List 3 or more good personality traits:
-
Positive: No matter how bad things get, Cohen always seems to be able to find room to see some good side to things.
-
Charitable: Cohen genuinely just wants to get other people to smile. Whether he can accomplish that by making a joke, or helping them out in some way, he gets enjoyment out of other people's enjoyment.
-
Articulate: Being a sometimes successful author, he has a wide vocabulary and is generally pretty book smart.
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
- Complacent: He's usually fine with keeping things the way they are and doesn't really show much ambition in moving forward with things. He's not much of a risk taker and isn't very spontaneous with bigger things.
- Hesitant: When needing to make a decision, he can often get caught thinking rather than acting and letting the moment pass without making any decision at all. He can get hung up too much with making the wrong decision, so he chooses to just abstain.
- Rarely Serious: Cohen is often caught in situations that are serious that he wants to just escape. Although he knows there's a reason for seriousness, he would just generally prefer to tell a joke and make things light hearted. This can definitely get on people's nerves potentially or get him in trouble with strangers.
List 3 strengths:
- Raise Moral: Cohen has a knack for sensing whether people are at ease or not and is able to lighten the mood and distract from tough situations.
- Great with Kids: Being a children's book author, he is great at relating to younger people, specifically kids 12 and under, although he can relate to teenagers to a certain extent as well. He's great at telling fascinating stories to captivate the imaginations of young people in order to protect their innocence.
- Critical Thinker: Kiefer is guy that you can go to if you have a problem and you need it solved. He's great at coming up with options and he usually can come up with really ideal choices.
List 3 flaws:
- Pacifist: At this point, he will do what he needs to in order to survive, but if there's a way to avoid physical conflict, he'll take it.
- Passive: Cohen can be walked over if someone with a very dominant personality chooses to manipulate him.
- Poor Reflexes: If you toss something at him, he will probably notice to catch it too late unless you lobbed it underhand, real easily. He's usually off in thought, so that makes it even harder. In this world, having good reflexes is very important so, yeah, this one's rough.
Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-
Kiefer grew up being considered a particularly 'creative' kid, being encouraged to pursue anything he wanted to pursue. He got great grades in pretty much everything without really trying so, when it came time to specialize in something, he had no clue what to do. He took a year off to travel Europe and Asia at around eighteen with a few friends, trying to 'find himself'. After that didn't really work, he just decided to become a writer, so that if he ever thought of a fun job, he could just write about it and if he got bored of that, he could just write about something else.
He was a young, struggling writer barely out of university when he met and fell in love with Kady Dansfield, a beautiful, smart girl from London. They married, made a family and were happy for a time. Some years, Kiefer could find publishes and make ends' meat. Some years they struggled. Nights were filled with arguments about him giving up his writing and finding a real job that paid a consistent wage. Eventually Kady and Kiefer filed for divorce as their arguments spread from that to every little thing. They grew to hate each other every time they laid eyes on one another.
A settlement was made, Kady moved to Ireland and the kids would stay with her; holidays and a few weeks a year with dad. Kiefer hated it, but he loved his kids and figured it was good enough.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- On the day of the Outbreak, or at least on the day when he noticed it as a serious threat, Kiefer was in London, trying to pitch his new book to his publishers. The last few years had been very successful as he was writing a consistent series of children's books called, The Tales of Monkey Lagoon, in which he wrote about the trials of monkey pirates and noble swashbuckling adventurers. But, he was looking to branch out into more serious writing, so he was pitching the concept of his new book, The Mask of Jorge De Lumeir. It was a crime drama/mystery novel that he was very proud of, but his regular publishers didn't have a solid market outside of children's books so they pointed him towards other companies that might be interested. On the morning of his first meeting, he was taking a lift to his first meeting when officers began scrambling in the streets and the city was put on a sort of lock down state. Kiefer had to take refuge at a nearby pub where the lift dropped him off. Little did he know, he would be spending quite a lot of time with those people.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- After about three months of living out of the pub, London started to get evacuated, slowly. Eventually, Kiefer found his way out and decided to try to get to Ireland for his kids. He traveled as far north as possible before he got caught up with one of the refuge camps. Skip six months into the future and that camp had basically become non existent as people either left or died and the only people left hated each other.
Once again, he made way for Ireland, but at this point, he had no clue how to get over there. He tried shoreline cities but couldn't manage to secure a safe ride across. Soon, he got caught up with another group, a religious one that believed that God was striking his vengeance upon the world. Although he didn't really subscribe to that belief, the place was as safe as any. Six months later and the religious group became a sort of cannibalistic cult that Kiefer didn't really want any of anymore so he ditched it and ended up a good man named William. He's been with him for a few months and doesn't know him too well, but knows him well enough to trust that he has the group's interests at heart.
