Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Jess grew up on the outskirts of Manistee, Michigan with her family. They owned a decent plot of land and show cased horses and sold hogs to various markets. She grew up with only one brother, and often the two bickered about this and that, just as most siblings do. However, she did live a fairly happy childhood with her family and their horses. When she was young, her father often took her on hunting trips and taught her the tricks of the trade while learning the trade of the farm as well. Living on a hog farm was not the most glamorous life though, and not the richest, especially when the family owned several horses and dogs as well. Jess' family made it through though, and they were happy all the same.
Jess was never one for making a lot of friends, especially in high school. She had a few select friends and just mostly kept to herself. She was known as the girl that read or drew in the back of classrooms. The few times she ever became animated and friendly was when the subject matter or art, books, or video games came into the equation. Other than that, she very rarely inserted herself into social matters.
On her seventeenth birthday, her parents had given her a German Shepard puppy, to which she was beyond excited to have. She named the pup Cody. It was in this same year she decided that she wanted to pursue further studies in art and English.
After graduating high school, she began attendance at Wayne State University. She was able to share an apartment with a good friend of her's who moved into Detroit. Thankfully she was able to bring along her dog, whom proved to be a great stress reliever during her college life.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-On the day of the Outbreak, she and a few other students from one of her art classes, including her roommate, took a trip to one of the museums located in the city. They didn't get very far however as they were greeted with the panicked honks of people in their cars and their screams as they ran from God knows what. It was chaos everywhere, and the students became frightened and confused.
The students were forced to leave the bus and make their way to safety, where ever that would be at. On their way to safety, they lost a few of their own, one of them being Jess' roommate. When the survivors arrived, Jess immediately thought of leaving. She knew they were near her apartment, where her poor dog waited for her return. As stupid as it probably was, Jess snuck away and made her way to her apartment which was roughly five or six blocks away. When she arrived back at the apartment, she grabbed as many supplies as she possibly could, leashed her dog Cody and brought him back to where the students were hiding with a few issues on the way.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Now left with only the company of her fellow students, Jess had no choice but to stay with them. There was no way to contact her family, and being on her own would probably mean death. They were found by the National Guard not long after the Outbreak, and taken into their shelter. Jess and her friends lived here for many months before being relocated to another camp. It was not long however that the camp in Grand Rapids fell to riots.
It was after the major riot in the Grand Rapids camp did Jess and her friends flee. They figured it was best to take their chances on their own rather than try to survive the anger of desperate survivors. Together, the tiny group now makes their way to a town called Monroe.
