After Brian and Castle had spent a few minutes popping walkers off the backs of the strangers, they started to pull the Humvees away from the vehicle bays. Brian's trained instinct had him shrink a little closer to the corner and mind the vehicles, for he didn't know if they might open fire on him and his newfound companions.
The surprising part was when one of them stopped and a woman offered to let them in. A split second decision happened in Brian's mind and he looked at Castle with a cautious nod. He kept firing long enough for Castle and his dog to get into the Humvee, then he moved toward it as well. He opened the passenger side door and fired one last shot into the face of close incoming walker, then slammed the heavily armored door behind him as he got into the cramped seat.
He quickly took note that the Humvee was still fitted with it's BFT, although that wouldn't be of much use to them. Still, it was something to be recognized. A little driving and little to no words later, the Humvee stopped along with the others near a civilian vehicle and everybody seemed to get out. Brian followed suit, but didn't want to speak until addressed. He didn't know these people, and he figured letting them speak amongst themselves first could get him some intel on their motives, destinations, and threat level.
There seemed to be a little hostility in the group, particularly between a woman who seemed to have been leading the small group that had acquired the humvees, and a man who had ammunition on the brain and no love for strangers. Fair enough, Brian thought. He probably wouldn't in that man's situation either.
And then they departed for the AHA, and Brian was a little taken aback that Castle and himself had yet to be addressed by these people. He found Castle off to the side, his weapon still in hand while the others were loading ammunition and spoke quietly to him.
"This is weird. I doubt they plan on shootin' and lootin' us at this point, but keep your guard up." He sniffed once and then went about gathering some ammunition as well. He grabbed a crate of 5.56 NATO and set it in the trunk of the humvee. He went about refilling his two spent magazines while the others grabbed the 7.62 and .50 ammo.
