Appearance:
Aki is a Japanese man who, even without the apocalypse, looks as though he's seen better days. He stands at 5'8'', and although he is compact, he is built to last, with layers of muscles packed tightly onto his body. His hair is dyed a honey-blond, and there are sections along his hairline that refuse to grow, due to damage or scarring. His eyes are brown, and one of them is partially shut at the very outer corner, where permanent scarring has turned the skin dark. On his bottom lip, there is a deep vertical scar, as if his lip was busted and never really healed right. His knuckles also look as though they were broken multiple times, and healed incorrectly every one. Most striking, however, are his tattoos. From his neck down to his toes, every section of his body, except for the strip down his torso where a button down shirt would connect, is covered in tattoos, ranging in subject matter from traditional geisha and samurai to nature and demons, in either muted blacks or smokey grays and greens.
Occupation (studies and job before the outbreak):
When living in Japan, Aki worked as a high-ranking member of the Yakuza. Once he moved to America, he found finding a sufficient job difficult, and almost immediately fell back into the lifestyle, posing as a butcher in a local butchery, while he actually tortured and killed people as a hired killer in their secret basement.
Hometown (city, state, country):
Aki hails from Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, and lived most of his life there. When he was 25, however, he relocated to Virginia.
Relationships (relatives, friends,...):
Because he has spent the second half of his life in America, Aki doesn't know the fate of any of his friends in Japan. He was an orphan, and therefore does not know the fate of his parents, wherever they may be. The mother of his child is dead, but this happened before the apocalypse. The only real relationship he has, or at least the only one that matters to him, is with his daughter, Haruka.
Weapons (currently in possession):
An assortment of knives
An array of guns
A machete
A bat
Items (clothing, backpacks, first-aid kits, etc...):
A shiv (doubles as a weapon)
A backpack, filled with bags of food, some water, and a flashlight
A picture of his daughter
A basic first aid kit
A bottle of rum
The last of a pack of cigarettes
A lighter
A marked-up map
Mode of transportation:
Foot, though he'll take anything he can find, and has gone through a myriad of vehicles
List 3 or more good personality traits:
Loyal (to those he works for/with and cares about)
Dedicated
Courageous
Rational
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
Sneaky
Selfish
Ruthless
Cold
List 3 strengths:
Smart
Stealthy
Able-bodied
Unafraid to kill
List 3 flaws:
Unafraid to kill
Detached
Able to think too objectively (will wrong you if it's for the greater good, no matter how inhumane the situation)
Obsessive (especially about Haruka; she's his Kryptonite, his one redeeming quality)
Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Aki has had quite an eventful life. He was orphaned at a young age, and taken in by the Yakuza. He grew up with murderers, bandits, and other unsavory people, so it was no surprise when he followed suit. He rose through the ranks quickly, becoming one of the higher-ranking members by the time he hit his early twenties. He was furious to learn of his daughter's conception, but Haruka would prove to be the one thing he would ever truly love. After the death of Haruka's mother, he quickly realized that the environment that they were living in was not suited for a small child, especially one that was a secret. When he was sent to fulfill a hit in America, he took Haruka with him, and once he provided a convincing cover, he vanished without a trace, and made it seem as though he had died.
He laid low for many years, until he established himself in a suburb in Virginia. There, he raised Haruka in safety, but suitable work was hard to find. He began to work in a butchery because of his skill with a knife, but he quickly discovered that more was happening behind the scenes, which he was happy to participate in. He became a torturer and murderer once more, carrying out sessions in the butchery's basement.
All with enough time to spare to change his clothes and pick up Haruka from school. He led a double life, but he wasn't unhappy with any aspect of it.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
On outbreak day, Aki was doing his routine work down in the basement, but only discovered that something was wrong when one of his murdered men came back to life. After disposing of them, he returned to the topside of the butchery to discover chaos outside. There were riots and panic, and Aki quickly fled to his daughter's school. The high school was in a frenzy, but he managed to find Haruka and bring her home.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
After the apocalypse, Aki and Haruka hid out in their home and did their best to ride out the chaos. After the initial panic and terror, his companions from the butchery came to join him, and together, they chased out the military and the walkers over an extended period of time and came to run their suburb in Virginia. They built it up for protection, but it wasn't until a pack of bandits broke in while Aki was away that trouble brewed. He did his best to fight them off and race back to their community, but by the time he had returned, walkers had entered the suburban wasteland. He found his way back to his home, where he had left Haruka in the care of his most trusted companions, but he found them all dead, either by bandit or walker. Haruka was absent, however, and it unknown whether or not she escaped. Aki has scoured the bulk of the east coast looking for her at this point, but soon, he finds himself at Waltonville. Time will tell whether he ever sees his beloved daughter again.
