Remy listened carefully this time as he spoke. She wondered why he was laying all his cards out all at once. Either he completely trusted her or he just needed someone of like mind to talk to, desperately. She found it hard to imagine there was no one in his current camp that got it but then again, it happened to her also. Every time she was ready to start something knew, she was completely intercepted.
"I've been wanting to do that for a long time. The brain part that is." She was leaning up against the door jam as she looked back to him. She sighed and shifted her weight again to the other foot as she tilted her head, stretching out her neck a bit. It was nice to sleep in her own bed again but she had gotten so used to sleeping in cars, hard floors and strange beds, that she needed to get used to the down feather pillow she loved.
"But you can't just bring dying people into a group, then dissect them so easily like that. The moral objections are louder then the need for science I guess." She honestly had no idea how she was going to bring anything back and where she would do them. Hell, she didn't even know if they would be able to stay in her apartment building. They had to think about the future..if there was even one to be had here.
"You are looking years down the road Dan when you don't even know if you'll live through tomorrow. That's pretty bold."
She finally pushed away from the door when he gathered up all he could gather and carry with him. If only they could get away with bringing grocery carts down the road with them, like homeless people. Too bad they made so much noise.
"Come on." She was leaving the building, but not the campus. She would take him towards the on-campus clinic where he could get whatever wrappings he needed. As far as she was concerned, she could use some also, having no idea about the fresh victim that just arrived with her group.
"I can hold my own Dan. I get it. The guy whose group you joined is a bad guy. I've come across plenty of those. I ended up back home because of one. We came straight from Oklahoma where he hunted me..us. He hunted us from Miami, to Colorado, to Oklahoma. I can handle bad guys."
They left the walker in the hallway and came across a few strays that were walking the grounds. It seemed like they had been stuck there for months, unable to leave campus, just walking in circles. She came to another building that was a cafeteria and restaurant on campus, as well as a commons area. The clinic was next door, but what caught her eye was what was inside. She stopped and looked towards the windows, slowly walking a little closer as she caught a clearly glimpse of what was inside. If Dan wanted to follow he could but she whispered to him. "Clinic is the blue building."
When she got closer to a window, she rubbed away dirt and mud to look inside where she saw dozens of walkers. Some were standing and wandering aimlessly. Some were sitting down, others slumping against the walls down on the floor. She could only assume they were students that came looking for safety.
"Jesus."
