List 3 or more good personality traits:
- Compassionate: Donnie has worked in an ER for a few years now, because he has a desire to help anyone in need if he is able, even if it means interfering with his own long term goals.
- Flexible: He's very capable of thinking on his feet. He has solid initial instincts for how he should solve a problem quickly and efficiently.
- Outspoken: Although Donnie isn't a fan of causing conflict for the sake of something to do, if he sees something being done wrong, he'll speak up and point it out. He will always make sure his opinion is heard.
- Self-Reliant: Even though he does benefit from help, he's usually able to figure things out on his own and won't usually go out of his way asking for assistance.
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
- Private: Donnie doesn't really allow himself to grow very close to other people since his wife died. He's still healing from that loss.
- Impulsive: Although he's able to confidently pick a solid solution to a problem quickly, he can be set to doing only that option, even though there might be a better option if he stopped to think about it.
- Critical: If someone messes up his plan or puts him in a less than fortuitous situation, Donnie will definitely point out that they messed up. He is still aware of their feelings, but sometimes he will speak without being sensitive to how his words will affect their attitude.
List 3 strengths:
- Doctor: Working in an ER and in an ambulance for a few years has given Donnie a fair bit of on the job experience with how to deal with a lot of general health problems such as broken limbs, organ failures, etc. He might not always have the supplies to sufficiently mend someone's injury, but he will usually know what to do to help.
- Green Thumb: Growing up on a farm has taught Donnie how to be able to maintain crops well and he has a general knowledge how to tend to a garden.
- Scavenger: Donnie is pretty good at quickly looking through an area and finding things that are the most useful.
List 3 flaws:
- Passive in Combat: Although he has a gun, he has no idea how to fire it properly and has no real skill to protect himself from wild animals, walkers or hostile people.
- Personal: Donnie will let himself become close to people at a certain level, but will start pushing away if anyone got too close. Despite caring for others, it's unlikely that he'll consider anyone else family without something drastic happening.
- Not a Hunter: He has no idea how to catch his own food for meat in case he runs out of food. Even if he was told to hunt, it would be hard for him to take a life of an animal.
Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Donnie met Stacey while going to college where they started to date all throughout their schooling. They fell deeply in love and went on to settle in Columbus, Ohio, since they loved the city while going to college at Ohio State. There, they started trying to have a family and got married. Donnie worked at various jobs in one of the hospitals and Stacey became a nutritionist with the college's football team. After they seemed to have a bright future together, Stacey was diagnosed with breast cancer and ended up passing away after a year of attempted treatments. This obviously devastated Donnie as, despite all of the couple's health knowledge, they still couldn't save her. Donnie immersed himself in his work in an attempt to distract him from dealing with the pain of losing his wife.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- From the hospital's perspective, the Outbreak was the most terrifying day imaginable. Suddenly calls kept coming in. Donnie was sent out to try to bring extremely sick people in or try to find some way to help them on site, but people were killing other people and they had no clue what was wrong with everyone. He saw the sights up close and in person; people dove claws and mouth first, trying to tear each other apart. Years of training didn't prepare any of them to deal with what they were seeing.
Donnie held out longer than most hospital workers. As the hospital was filling up and the streets were filling up with the dead or nearly dead, doctors, nurses and EMTs started getting caught up in the chaos. Donnie wasn't getting any sleep and soon it seemed like he was the only one left trying. Most people had left or died and eventually Donnie knew he wasn't making an impact and he knew it wasn't safe for him to stay in the city any longer. His late wife's relatives had left town or disappeared long ago, but he wasn't close to them anyway and his real concerns lay with his family back at West Bluff.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Since leaving Columbus, Donnie has been moving from group of survivors to group of survivors. Being a doctor has made him generally sought after, but he's been trying to get to his family in Iowa. He's definitely been distracted for a long time since he hasn't made much progress, but he's found ways to leave his groups one way or another. His last group had the bright idea that there would be safety at Penn State. Long story short, it ended badly and Donnie has found himself alone again and on his way back heading through Ohio, on his way to Iowa.
