"No, we brought DRASH shelters with us from West Point; as soon as they clear your medical staff, they'll set them up," Major McKenna said, getting up from the table. Before she left, she added, "Thanks...what's your name again?"
"Tamara," Tegan replied, "but everyone calls me Tegan..and to answer your earlier thought, Anne; yes, I did serve in the Army: helicopter pilot, 7-17 Cav, 101st Airborne, 1998-2002. Had I stayed I probably would've gone into Iraq...how sad," she added laconically. "Well, I did get there, but as a private contractor; remind me to tell you sometime. You take care, Anne."
At the man’s words her wrist was freed and Hua pulled it against her chest, rubbing it with her other hand. Already feeling bruises developing under the skin because of her thrashing. The medic left her be now that his job was done, she could see the other man lingering and then he spoke. Their actions in handcuffing her weren’t extreme...she had pulled a knife on them...there were far worse things that could have happened to her other than just being handcuffed......things that had happened to her friends...
Bam...an odd name...Hua remained quiet a moment after he finished speaking. Eventually finding her voice. She nearly said her name was Hua....but this wasn’t her old home.....no...she was still here where she was known as Heather... She paused, turning her wrist over to look at the skin that was beginning to turn purple. “....Heather...” She said at last....unsure why their names were even important if she was going to be leaving in the next few minutes. She looked over at the man called Bam, cautiously sliding off the examination table as if she expected to be scolded. She felt the pockets of her jeans....and her knife was gone....It was literally all she had left to defend herself with...and it was gone.
“My knife...” She said softly, her dark eyes moving to Bam again. “...I can leave?” She would just have to find another....she lifted her hand to let her fingers move across the bandage on her face. She looked down at her torso, straightening her shirt where it had ridden up, her dark eyes nervously darting to Bam every so often. “....why are you nice to me?....Why did he examine me?....where am I...?” She was full of questions. And suddenly they were all bursting from her soft lips, her words a bit stilted and broken...but there.
Julie walked back towards headquarters... She knew how long the medicle exams would take. When they got here Beckett got an exam then Bailey and finally her.. The whole thing took about fifteen minutes for all three of them to get through the entire process. It was about time to start heading back. She carefully folded the not back and slid it back into the envelope taking the time to reseal it. Her tounge was dry but she had enough to get the thing at least looking partly like it had never been open.. Maybe some water from the boatrip dampened it causing it to slightly open like that. Seemed believable enough to her that no one would think twice about it in it's present condition. Julie had been the first to read the note, and now she had to put it back. She walked along looking for someone until she saw one of her wife's scouts....
Julie: Hey you. You seen Tegan anywhere?
Scout: Uh.... I believe she went down to the mess hall with that woman.... i'm sorry i'm not really sure Julie... There's a lot going on..
Julie: Yeah, ok thanks i'll have'ta track'er down then i suppose
Julie started off towards her only lead; the mess hall. She allowed her mind to drift a bit as she walked. What could these people really want? She had read the letter she didn't know what to believe honestly. All she knew was they wre making a big to do about this and the letter seemed pretty dam presidential... Those were fancy ass words thrown down on the page, but what did it really mean? It was all a bunch of political talk for the most part.. A big part that leap off the page at her was uniting the republic... She sighed. All she knew was she held in her pocket something of great importance and she felt kinda crumy about having stole from Tegan, but in the end she didn't know very much more than what they had already said.... Andrew Minchner... She tried to remember if the name ment anything to her.... It's been three years since she thought about politics... And what the muckety mucks up in washington did all day... But the President? She was looking down quietly making her way towards the mess hall when she saw Beckett again... He was peeking at her all creepy like from around the corner like he had been watching her. He had one eye over the edge of the corner and the rest of his face had been hidden behind the wall....
Julie: That fuckin guy give me the creeps....* She said to herself* Hey! You got a problem asshole?
As if her words were magic bullets he slunk back around the corner disappearing slowly... It was fuckin weird. He seemed to never blink.. Big bloodshot eyes always watching you.... She felt a shiver run down her spine as she pushed open the door to the mess hall nad tried to forget about Mr. Creeper.... She pushed the door open and saw Tegan sitting there talking to a woman who was standing, ready to leave appearently.
Julie: *Sneaks up on Tegan* Found ya skygirl!
----------- Beckett --------------
Beckett was slinking around the corner when he was spotted. Oh she saw me! He thought.. He crept back from view and leaned against the wall breathing heavily... He was clutching in his hand his very large knife... He looked over to his right... Mr. Dark was standing there with his arms folded across his chest.. He was giving Beckett a look that said... "if you don't show me you still have the sack to kill then you're on your own... I'm gone and you will be alone in this world forever...." Beckett heard the door she was walking towards open... And heard her speak before the doors had swung back closed. She's with someone she thought.. Maybe that other girl... Mr.Dark wanted them both dead... He wanted them dead because they had escaped his murderous ways earlier and it was time he caught them! He just had to wait til they came back out into the hall. He didn't know how many people were in the room she just went in... But there was definalty someone..
Beckett: Just you wait you fucking bitch. I'll cut you open and spill your nasty bitch guts all over the fuckin floor...
Beckett's expression had changed. It was no longer scared or nervous... It was that of a cold blooded serial killer.. Unblinking, unrelenting focus... His wide bloodshot eyes cast over his shiney blade... Soon he thought... Very soon that blond bitch will be dead.. Then i can hunt down her little girlfriend. It's what Mr. Dark wants....
------------- Julie ----------------
Julie snuck up on Tegan and laughing she wrapped her arms around her and kissed her on the cheek.. Taking the time to slip The President's note back into her pocket with no one being the wiser... She hugged her wife, who she had actually missed in the very short time they were apart and sat down... Taking Tegan's hand into hers and lacing her fingers through Tegan's she smiled at the new girl... She stuck her hand out to shake.

