Emblem a small town deep in Wyoming in the middle of nowhere, has become a safe zone for any survivors of the outbreak, run by one of the original 10 Samuel Hailo it has had it's original population being tripled since the outbreak and counting. It has also has armed guards all around the city to stop the undead from coming into the city.
Samuel limped around with his walking stick in tow, as he began to see what he had accomplished over a couple years he made his way to the farm just before a walker appear at the gate the guard posted at tower A threw a spear which landed straight into the walker's head.
He thanked him and proceed to his farm which eventually became the mayor's house after the sudden death of the previous leader 1 week into the outbreak.
Samuel sat down at the wooden bench outside his porch at what seemed to be a life accomplishment and he relaxed hoping that nothing bad would happen to destroy what this community had made.
Feet tired from walking for what seemed an endless amount of time. Munching on the last leg of whatever she managed to shoot earlier. Savoring the taste of it in her tongue as the raven haired women was reminded of an old statement her family used to say about her growing up. She is so pretty but fluffy. Thinking back on it was a rude ass comment but for some reason the memory gave her something to smile about. Dropping the bone of her food before reluctantly going through a tight patch of bushes.
Eyes squinting from the sudden daylight come through the treeline barely letting Gris see the walls and gate to what she imagine was a safe haven. Holding her tactical shotgun ready to fire if anything shady was shown while meeting these people. First impressions seemed to be more important in the new world them the old. As soon as she was spotted by the guards is when a spear was thrown at her, must of been some sort of warning. "Either your demonstrating your lack of ammunition or that you are giving me another weapon." The Hispanic women remarked in a almost sarcastic tone before introducing herself. "Names Griselda but just call me Gris if you wish. Oh damn I sort of rhymed."
"Samuel there's a woman at the gate with a gun" he heard as Norris ran towards him, he got to the bottom of Samuel's patio "Say's her name is Griselda can't let her in without your approval". Samuel groaned as he grabbed his walking stick and made his way down the patio, patting Norris on the shoulder "Okay Norris, thanks for telling me" Samuel, continued walking down the paved path.
Samuel reached the gate as he asked for them to be opened he stepped through the gap as it was open and greeted the woman "Ah so you must so you must be Miss Griselda please come with me and then we'll, sort out this little predicament you've got yourself into, oh and take these" he said calmly as he passed her a cucumber, lettuce and tomato sandwich as well as a canter of water "We like to treat our guest well in out little society down here in Emblem, please follow me to our temporary housing area".
Griselda was polite for the most part but she couldn't just trust people willy nilly because that's how you needed up dead. Looking at the man's amputated leg a bit taken back by it. Yeah she had seen it on the undead but this was still a living breath man who was offering a sandwich. "It's Señora Herrera to you" Putting an emphasis on a Spanish accent that sounded much like her grandmothers.
Keeping her eyes on the stump longer then what would be polite before taking the sandwhich with a raised brow at him. Following him cautiously whil her eyes looked all around her. "You have no meat? Why this sandwhich have no meat." Giving the impression slowly that English wasn't her first language despite that being a lie. It helped sometimes make people feel sorry or more helpful toward her. "So.. What happened to your leg?" Wanting all the skeletons of curiosity out of the closet.
"Well Señora Herrera, I believe you have to buy me a drink first" he said in a comedic tone towards Griselda "But since you asked I'll tell you, I've never really been in charge of this Settlement until I came here, the man who was originally here died due to a heart attack". He looked down at the wooden leg that was once made of flesh "When the outbreak started I was in Atlanta because I won 1 million dollars after winning the beginner kick-boxing tournament and then I decided that I needed to return here, but 2 weeks before I got here I got caught underneath some rubble while looking for some food, I limped my way here and when I reached the gate I fainted" Sam stopped and just carried to walk on towards the temporary housing area.
"When I got here they had to chop off my leg due to it being infected, not bitten just a bad infection now you know and we can sort this out but now you need to tell me about yourself but I'll wait until we get to where we choose where you'll live".
Starting down at the sandwhich as Samuao explained his leg situation to her. Raising a brow at him for a moment again now unsure if he was trying to flirt or be funny. Gris simply let her roll off her like water off a ducks back. Dissecting the sandwhich while she walked making sure everything looked okay before holding it out toward Samual beside her. "Eat it first, don't know if it was poisoned" saying as if it was a matter of fact. People could be very crafty in the new world and Gris didn't want to be duped. Realizing she hadn't really apologized for what happens to him. "Sorry that happened to you.. But shit happens"
Nose crinkling up not at the view of the temporary housing but the words Samual had said. Ever since what happened in the beginning.. Gris has enjoyed the saying the last was in the past. Looking at him for a long time before eyeing the temporary housing area again. "Why? The past is in the past no?" holding the strap of her backpack tighter hoping they wouldn't ask to look in it. Explaining its contents was too complicated.
