After being driven off his small island Arden ended up back on main land. He drove his boat as far as it would go on the mucky muddy sand, the motor spinning as he dug in. There was no going back to the island, and he didn't want to leave the boat for some lucky bastard to find.
Jumping up and out his boots hit the ground with a wet smushing sound. He could feel the mud all the way up his calves just under his knee. He quickly stepped out of it onto solid ground. His pistol was tucked into the bag of his pants, knife strapped to his leg. He held the shotgun tightly as he went forward.
he knew the route to home by heart, taking little time to get there with no walkers around. As he walked up to the shop, made into small camp, it was dead. No sound, no person, nothing. Arden could see the door open, the truck gone from the front.
"Ellie get yer ass out 'ere," Arden yelled, "im home." He had been gone a little over three months, and knew his sister would pissed at abandoning her, but right now he didn't really care. "I said get yer ass outside El."
Heard movement inside, then a male voice. "I hear somethig, yelling," the voice said. It was deep, old, definetly not one of Ellie's lame ass friends.
Arden pressed hinself up agaisnt the frame of the house. His hand went to the knife at his calf and yanked it out. He waited until someone ran through, a fat biker looking guy with long hair and big beard. He pased Arden, not noticing him. Arden planted one stag into the man's back, quickly yanking it out. The man screamed in pain before falling forward.
arden turned to corner, seeing three guys inside. He quickly fired a blast, taking down a bald guy with a goatee. The man took the shot to the chest, falling back over his chair.
A skinny blonde guy guy rushed him with a knife, Arden quickly fired again, taking off one side of the man's face. The man screamed in pain as he went down, clutching his wound. He hadn't died, not yet.
the other guy raised a pistol, and Arden ducked back out as bullets flew. He heard the man shouting for help, calling for back up.
"Some red neck ambushed us," a voice yelled, "he's out front. He killed Gene and Ed."
Arden added two more shots to his gun, watching the fat biker get up, dead but undead.
Arden raised the gun to shoot him, but instead had an idea. He circled aroud back the zombie, moving much faster and nimble. He pushed the zombie inside the store, hearing the guys yell in terror.
one screamed out in pain, as Arden turned the corner again. It was obvious the raiders were terrified. The zombie bit into one raiders neck, taking him to the ground. The guy who had fired at Arden earlier pressed himself up agaiant the wall, only. To have his leg torn into by the now turned raider he shot in the chest.
Arden quickly squeezed the trigger, taking down the last man in the room. He would leave the other two, let the walkers finish them off.
Outside he heard a large truck pull up. Arden ran forward, out the back door. As he left he grabbed a bottle of whatever the raiders were drinking and a cloth. stuffing the cloth into the bottle he pulled his lighter out. Lighting the clothe Arden tossed the bottle into the open door. He saw the room catch fire, hoping the raiders would burn alive inside.
Arden took of running, hopping his sister ha gone into the city, that she was safe. He couldn't think of where in the city, the only place they knew there was Rebecca's apartment.