Listening to her fire off question after question, Bam felt sorry for her and tried to think of what to say to her. Motioning for someone to go get them some water, he started. "Nice to meet you, Heather," Bam said. "We'll get you back your knife," snapping his fingers to get someone's attention, "here in a little bit. You're at Rikers Island, ma'am...yeah, that's right; the former jail's now the one beacon of civilization left in the Big Apple...
"The guards came across you over on the western side of the Island; from what they said, you'd either washed up onto the shore or you got there by boat; how specifically, I'm not going to worry about it right now. As busy as we've been today, that's a question I can ask later on. All I can tell you, Heather, is that you're safe and you're going to be alright." It sounded stupid as hell, but what else could he say?

Tegan had just gotten up to wish Major McKenna a good day when she felt someone's familiar arms sneak around her waist; looking back, Tegan smiled and leaned back, lightly kissing Julie on the lips as they stood there.... Found ya skygirl!
"That you did," Tegan replied, turning around and looping an arm around Julie's waist..."that you did," her hand intertwined with Julie's. After a few moments, she turned towards Major McKenna as Julie introduced herself.... Hi! I'm Julie...
Watching the introductions, Tegan started to get that hairs-on-the-back-of-her-neck feeling and started looking around, wondering what was causing it...after a moment or two, she turned back towards both Julie and Major McKenna, her head ready to turn on a swivel again if necessary...
Literally none of her questions were answered and Hua was left clueless....Someone just saying you were safe didn’t automatically instill those feelings in you. He continued to rub her wrist, feeling like she was going to jump out of her skin. At the same time she was exhausted.....starving.....and mourning her dead companions. She looked over at Bam, her eyes meeting his own and lingering there at last. “I want to leave..” She said carefully. She wasn’t sure how she was going to leave....getting here was a blur. She remembered the small boat she had been hiding in....pushing it off the shore when the raiders left her decimated camp.
She left it when she hit shore again...unwittingly on this island which was apparently a prison... Her small boat would be gone undoubtedly...and she was stranded...But they must have a way off the island...maybe they would take her....This man didn’t seem cruel....distracted, busy....But not cruel. She wrapped her arms around herself in a tight hug, rubbing he toe of her shoe against the floor. “....please..” She said softly. She let herself slump against the table as her adrenaline high left her body, feeling like an empty husk.
Her parents had abandoned her years ago when she didn’t live up to their expectations...she had survived...though her methods had not been savory. And now she was completely alone again....it was a startling feeling to know that no one would be affected if you just disappeared
A slight flush rose to her cheeks....Hua felt rough....but she didn’t know these people....couldn’t stay here...she needed to get back across the water before she started feeling even worse.

Hearing her once again request that she be allowed to leave, Bam sighed; the Hive's official policy was that anyone wishing to leave could do so, without hesitation or reservation... "I'll see what I can do, Heather; you just hang tight, okay?" he said, getting up; after telling the medics to keep an eye on her, Bam walked out of the room and headed outside, needing to get some fresh air.
Running a hand through his short-cut hair, he decided to grab a bite to eat and headed over to the mess hall, hoping they didn't have Gainesburgers on the menu this evening but also hoping they had some good, strong coffee if they did.

