Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Valentine was your typical athletic High School student. She took part in a year round field hockey team of which she was captain, known as one of the strongest field hockey teams in New York. On her free time she took lessons on athletic training as she was curious as to how she would be able to help diagnose and treat injuries of her teammates, and she was able to learn all the basics and was starting on the advanced things. She lived in an upper middle class apartment in the city with both her parents and little brother. She was rather popular in school, but not for being mean and belittling her classmates. Her friends were of that type and often took advantage of her kindness, but all the rest of the kids knew her for her selfless acts and constant kind words she offered.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
An assembly was called towards the end of the day at her school, gathering Valentine and all of her classmates outside to the main field. This was the school's mistake. With the news of dangerous people roaming around the city with some sort of infection the school wanted to make sure no students left campus and put themselves in danger. Of course, the students assumed the school was overreacting and some kids decided to peace out and leave campus, only to become infected in a matter of minutes from exiting school. These trouble makers ended up back on campus, where they began to infect students all gathered on the field. Her friends, as the heartless girls they were, left her for dead and pushed her down as they attempted to make their escape. Of course, she managed to escape the campus with her school bag, sports duffle bag and fanny pack with supplies from the athletic training office. (She was in that office before the assembly was called.) She managed to get her field hockey stick from her locker, thinking she would need to defend herself and immediately set out for her house. Unfortunately, her family, as many other new yorkers had done, fled the city. At least, tried to. A note was left on her kitchen counter, filling her in on what they had seen and heard was going on in the city. They had left enough food and supplies for her to stuff into her bags. She was worried for her family, of course and she set eyes on making it her mission to find them and make sure they could all escape safe and together.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
After the apocalypse Valentine managed to survive on her own by scavenging until eventually she was faced with the situation of either killing or dying. The walking dead struck so much fear into her that she could only swing her field hockey stick at them with her eyes closed, which most of the time landed a hit that wouldn’t stop them. This sort of tactic should have gotten her killed, but a group of survivors managed to find her in time to save her, taking Valentine in to teach her to show less fear and help her cope with have to kill the undead. After being abandoned by the group having split up with them and getting lost, she now roams the streets of New York looking or either her family or her old group. She fears that she won’t live long, since she is not one to be by herself.
