Castle saw how Eli looked towards him was that...admiration no surly not but before he could ask Marko came and so did the daemons and people were planning. Castle was befuddled by how things were moving like a story were people kept on adding to the drama. Castle span on the ball of his boot to face the encroaching dead. "Well Crumpet we wouldn't want that now would we." He placed his sword on his shoulder with a light chuckle. "Don't bother with tactics or walls you can't keep the sea from eroding it all away. strike hard and fast we make it back to the others." Castle turned his gaze to Marko for a second then back to the horde. "After all the only defence we are relying on is a stranger and her skills with a blade at the moment." Castle was rather pissed that marko didn't listen to him when he told him to return to the R.V. after all the few for the many right? Castle gripped the rings that hung from his neck and whispered "ancestors protect."

Clementine grumbled a little when her puppy dog eyes failed to sway Mark. She really didn't want to be left alone with Lilly. Then again, Wyatt was there now too, and it sounded like both Ash and Mark were needed urgently, so she let Mark go without further protest.
After Mark and Ash set off, she glanced back to the injured new girl, Skylar. Ordinarily Clem would likely wander over to introduce herself and see how badly hurt Skylar was. She might even offer to help. Sadly, it was not ordinary circumstances. Lilly of people was over there, and someone had to look after the baby she and Mark had found.
Clementine offered Skylar a soft smile in return. Watching a moment longer, Clem decided Lilly and Wyatt could handle Skylar's injuries by themselves, and the best thing she could do was keep the baby out of their way.
The infant started to fuss again, and Clem wasn't sure she could quiet him down as quickly this time. What if his crying brings more attention from walkers? She had to get him someplace where it would be harder for walkers to hear him. Clementine turned back to Dakota, "We need to get him into one of the rooms."

Dakota quashed a certain dread that Ash wouldn't be coming back to her this time. It was a fear of hers, in the short time she had learned he was still alive. A little voice gnawed at her that death or worse was just toying with her, and he would be gone again. She'd just had to look at Clem to know how real that possibility was.
Shadow staying by her and Clem's side eased her anxieties, at least enough to better hide them. She pet the husky's scruff and around the ears while she watched Ash and Mark go off to help. Smiling worriedly to Shadow, she knelt down to give the big canine a hug. She commented quietly to Shadow and herself,”You're right, boy. They'll be alright.”
Following Clementine's gaze toward Skylar, Dakota smiled back to the older girl too. She stood from Shadow, absently still petting around his ears. Her hazel eyes were turned back to Clem and the baby. ”I don't know. I know it's Lilly and everything, but Wyatt is here. I'm here, so you won't be alone with her. And there's that girl too, and it looks like Lilly is gonna be too busy helping her to bother you. Besides I think Ash and Mark want us to stay here.”

Clementine averted her gaze from Dakota. It felt a bit weird, more often than not it would probably be Koda being the one to suggest something like this. Clem had thought it through though, and was certain it was the best way to keep the baby safe. She had to admit though, ”Lilly is part of it...”
Clem was going to need Koda if it was going to work. She met her best friend's gaze, “We're a team. Ash, Mark and many grown ups you've known and grown ups I've known have taught us both different things to survive. They knew they can't always be immediately around for us. Right now, this baby needs us to be there for him like they are for us. We don't want his crying bringing more walkers down on us while they help that girl.”
She double checked her backpack, and the baby before slowly starting off toward the motel. ”I still don't see Tala, but I thought I saw Marko go the same way Ash and Mark did. That means she's probably over there too, and the rooms should all be safe now. It will be much harder for any walkers to hear him in one of them.”
Post by Dakota Snow on Mar 23, 2015 12:22:29 GMT -5
Dakota's ambivalence melted away, it all sounded reasonable to her. Koda double checked her rifle, crossbow, and made sure to grab the baby's diaper bag. She trotted a litle to catch up alongside Clementine. ”Yeah. I guess if we can keep him safe and everybody safe by making sure the walkers don't hear him, we should. And we'll at least have Shadow to help us too.” She gave a little whistle and patted her hip to hopefully get Shadow to follow along. ”Good boy.”
Before they were too far, Dakota called over her shoulder back to Lilly and Wyatt, ”Since O-man and Tala are probably over there with Ash and Mark, we're going to one of the safe rooms so the baby's crying won't attract even more walkers.” Granted by the time Dakota remembered to tell them where they were going, Lilly, Wyatt and Skylar were probably all too busy to really hear it.
Along the way, Dakota decided to press Clem on how she felt about Lilly. Glancing over to her friend, she took a deep breath, ”From what you told me about Lilly, I don't think I trust her either. Papa Bear seems to trust her though, and if she's staying... guess we have to put up with her at least. Unless you think she's as psycho as the spy family.”