As she got up to leave the table, Major McKenna was startled to see a rather youngish blonde sneak up behind Tegan and hug her real close, kissing her - and getting kissed in turned. Lucky, she thought, as one of them introduced herself... Hi! I'm Julie...
"Pleased to meet you, Julie; I'm Anne," Major McKenna replied, adding, "If I must say, you're a lucky woman, Tegan," nodding at both of them and smiling, though inside she was still grieving over hearing of Brooke's death from three years ago. Noticing Tegan's expression change, McKenna began looking around as well..."Is something wrong?" she asked.
Julie was still holding Tegan around her waiste, her chin resting lightly on her shoulder. Mckenna seemed sweet.. Julie had no idea this was the same Ann that Tegan had told her about in her story. The one with the lover who died, and Tegan went back to put the picture in her hand... Julie was even considering naming her unborn baby after this woman if it had been a girl... The story had touched her so much, but she was having a boy. Julie didn't think Ann would be a fitting boy's name... Julie didn't mention to Tegan that Beckett was outside seemingly stalking her... She just figured that he was checking on the situation... He had seemed worried about the possibilty of danger earlier... She still couldn't help but be a little creeped out by him... But still she didn't care. She was with her Tegan now and she was wondering if she could steal her away.... She knew she still had to meet with the muckety mucks from the military base but she didn't care... 5 minutes.... 5 minutes was all she was asking of Tegan before she let her get back to her duties... And 5 minutes wouldn't kill her would it?
Julie: Is it possible if i steal you for a moment sugar? When you're all done here... Before you go do the meet'n greet, i just want'cha for 5 minutes to my lonsome and i'll let you go be miss ambassador to the brave new world alright?
As if to almost bribe her a little she gave her a light nibble on her ear.... Allowing her hot breath to exhale on her lobe and whispered to her...
Julie: 5 minutes is all i'll need sugar to make you, nice in relaxed goin into your big meeting....
Julie didn't notice the worried look on Ann's face, though she did notice the goosepimples arriving on Tegan's flesh but she thought she had caused them with what she said... Her hormones were making her super honry, though she didn't know why.... She had to have Tegan right then and right there... Though a unoccupied room just down the hall would surfice... She grabbed Tegan by the hand and started to lead her out the door...
Julie: It was nice to have met you! i just need'ta borrow my wife for a moment....
Julie pulled Tegan along not knowing what she was walking right into....
--------- Beckett ----------------
Beckett heard the door pop open.... Heard the girl spill out into the hall.. He was creeping down the hallway in the shadows where the light didn't reach.. He was used to being invisible... His life as a homeless man had taught him that. Most people only see what they want to see.. If you were an eyesore to them they blocked you out completely! Beckett had his back on the wall and his knife low behind him as he silently crept unoticed... He was just around the corner now... He could hear a woman voice... He held the blade up almost as if to inspect it.. There was dried blood on it... He smiled... He crept around the corner to where Julie and Tegan stood. He could see Julie from here but not Tegan who was still around the next corner... Julie noticed him creeping out of the corner of her eye and screamed... That's when he lept up with the blade and slashed at her slender throat... Blood flew into the air! It wasn't fatal, but it was enough to stun.. He hadn't seen Tegan yet.. His mind wasn't thinking rationally he only saw Julie and pounced.. Julie fell back and grabbed her throat... A superficial cut... The next cut wouldn't be so superficial... Beckett brought the blade to his tounge and licked Julie's sweet blood... He raised the knife above his head and was ready to plung it into whatever soft flesh it happened to find first !

As Tegan stood there, Julie's arms enveloping her, she kept wondering why she was feeling like something wasn't quite right, that something was amiss....that someone was out there, stalking them. "Yeah, I'm doing alright, Anne," Tegan said as Julie stole her away for a few moments. Is it possible if i steal you for a moment sugar? When you're all done here... Before you go do the meet'n greet, i just want'cha for 5 minutes to my lonsome and i'll let you go be miss ambassador to the brave new world alright? As if to almost bribe her a little she gave her a light nibble on her ear.... Allowing her hot breath to exhale on her lobe and whispered to her... 5 minutes is all i'll need sugar to make you, nice in relaxed goin into your big meeting....
Feeling Julie's breath on her ear, it was all Tegan could do to keep her own feelings in check; instead, a few short kisses later, she signaled McKenna that she'd talk to her later, see if there was anything they needed....devoting her attention back to Julie, Tegan looped her arms around Julie's neck and kissed her on the cheek, whispering sultrily, "Let's you and I find someplace alone, Peach," heading outside into one of the hallways surrounding the mess hall.
They'd just gotten a little ways down when, out of the corner of her eye, Tegan saw a flash of metal, a glint of steel in the hallway light....before she could do anything, she heard Julie gasp as the knife slashed her across the neck, Julie's hands flying up to try and stanch the flow of blood coming from it. "No!" Tegan yelled, dropping to the ground with her; she tried to see where the knife-wielder had come from; as she knelt by her wife's side, she started yelling, "Medic! Medic!" as loud as her voice could carry...

"Medic! Medic!"
The words sent a chill through Major McKenna; to hear those words at that pitch and tone meant someone was hurt and hurt bad; rushing back inside, she fought her way through the small crowd...and blanched at the sight of Tegan, cradling her wife in her arms, holding a wound-pack at her wife's neck. Rushing over to them, she asked "What happened?"
"Somebody slashed her," Tegan replied; taking off her ACU blouse, McKenna rolled it up and set it underneath Julie's head so that she could rest her head on it....turning, McKenna yelled out, "Secure this building!" pointing towards the exits nearby. Looking back at Tegan, she added, "Sorry there; listen, you go find the sonuvabitch that did this; he gets near her again," nodding towards Julie, "I'll drop the motherfucker where he stands," undoing the clasp on her holster so that, if the need arose, she could pull her Beretta out in an instant. "Now, go, go!" she said.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