Samuel looked at Griselda as she had her hand outstretched asking him to eat the sandwich "Is it just me or do you not trust me" he said as he grabbed the sandwich and took a bite out of it he chuckled "See not poison just a normal sandwich, oh and answering your question from earlier we do have meat but I'm vegetarian more healthy for me" Samuel said to Griselda.
He then had the comment about shit happens he chuckled "Yes I agree but having half of a staircase fall on you and to live to tell the tail, yes it was shit but I consider it was luck surviving something like that" he heard her saying about the past being in the past and then he just looked at her "If you knew what happened to me during the past 2 years it hasn't been easy to bury those memories there are hardly anyone here who was part of the original Emblem just me, Norris, Jacobs and Young are left the rest of these people are new to this community so recently joined and some have been here since the start but I cannot forget the people I knew, loved and hated without thinking about what happened to them. Yes I believe the past should stay in the past but sometimes it shouldn't and now Señora I believe we have to sort this out" he said taking a breath after his long speech there before continuing but then he remember something "Oh yes before we go into the temporary housing I'll need your backpack and to search you if that okay?".
"Ha" Griselda scoffed at the man's vegetarian comment before pointing at her voluptuous form with a smirk. "You don't get this with eating like you do Rodger Rabbit." Surprising jokingly before shit seemed to get real for the older women. Backing a step back as he asked to search her backpack and person. Looking at Samual with intensity before finally taking a step toward one of the houses he had led her to. "Try to sexually assault me and I will break you dick off.."
Walking inside before Samual could reply. Dropping her backpack beside the door for the man to pick up if he wanted to. Cracking her neck and fingers looking around the place, from what she could see it was clean and not like most of the houses she slept in on her journey from Texas. A frown on her face while fixing a nearby picture so it was straight. Inspecting a few other nearby decorations that would never have entered her own house. The thought made Gris wonder what had become of her dear home. Probably a shelter for survivors or burned down by this point.
[Look at my app to know what she has in the backpack. Pretty important]
also i apologize for the short post. Not my best I'm still getting used to Gris
Samuel watched as the woman suddenly shouted at him for asking to check her and ran off into the house they were going to, her bag dropped on the floor and he decided to open it to see what was inside. At the moment all that was in there was a USP seemed enhanced with a flash-light, a machete most of these seemed standard for a survivor of the apocalypse, some extra clothes then something seemed to catch his attention it was a painting he lifted it out only to immediately spot another thing that looked like a photo.
He took it out of the bag to find that it looked like a family portrait with a more cleaned up version of Miss Griselda and a variety of other people who he assumed was her family, a tear welled up in his eye after seeing what a happy family they were, he never got the chance to start one with his Fiancée dying before the outbreak.
Samuel decided he should probably return this backpack to Griselda so he went inside the house "Señora, I have your backpack" as he got into the building he saw her adjusting the building around so he approached her "You know this is only temporary housing, you will get a house in the next few days but hey who am I to complain, here I believe this belongs to you" Samuel said as he gave the picture to Griselda and placing the bag near her feet before sitting down on the chair that was in the house, he proceeded to take of his wooden leg due to it starting to hurt. "Well now we are here I need to ask you questions, first How many walkers have you killed, second how many people have you killed, third Why?, forth were you a part of any other settlements, fifth What happened to that settlement and finally sixth how did you find Emblem?" Samuel said leaning on his side as he placed his stump high enough for him to massage it.
It was like a mother bear watching a hunter near her cubs. As quickly as she saw the photo the sooner it was in her hands again with a snatch that didnt hurt Samuel nor did it harm the photo. Carefully making sure it wasn't damaged in anyways as she looked at the photo for a long time but it was only a few minutes that felt like ages. "This was my familia.." Trailing off for a moment sniffling up what ever tears were about to form to show the serious expression she tried to portray.
Taking a seat next to Samual in a reclining chair before pulling the handle allowing her feet up. Fixing it so her feet were not reclined anymore before answering his questions. "Don't know how many walkers but it's a lot, wasn't in any settlement ever, wondered up on it Emblem is random in the middle of no where, lastly.." Thinking about how many she had killed was tougher then one would of thought. Tapping her finger over the arm of the chair. "Two, I was too late to save them." Stareing down at the photo of her family with her husbands face burned out of the picture. Rubbing her thumb over Kim and little Tobias's picture
"I won't step my bounds in asking who they were because that's something that you, should tell in your own time" Samuel said as he leaned forward in the chair, "oh and if you need a painting, clothes or a medieval weapon don't be afraid to ask around the centre, you would be surprised what you'll find there" he chuckled.
He grabbed his wooden leg and put it back on "Okay you put anything you have around the house and make yourself at home and then meet me at the town centre when your finished, because we need to sort out your residency just because this is the apocalypse doesn't mean we have lost our humanity" he grabbed the walking stick against the chair and proceeded to exit the door before chucking the keys towards Griselda "Oh and don't forget to lock up" and he exited the building proceeding to his house to wait for the new resident of Emblem to meet him there.