Clementine switched the baby from one shoulder to the other, sighing softly. "Mark and me talked a little about Lilly too. He said, if I didn't feel it was good for her to stay, then he would talk to the others for me. But I don't know. While she has actually cracked and killed someone I never thought she would, and you only thought Mac would, I don't think Lilly would hurt me... or you.”

Dakota glanced warily around, but her eyes drifted mostly to her feet in brief thought. ”There's still a big difference between them then. I know the psycho spies would hurt either one of us. So maybe Lilly deserves a last chance. A chance the psycho spies don't deserve., if you're sure she wouldn't hurt us. If you think she would, then I'm right there with you, and we can tell Mark together.”

Clem shifted the baby again in her arms, he was getting heavy, after holding him so long. She considered a few moments longer before turning dark gaze back to Koda, ”Maybe she does deserve one more chance... but only one. And I don't want to wait until she shoots someone else, so it has to be a small chance.
As they drew close to the first of the rooms, she double checked her handgun, knife and hatchet by freeing one hand long enough to pat each one. She added, ”Mark suggested he would help us both cut our hair short.”

Dakota almost stopped dead, and she snorted after half a moment's silence. She reached down to pet Shadow behind the ears, ”Hear that boy?“ Grinning back to Clem, ”That's what I got my my alligator clip for. He's... not really going to shave use bald?
Post by Clementine on Mar 23, 2015 12:35:43 GMT -5
Clementine snickered, and shook her head half doubtfully, ”I... don't think so?” Then it was time to focus on double checking the room. The curtains were drawn, so neither she nor Dakota would be able to see in.
Clementine frowned in concentration, ”Crossbow might be best... if there's anything in there. I mean it should be safe, but...”
Post by Dakota Snow on Mar 23, 2015 12:40:42 GMT -5
Dakota instinctually gripped her rifle tighter, but Clem was right. Gunshots might ruin the whole purpose for bringing the baby somewhere quieter. She set her rifle down by the door, and unslung Ash's old crossbow from her shoulder. She loaded a bolt into it, ”Yeah, it never hurts to be doubly sure. That little alcove should be good for our stuff and the baby to wait.” An architectural crenelation jagged out from the exterior wall between rooms, providing the best cover they could hope for the infant while they double checked the room. Koda moved her rifle to lean up in the small corner, and set the diaper bag down with it.
Post by Clementine on Mar 23, 2015 12:43:17 GMT -5
Clementine knelt to set the baby down as comfortably she could. Hey little guy. We'll be right back.” She dug through the diaper bag, pulling a pacifier free. Offering the baby a smile, she let him take up the pacifier, and drew her own pistol to back up Dakota. ”I'll be ready... just in case quiet isn't an option.”
Post by Dakota Snow on Mar 23, 2015 12:47:11 GMT -5
Lifting her crossbow, Dakota's heart raced a little, so she waited a couple beats. Nothing to worry about. Just still be careful. Putting a hand to the door, she she found the room unlocked. Had to be safe, if it wasn't locked.
She cringed as the door squeaked no matter how slowly she tried to open it. Thankfully, the door went silent after the first inch and half. It was so dark in the room, it was hard to see anything, but as her young eyes adjusted to the gloom she could make out shadowy shapes. Shadowy... furniture shapes. ...and one large shadowy figure of man stiffly rose from the bed shape.
Dakota gasped and almost froze, but a loud and clear voice sounded in her head. *Girl, if you want to live, shoot the bastard in the head! NOW!* Before she even finished that thought, she found herself aiming the crossbow, and squeezing its trigger. The bolt sailed silently, and sunk right into the shadowy head. The figure laid right back down, never to move again.
Only a second, smaller and more slight shadowy figure rose from the bed shape. The inhuman and slow gait gave it away as a walker. A mockery of the grown woman it probably used to be. Dakota's mind kept its adrenaline fueled crystal clear focus thankfully. There didn't seem to be room or rime enough to reload her crossbow, so she shouldered it in favor of her uncle's old golok knife. Thank Mark for finding it for her again.

