Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Franklin served as a conservation agent in a national forest. Most of his duties involved patrolling federal lands and going off-road to search for and disrupt illegal campsites and marijuana grow / meth lab operations in addition to enforcing fishing and wildlife laws. He was being transferred to a different national forest at the start of the outbreak.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- Franklin and his wife Connie were on the highway, in a moving truck carrying their furniture to a new home as part of a job transfer. They ended up trapped on an overpass jammed with abandoned cars and Connie was torn apart by walkers in front of him as he watched helplessly. This event affected him deeply and psychologically, and now he has become dangerously detached from his fellow man. Despite his cold-hearted nature, people have gravitated to following him and his convincing survival lifestyle, often at their peril as he is not hesitant to let others fall to keep himself alive.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Franklin joined a small group of survivors that were heading for the mountains in the hopes that the rough terrain and snow would slow the advance of the masses of walkers that are naturally traveling with ease down the paths of roads and railways. Franklin got separated from this group on the banks of a flooding river carrying a horde of walkers downstream in its rushing torrent.
Franklin became obsessively convinced that geography and baiting tactics could lure hordes of walkers around and into ambushes or at least choke points to control their direction. He has determined to be "more evolved" than the dead... as well as those not helping to wipe out the walkers.
Franklin is going insane if he is not already there. In his more lucid moments he will talk of tracking Walker hordes and "taking samples" - taking down some walkers with sniper fire to search them for ID - Franklin has a paranoid theory that he can track where the walkers came from and the distances they have travelled and determine where is safe to go scavenge as the walkers have wandered from there and human competition for remaining resources would be minimized. Franklin follows Walker hordes, tracking them, assuming they hunt the living and will lead him to more people.
