Full Name:
-Ember Renee Costanzo

Age:
-30
Gender:
-Female
Appearance:
-Ember stands at 5’9 with a small build though she is fit from years of being ‘on the run’ since Outbreak Day. Her hair is black falling to the middle of her back. It is often a mess though she tries to keep it out of her face in a messy ponytail. Even though the apocalypse is upon them she still manages to keep her brown eyes lined with a kohl pencil as she has nicked several pencils whenever she can. She walks with an air of confidence with her head up and her eyes intense as she scans any given area she comes across. A majority of her body is covered in tattoos that is her favorite physical features of herself.
Occupation (studies and job before the outbreak):
-She has been in law enforcement since she was nineteen and began her work as a detective at the age of twenty-five.
Hometown (city, state, country):
-Haddonfield, NJ up until she was eighteen then moved to Orlando, FL
Relationships (relatives, friends,...):
-Currently Ember does not know if her family is still alive. She has a mother, father, and two brothers that lived up in New Jersey. She has not been able to contact them though she has been heading north since everything came to a head in hopes of finding them.
-She was married though her husband was turned forcing her to dispose of him. This is something she continues to feel guilt for even though she knows logically it was the most humane thing to do for him. She’s not sure she will ever get over it as it has been two years and it still pains her as much as it did that day.
-Her partner, Dexter, is still alive and traveling with her as they were together working on Outbreak Day. She has been helping him search for his nephew who was going to a University close by as they head towards New Jersey in search of her own family. Through it all he has been her rock and helped her keep herself together.
Weapons (currently in possession):
-Beretta Model 92, she has a few clips for this weapon though she rarely uses it as the sound of it firing only draws more walkers to the area. It is used in extreme circumstances only. This is holstered on her hip.
- A truncheon (nightstick, billy club). She usually keeps this tucked into the waist band of her jeans to more easily access.
-An old Stiletto Automatic Switchblade knife that belonged to her husband. This is her preferred weapon.
Items (clothing, backpacks, first-aid kits, etc...):
-Her backpack contains a leather jacket, a pair of ragged jeans, a couple of ratty tank tops, extra ammunition, copious amounts of hair ties (she is adamant that you can’t fight off walkers properly with hair in your face), a collection of eyeliners (she may or may not have an obsession with it), a large pack of ramen that she often just crushes up and eats dry, an old plastic water bottle, a few books of matches, a few packs of stale cigarettes, and a small cramped pop-up tent.
Mode of transportation:
-Typically on foot though her partner will occasionally talk her into taking a vehicle if one is available.
List 3 or more good personality traits:
-Suspicious. Anyone she comes across she doubts their intentions always thinking the worst of people no matter how kind they seem. She feels they can never be too safe and that everyone has potential to turn on them.
-Charismatic. While she is often suspicious of others she can easily sway people into trusting her and making herself likeable.
-Cunning. Working in law enforcement has taught her indirectly through inmates and accused just how to get most things by people. She can smile and laugh but still be plotting a way to get what she needs or wants. Her charisma helps her accomplish that.
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
-Over critical. She will often critique everything she does and feel it was not good enough or see faults in others that are not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
-Temper. She doesn’t often show her temper, but when it does come out it is frightening as she will not hold back once it is engaged.
-Unpredictable. Her partner is probably the only one that can even make an educated guess as to what her next move will be. She is unconventional and when a thought or impulse hits her she acts on it. Now that the world has gone to hell she sees no point on not being proactive without warning.
List 3 strengths:
-Agile. Her small stature and years of physical training have given her the ability to be quick and nimble, able to dodge and outrun walkers
-Accuracy. When it comes to shooting a weapon she is well above average, able to take out anything even at a decent distance with ease. Several years of practice both on the job, and recreationally has given her that ability.
-Multitasking. It is not difficult for her to be physically engaged and still be able to figure out an escape route at the same time. Her mind and body seem to work seamlessly with each other.
List 3 flaws:
-Physical strength. While she is fast she has below average strength being naturally slender and the loss of any muscle mass she had due to malnutrition.
-Mechanical work. She doesn’t know how to even change a tire let alone engineer or fix anything that may be of use to them.
-Short-term Memory. Her memory these days has not been as sharp as it once was, though dehydration and lack of food makes her mind cloudy which could be a big factor in this.
Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Ember was born into a large Italian=American family and is the first generation to live in the States. Her father and his three brothers moved to the states with her mother a few years before she was born, because of this she speaks both English and Italian fluently. Her family started a large business that had made them very well off. While she grew up being very financially comfortable she didn’t show it as her parents still maintained that nothing would be handed to her and every summer she was put to work. Most of the women in the family graduated high school though didn’t continue their education in lieu of settling down and having children. Ember never saw this as a weakness or looked down on it, but she always felt her life was meant to go in a completely different direction.
-Once she graduated high school at the age of seventeen she moved to Florida wanting to spread her wings and travel. Her family was saddened that she wanted to move away from home but still supportive. During her training and schooling into law enforcement she graduated top of her class and went right into the force. She was never one to get into serious romantic relationships as her work to precedence over that, until one day when she met her future husband at a bar a great deal of law enforcement used to go after work for drinks. He was an officer as she was from a different department. After a couple of years of dating they were married when she was twenty-five. They were happily married and had started discussing starting a family right before the outbreak occurred.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-It had been a busy day in the department with several calls coming in about odd occurrences that no one could quite explain. There were rumors going around that something akin to a zombie apocalypse was on the rise. Of course Ember felt it was all just nonsense and people just panicking over untrue rumors. She had just gotten ready to grab some lunch with her partner when a frantic call came in that was far more urgent than the ones they had received earlier. When they got to the scene it was pure chaos. She got out of the car with her firearm in hand ready to run into the crowd only to see what looked like animated corpse’s gnawing on screaming people scattered about the parking lot. She quickly got back into the car knowing they needed to go check on her husband who had the day off and her partner’s nephew at the university nearby.
-When they arrived at her home she ran into the house with her partner close behind as she intended on grabbing whatever ammunition was there and other miscellaneous things they may need. She was quickly greeted by what was once her loving husband, groaning with his mouth agape ready to sink his teeth into her. She tried to reason with the creature not yet letting it sink in that that was no longer her husband. After several attempts at ‘knocking him out’ she finally pulled her gun from the holster on her hip and firing one shot between his eyes. It was devastating though she was somehow able to grab anything she could get her hands on quickly before rushing out to the university only to see it crawling with the dead. From that moment Ember knew they needed to push forward keeping some kind of hope that they could find her partner’s nephew and her family up north.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-It was not easy to adjust though having her partner with her has helped soften the blow. Even with the support her partner provided she still felt guilty for killing her husband, even if it was necessary and the creature was no longer the man she married. She and her partner have been wandering about occasionally staying in camps, though she does not like to stay in one place long as she is desperate to get back to her hometown. She no longer feels anything when having to kill one of the undead as it has become routine in her day to day life. Some days she feels like this life isn’t worth it, but knowing that there is even a slim chance of finding her family and her partner’s nephew keeps her going.
