Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Growing up in Silverton, Oregon, was as one could expect. In the small town everyone knew each other, and Richard became respected amongst his peers for his tolerance, leadership and hard work, very much unlike his younger brother who always was a handful. His mother worked as a teacher and his father was the local sheriff, from them he was taught valuable lessons which he carried on throughout his life.
Once he finished school, he began to look for work elsewhere than home, having had enough of being the assistant at the school or to the sheriff. That was when he found interest in becoming a firefighter, to which he trained and studied, eventually getting the job in Portland where he decided to move. There he met a woman who he married, and together they had a son.
After his brother returned discharged from the military, he came at the door seeking help. The two brothers began to argue, and one day his brother simply left in frustration. A few years later, two years prior to the outbreak, an accident happened and his wife died in a car crash, leaving Richard alone to raise his child. Stricken by grief he found comfort in taking care of his son, as well through conversing with friends, especially a nurse named Aurora who he came to admire.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Being one of the first few to witness what happened to those who died, Richard knew what to except when the outbreak hit its climax. He had warned his friends and family of the things he had seen, and told them to get out of town while they could. Many didn`t believe him, but those who did followed his advice. Unfortunately he himself was trapped in the city when it all went down, trying to keep his son safe while at the same time heading to find Aurora at the hospital.
It took him a long time to get to her, and when he did they witnessed horrible things in their wake. Together they gathered the supplies they needed and headed out of town, taking the quickest route that wasn`t already blocked by traffic and blockades.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
In the aftermath they traveled to meet up with their loved ones, who were already waiting on them at the spot they had agreed. To his surprise, his brother was there with both of their parents; he had gotten them out, however the relationship between them remained strained. For some time they managed to avoid danger, that was until they encountered a large horde that tore through their camp. Both of Richard`s parents died in the attempt to flee, and only he, his son, Aurora and Aiden succeeded. Since that day they have been together, through thick and thin.