Clementine's own young eyes adjusted to the dim shadows after she followed Dakota in. She kept her pistol ready in case there was more trouble than they were planning for. Her heart sank with the rising large shadowy figure. It should have been clear, but if it wasn't.. then Tala... Thankfully Koda's crossbow practice paid off, but the smaller figure that rose shortly after did not leave her time to figure out why the room was not clear. She slid away her pistol and drew her own knife. Gunshots might draw more, and even with the surprise of a second figure, the girls were far from being overwhelmed. As long as they moved and worked as team, Clem was sure they'd both be fine.
Post by Dakota Snow on Mar 23, 2015 12:55:44 GMT -5
Dakota added her own sweeping kick to the figure's other leg along with a full shove to its back. Add in a little extra help from Shadow, and the girls' teamwork tipped the scales away from disaster. The thing fell face first to the dark floor, and Koda overhead swung her uncle's heavy golok knife down into it's rotten skull to make sure it would trouble them no more.
Wrenching her golok free, she wiped it off, and slid t away. She rubbed and pet over Shadow's scruff and head, ”Good boy! Suc ha good boy! You did good, Shadow.”
Then from the bathroom, stirred proof Dakota's celebration was pre-mature. One last shadowy figure ambled belatedly from the bathroom.
Post by Clementine on Mar 23, 2015 12:58:31 GMT -5
Any of the adults of the group would have been horrified to see the last figure had been a girl no older and no bigger than either Clem or Dakota. The girls on the other hand, were greatly relieved, especially Clementine. She hadn't slipped her knife away yet, so she grateful for a monster she could handle. She kept it from setting upon Dakota, and before even Shadow could leap into action, she had swept it knee out from under it. Clem followed up with sinking her knife into its rotten eye socket.
"Let's make sure that was really the last one."

Dakota reloaded her crossbow and took point again with Shadow by her side. Under the bed? Clear. Anything else in the bathroom? Clear. Closet? Clear. By the husky's more relaxed demeanor and now more moving shadowy figures, she unloaded and shouldered her crossbow. ”Shadow doesn't seem too worried now, so I'm not.” Koda slipped outside to get the diaper bag and her rifle.

Clementine eased her knife away after the room finally proved clear, going out with Dakota to get the baby and her own things. She closed the door behind them, after they went back in. Opening the curtains, her things down on the table. ”Who do you think those people were? Before.”
Post by Dakota Snow on Mar 23, 2015 13:03:42 GMT -5
Dakota shrugged setting her things beside Clem's but leaving room for the baby. Taking one of the chairs to sit in. ”Best not to think about it. Besides, if they were a family, we helped them reach someplace way better. Like where our families are.”
Absently petting Shadow, she wrinkled her nose at a smell she was just now noticing, ”Do you smell that? Is that the walkers?”
Post by Clementine on Mar 23, 2015 13:05:21 GMT -5
Clementine set down in a chair beside Koda, and finally let the baby down on the table. ”Yeah. They have to be.” Her heavier thoughts drifted away with her smile to the baby, but maybe they still shown through. The infant let the pacifier fall away, fussing again. Soon he was crying all out, and Clem was glad they had taken him somewhere quieter. She wished there was something she could to make him stop fussing and crying for more than a couple minutes.
Then the smell hit her senses too, her face screwing up, "I don't think that smell is the walkers."
"...ew..."