After listening to the man until he left. Moving the keys around her finger tips while looking ove at the door. Waiting a few minutes to pass before getting up and walking toward the door again after grabbing her backpack. Putting it on her back once again as she walked through that door frame outside. Sucks in a big gulp of fresh air while she looked around for the center. Shaking her head slowly wondering if this was the right choice? To say.. And rebuild a life.. No I can't have another chance at life. I'm too terrible. Griselda thought to herself while she approached the center. Pushing a loos strand of hair that had escaped her bun back.
Samuel started to read one of his many books that he had collected of the many years he had spent here both before and after the outbreak this books was recently written by someone calling themselves Stacey Lorraine and Samuel knew who that was perfectly well it was titled "Samuel and The Farmhouse".
As he read it all he could picture was the girl he loved who had died unfortunately before the outbreak tears began to well up in his eyes, but even though she died before the outbreak so she didn't get to see the horrors that he had to go through.
He wiped his eyes after finishing reading the book for the 100th time and decided to take a walk towards the ruined church which fell down after an attack on the safezone a year ago. He walked behind the church where a bunch of graves were one saying Stacey Lorraine, loving girlfriend, daughter and soon to be mother he placed the book on her grave and said "Stacey I wish that you were here, I miss you and I wish this didn't happen" Samuel then proceeded to kiss the top of the grave and walked back to his house after he place flowers on top of the book.

Neve stumbled up to the gate before her. She was exhausted from a full day of traveling, and in desperate need of somewhere to sit either than the dirt. She cleared her throat and put her gun into it's holster. "Um..Hello?" She cautiously stated putting her hands up to show her intentions of peace. "I'm not a lurker. Or at least I don't think I am." She added giving a shaky grin.
Neve shifted her weight from foot to foot. "The names Neve though." She took in a bit of her surroundings, squinting her eyes in the Wyoming sun.
(OOC: That's Fine don't worry) Samuel had been walking around the town centre when he heard the person at the gate and he saw his lookout get down to go and get him but by then he had already nearly reached the gate. Eventually he dumped into his lookout "Okay give me the load-out from who's at the gate" Samuel said as he walked as fast as his prosthetic leg could carry him "Okay so a woman is at the gate her name's Neve or so we think but it looks like she has been travelling for a while because she looks really dirty" Norris said very quickly Samuel reached the gate with Norris and raised his hand for the gates to be open and he said in the most welcoming tone "Welcome to Emblem Neve" and Samuel bowed.
Neve let out a sigh of relief as the gates started to open. She then gave a warm smile. "Thank you. I won't be any trouble. I don't plan on staying for long." She stated putting her hands back down to her sides. Once the gates were open she walked through the entrance. Setting down her bag she put her hands inside her jean pockets. "You can check my bag if you want. I have nothing to hide."
"I'll ask the guys at the gate to keep hold of your bag, if you don't plan on staying for long" Samuel said as he he got up from his bow "Now if you'll follow me I believe you'll be happy when you find out we have hot water" Sam said "Now if you'll follow me we have temporary housing for you" Samuel then motioned his hand towards the housing area.
Neve gave a warm smile at the thought of warm water. She couldn't remember the last time she had a shower, let alone the thought of a hot shower. She noticed the strangers wooden leg. She decided not to ask in case it brought up bad memories.
"How many people live here?" She asked as they continued walking. "Permanent residents I mean." She added.
Samuel went into lecture mode like he was doing a history lesson "Originally we had about 10 people living in our little town but then this outbreaks started I was in Atlanta but by the time I got here our numbers was trimmed down to half and with this small group we didn't have that many people eventually me and my friend Norris began building a wall around the community, that you can now see is our main defense along with towers eventually after a couple months people started to join the community and until recently we had 30 people but it's grown to 31 after a person join about a month ago" He chuckled "Oh sorry I didn't mean to bore you with that history lesson, but ah we are at your temporary accommodations so it's not much but we are currently building more" he said as he pointed towards a two story house that looked like it was brand new.
"Now make yourself at home if you have any further questions come to the large house on the top of the hill and I'll be sure to answer them" Samuel said before tapping her on the shoulder and began walking up towards his house.
Never tried to listen to the drawn out history lesson on the place, but her mind started to wonder. If this place was safe maybe she could stay for a while. She never liked to occupy a space for longer than she needed, because bad things tend to happen once you get comfortable.
When they reached their location she looked up at the two story house. It was more than she was used to. A two story house for one person was a bit much, but she wasn't in a hurry to complain. She nodded off the man as he exited and went inside her temporary living quarters.
There were still belongings of the previous occupants in the house. Mostly un-disturbed as well. Never felt awkward walking around the spacious living room. She looked at a dusty photograph of a family of four. She hoped that they were all safe, but deep down she knew they were all most likely feasting on some poor soul somewhere.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
