Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Was a very unsuccessful lawyer who's job was to defend the wrong. Has a wife, no kids. Lived in a decent neighborhood, and managed to golf almost every weekend as a hobby. But he was also known to collect horror films. He kept them all in his "man cave", which he'd watch almost every night. Was obsessed with them. Was eventually on the verge of a downfall when he was charged with domestic abuse for hitting his wife, Sarah. With that, he lost it. Lost his house. Lost everything. Had no immediate family close by, and even if he did they wouldn't take him in due to his intentional distance from them for years. He was homeless. Finally excepting what life is, he was close to suicide when he broke the glass of a public bathroom mirror and was close to slitting his own throat before he heard some gunshots.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
He had heard the gunshots in a distance, 3 to be exact. Thought it was nothing until they kept coming. Over and over, followed by an explosion in the heart of seattle. He walked out of the bathroom to see the smoke filling the sky and a burning scent filling the air. For nearly 10 minutes he watches as the streets are piled up with traffic. Not knowing what is going on. He looks up ahead to see people on foot, going the wrong way of the traffic. attacking the people in the cars in the most horrific way. Rioters? No. He walks up close only to see a man being eaten alive. No explanation needed. He's seen horror movies. All his life. Sometimes he's even wished to escape into one. Being able to be feared. In a way, he's always wanted it. And now he's seeing people doing just that. So he heads off towards his old house. He get's there just in time to see his ex wife packing the car with her new boyfriend, Mike. Mike was a nice man. A very good golfer. He stands there in his neighbors side yard, watching as the two panic, packing the trunk full of supplies. He then notices his neighbors garage door opened. And glances over at a machete hanging on the wall. The same machete that Mason had lent a year ago. With a few minutes to think, he takes the machete off the wall and heads across the street. First to go was Mike who was in the drivers seat waiting on Sarah to come back from getting the last of her things. Slashed his throat wide open and bashed his skull on the concrete. Sarah came out to the horrific scene and tried to run but Mason stuck the machete straight through her back and out her stomach before chopping her head off. As he's watching the blood surround his shoes, he walks over to the table against the wall and grabs a camera. He sports a sly smile with a deranged look in his eye and proceeds to take multiple photos before finally taking the car and leaving.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
He's spent days on the road, able to fill up at least twice with the gas supplied in the back seat. Ended up at a fire station which was overrun. Only to see a man standing on top lighting up the biters as he called them. One by one, they all fell down but kept on coming. He sat in the car for a second. Before coming out with a machete. With little struggle he cleared a path and signaled for the man. They made it out alive and headed out in the car. They developed a partnership rather than a friendship. Mason knew how to survive and what type of decisions to make. Leo had the strength, but needed to follow. He was always a follower. Mason promised him saftey in certain ways and Leo did the same for Mason. They finally ran out of gas before reaching a small town. Found a school bus and turned it into a mobile home which they then go for a run at a nearby farm and home store and come out with materials needed to keep the bus running. They filled up on gas and kept going. Not knowing where. Their only mission was to survive at this point. But even Mason knew something else was needed. He was needed. Somewhere. And he planned on finding out where.
