Age: 35
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sully is a tall,(standing six feet three inches) slender man, (weighing around one hundred and seventy pounds) of a wiry form. His hair is a mop of wild brown, often looking as if it were combed simply by his pillow. His eyes are deep set, a dark blue in color. A thick mustache decorates his upper lip, lips which happen to be a little too thick. A large, pointed nose centers his face, it looks as if it might have been broken a time or two in his life. He doesn’t seem to give much thought to what he wears, nothing ever matches, and it always seems two sizes two large. Baggy pants held up by a cheap, colorful belt. Large, bright t-shirts or dull brown dress shirts, topped off with a brown bowler hat, and a yellow tie, depending on the dress shirt. He wears a pair of fingerless, leather gloves, and has a golden canine tooth.
Occupation (studies and job before the outbreak): Sully is a smart man, despite what most folks might think of him. Before the outbreak he was a highschool biology teacher. (Even then he was thought to be a little eccentric.)
Hometown (city, state, country): Lima, New York. USA
Relationships (relatives, friends,...): He’s on the hunt for his family. He’s not sure if they’re still alive or has been turned yet.
One brother – Stephen Lee McCarthy.
Mother – Ethal Anne Cass- McCarthy.
Father – Jack Paul McCarthy.
Best friend – His only friend (living) is a little one eared Schnauzer named Dave.
Weapons (currently in possession): Louisville Slugger made of prime oak. One .44 mag, six bullet capacity, with rear site adjustable. 2 boxes of bullets for the .44 (About 12 used out of one box of fifty, the other is full.)
Items (clothing, backpacks, first-aid kits, etc...): Two fifty foot lengths of rope. One bedroll. One large backpack . Four or five cans of scavenged food (Two cans of corn, one can of black olives and two cans of spaghetti-Os). A one pound baggie of some kind of jerky (probably beef) with a few strips ate out of it. Three potatoes (Slightly wilted.) And two plastic bottles (32 ounce). One filled with water, the other halfway full.
Two shirts, one pair of pants, and one pair of hiking boots.
Mode of transportation: One 2005 Nisan Sintra.
List 3 or more good personality traits: Smart – He’s quick on his feet, and has a vast knowledge of high school biology/ science.
Morally aware – While he might be a little on the course side, Sully does have his ideals of morals. There are things that he simply will not abide by. Under no circumstance will he tolerate anyone harming a child or someone that he views is ‘good’. Though the term good is only relative now days.
Honest – Almost honest to a fault. Sully will tell someone how he feels and why he feels that way…providing it doesn’t offer an indication of his past. Some wounds never heal it seems.
Pessimism- Pessimistic people tend to live longer and to be healthier for more of those years. This is mostly tied to defensive pessimism, in which people manage their anxiety by thinking through everything bad that could happen so that they can avoid those things. Most experts think that this type of pessimism is protective because people are actually somewhat successful in identifying risks and avoiding them.
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
Excitable - In his previous life this had been something many people had mistaken for enthusiastic. This isn’t quite the case. Sully is easily excitable. Which can prove a problem if he starts to get nervous as well. If he’s not careful, he can get riled up to the point of having a nervous breakdown.
Moody – He’s given to frequent mood changes. One might even say he’s borderline bipolar. One moment he can be happy, even playful, the next (mostly due to whatever events are happening) he can be broody, frantic and sarcastic.
Abrasive- He has a rough personality. Slightly withdrawn in times of calm, he can seem abrasive or even harsh. There can be several factors that one might muse to be the cause of this (and they’d probably be right) but it’s not something that he’ll openly talk about. His past, the life before the outbreak, it is no more. Who he once was isn’t who he is now.
List 3 strengths:
Creative – He has a productive way of conceptualizing and doing things.
Brave – Despite his moody, excitable and abrasive personality, Sully is brave. If someone is in danger, he will do all that he can – short of giving his life (who knows, perhaps he’d even give his life) to help or save them. This does not mean he is fearless, it simply means he’s aware of his fears and constructively works with them.
He sure can swing a bat. Sully’s found an old Slugger that he’s fondly taken as his primary weapon. The slender man is quick, and has a sure swing. He (of late) has been practicing with his .44. While his shot isn’t terrible any more, it’s not quite where it needs to be. Middling, one might say.
List 3 flaws:
Eccentricity - While his eccentricity may be funny in the moment, when building a team he sometimes may lack the ability tone down his eccentricity to build rapport. Deeper relationships are often absent or hard pressed to make.
Self-deprecation – He is very critical of himself. Often he finds his skills lacking what he thinks they should be. He has come to undervalue his contribution to what’s left of society.
He is not very mechanically inclined. That is to say, if his car breaks down and someone isn’t there to fix it, he’s pretty well shit out of luck and hoofing it. Maybe he’ll get the chance to learn a few things sooner or later (hopefully sooner than later.) But in the mean time? He’s got no chance. It’s lucky that his car has ran as long as it has without messing up…yet.
Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse: He lead the simple life of a biology teacher. Well as simple a life someone as eccentric as he could life. He was prone to giving livid lectures in class. Often excitable and energetic, he was one of the students favorite teachers. He met each day with enthusiasm and a willingness to work with even the most stubborn of students.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?: He was heading home after school one day when he noticed the strange behavior of some people. Growing wary, he rushed to his car and sat in the driver’s seat watching as one of the students seemed to be ripped apart by his own mother (who, in turn seemed to have been mauled).
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse: Day to day surviving. That’s the only life he’s come to know right now.
Aliases: Sully, Sulls.
