Ellie sat back down next to Ernie and grabbed the jar of moonshine from him. She had no idea who hardly any of these people were save for her family and friends from long ago. Hell, she barely knew Daisy and she was already up and off with Damon back inside the house. That's where she needed to go also to start unpacking supplies.
She was going to go with Arden but figured she would just stay here with Ernie. If that asshole stole her brother's drugs then maybe he did deserve whatever was coming to him in the swamp. She heard a splash and she shook her head. "Alligators will get him first, I suspect."
She took a sip from the jar and it felt like she had just downed a sip of rubbing alcohol. "God damn Ernie, I don't know how any of you can stand this crap." She handed the jar back to him and stretched. She considered going upstairs to find her cousin and tell her about running into her cop friend. But she wondered how much damage it would actually do. She lost him on the road and from the sound of it back in the city, the cop was desperate to find her after he killed his friend.
Laying in the sand near the fire pit, she found a stick. She grasped it tightly and drew a big happy face right in front of her brother, Ernie. "That's how I feel now that I found you and Arden. I'm glad ya'll survived. I knew I'd find you here if I waited long enough." Even though the bikers had come and run them off, eventually they were going to get it back. She just wished she could have been here when it happened. For that, there was a few ounces of guilt running through her blood.
"I'm gonna go inside and unpack some stuff." As she stood up, she kissed Ernie on the top of the head and started back for the door. She adored her big brothers no matter how much they fucked up. They were everything to her before and now they were her entire universe. Family was here and this was where their home was.
When she got back into the house, she heard the voices coming from the kitchen as she looked through the bins and boxes. She could barely here them and she could barely see but she knew there was a flashlight somewhere in there. Rummaging a bit more, she found the red emergency kit box and pulled out the mag light in order to start making piles that were food, medicine or 'other'. She didn't pay mind to the voices in the kitchen, male and female, with one of them sounding like Daisy. She just continued her work knowing she would just hit her bed later tonight.
