Thankfully the walk out to Tulane didn't take more than twenty minutes for her. She was careful where she went and kept her eyes open for anything that be considered a threat. A few walkers that stumbled along and were easy enough to take care of and leave dead in the street were the only stumbling blocks that kept her busy for a few minutes at a time. The real threat was living people. She didn't want to be seen by anyone as she made her way towards the biology building. She knew she could find things of use in there. If anything, she was hoping to find some medical supplies.
She spent many years in this building and she knew the rooms inside and out. Her studies took her from room to room, lab to lab and into the offices of her deans to review papers and thesis. She had no idea if anyone was inside the building and she didn't really care. The front door of the building was open, which didn't surprise her. She was certain others had already come and gone, taking what they needed or wanted and leaving behind remnants. How many people would be interested in taking microscopes and slides she wondered.
Slowly, she paced herself. Opening the door, moving down the hallway that was littered with papers and debris. A broken test tube, pencils and other things left behind told a story of students and professors anxious to leave the campus and get to safety. There was mold growing up one of the walls from storms and damp air that humidified the entire building. The bat was held up as her heart raced. Step by step she moved through the hallway.
