Amber had awoke early. Perks of being in the house, and not the barn, was she didt disturb anyone getting up. She had made sure the transport truck was fueld the day before. As she made her way to to the truck she looked around. It wasn't even 5:00 am yet, and she was already more awake then she had been all week.
She looked through the truck, made sure the boxes were loaded up. She was planning on bringing a box of rations, and a jug of water. She had three sleeping rolls, and a crate of ammo. It was more supllies than they took on any run, but it was what they need. If they were stopped, or had any conflict, they would be ready.
She looked around, she had told both Inola and Charles that they were leaving early. This prolonged any good bye, or anything that would slow them down. As she readied he rifle and pistol she made sure they were fully loaded.
Amber had already set out a pistol, and rifel for Inola and Charles each, making sure they were cleaned and ready like hers. Amber then waited on the front porch as the sun came up, hoping to be gone any minute now.
Inola woke early in the barn, peeked outside to see it was still dark with a hint of sunrise. Opening her pack, she took out a small ration of dried fruit which fit into the palm of her hand, and shoved it into her mouth. Chewing, she braided her hair, lifted her bow and arrows to her back, took the weapons provided for her by Amber, and strode outside. She was thankful this opportunity had been given to her, and she was determined to do her best by her parents, the farm, and the people trapped in the city. "Ready when you are, Amber."
Her dark eyes surveyed the property line for any immediate threat, but all seemed quiet and peaceful.

Amber looked up at Inila. "Okay once Charles is here we can go," she said. She turned back to the truck, "you remember what I said. Follow our orders, or you're out. We want this done precise and calculated. Charles and I both have military training, so we will move faster and calculated in our movements. You just follow behind and keep your head down."
She moved around to the side door when she saw Charles. Despite everything that happened yesterday night she was still going. Having India and Tyler there would be good, better for the watch. She left Sarah, Abby, and Max to worry and deal with the new comers and the intruders. Having told Brian about taking Inola she and Charles could judge if she could stay with them.
Inola gave a firm nod to show she understood and nimbly climbed into the back of the truck. Sitting, she settled one bare arm on the metal rim. "Are you very familiar with Charlotte and know where this church is? I'm not positive I know which one it is, though I've been there several times. It's amazing what, at least I, didn't pay attention to before all this happened." She was just making small talk to try and get to know Amber better. It was actually refreshing for Inola to be surrounded by people again. She hadn't realized how much she had missed having company.
After a few minutes of quiet, she said, "Should I check and see if Charles is awake?" She didn't exactly know who Charles was, but she was anxious to get on the road.

Amber looked at the tarp covering the back of the transport truck. She gave a yawn and stepped back from the large truck. Inola aske a question about Charolette and Amber looked at the girl in the back. She seemed friendly and Amber shook her head. She had never been, she didn't travel much. She knew where Charolette was, but that was about it.
"No I don't know where it is," she said, "I have never been to it, don't even know what it looks like. All I have are directions from someone there. He told me what streets are and aren't blocked off. I'm going off that. It's on the outskirts of the town though," Amber said, "one of the only ones with a fenced in graveyard."
Inola asked about Charles and Amber shook her head. "No he's staying. After what happened last night he needs to. He can deal with the intruders the way he wants to. Plus having him on guard would work better than. It's for safety measures. I fear a walker hoarde coming in with all the noise. So Becky will go instead."
Becky heard her name as she approached. The night before she had spoke to Amber. The girl came her after she shot the girl who was after the tire. Becky said she needed to see Thad and was going no matter what. Eventually Amber agreed, and decide it would be best for Charles to stay, and help out here.
Now here Becky was. She barely slept, and looked like crap. Wearing a jean button up shirt, one side tucked in and missing a few buttons. She had a pair of army cargo pants, and combat boots. He hair was a mess, tied back into a pony tail, strands sticking our. She wore her aviator sunglasses and carried a bottle of water.
"You girls ready to go," she asled approaching the truck. She carried one of the ballistic vests and palced it in the back of the truck. "We should leave now, who knows how long it will take."
Inola's thoughts turned inward at the mention of the intruders, but she mentally shook it off. Still brand new, she felt a bit like an intruder herself despite being allowed to stay. She hadn't yet found her place in this society, though Brian had been kind enough and interested in her semi-medical abilities which was mostly just herbalism.
Her head turned at the sound of boots scuffing the ground, and she studied the approaching woman. The poor thing looked completely rumpled from hair to toe, but Inola knew the world of today didn't much care about looks anymore, and that was just fine with her. "Ready as I'll ever be to get going and get back," she greeted the woman with a smile.

Amber looked at Becky as she came out. The woman looked like a mess, no doubt didn't sleep. Amber hoped that seeing Thad would perk the girl up. He had before, and seeing him after this moth break would surely do it again. Thad didn't know about Pete, or Arthur being dead. She didn't know how to break it to him, Garret, and Riley.
She looked at the two girls. "Alright let's get going then." She climbed into the drier seat and started the truck. Only one of the girls could ride up with her, unless they all wanted to squeeze into the cab. There were benches in the back, but it would be a bumpy ride. She waited until they were loaded in and pulled out of the drive. Through the gates she drove the truck, turning out to the dirt road.
In a few short hours they woul be in Charolette. It would be evening by the time they pulled in, if they didn't encounter anything on the way.
Charlotte. They were going to Charlotte. Inola's heart thumped rapidly in her chest in desperate hope that her parents would be in that church. She couldn't believe her luck that the trip to Charlotte was happening the day after she arrived! Perfect timing. She nimbly hopped into the back and perched on one of the benches, rifle at the ready in case they needed it. Nowhere was safe from walkers and who knew what else.
She wasn't worried about all the bumping, as she'd ridden the backs of trucks as a kid and was pretty used to it. One hand held the rifle steady while the other gripped the truck so she didn't go spinning out.

Amber drove the truck down the road, the massive size making it nearly knock into any car they passed. It was a clear shot, Becky beside her, radio in hand, map on her lap. When they got close they would signal the radio and wait verbal directions. Until then they had one route to follow.
The truck bounced and road until they came to a stop. A single pickup was parked horizontal across the road, taking up both lanes. Amber stepped on the breaks and the truck skidded to a stop.
"We have to move it," she said to Becky, "let's go, maybe we can push it out of the way. If not we cut the fence and go around through the field.
Amber opened the door and stepped out. As she did she did two men popped up from behind the trucks. They wore a mask, and had Assualt rifels aimed at them.
"Step out slowly, hands in the air. No weapons," one man yelled, "the blonde too."
When they stopped Becky looked at the truck. "Crap what do we do," she asked Amber. Amber explained what they had to do and Becly nodded. "Alright let's make it quick," she said folding the map.
When Amber stepped out and the guys popped up she froze. They yelled at her and Amber. Becky turned around and looked at Inola through the small window. "They don't know you're there, stay down," she said to the girl. Slowly Becky stepped out and raised her hands like Amber.
"What the fuck do you assholes want. We don't have anything."
"We want your truck, guns, ammo, and food let's go," the one thief yelled.
"Yeah and you have soenthig else to offer," the other thief said, pretending to hump the air, "you two sure are pretty."
As the truck came to a skidding halt, Inola was thrown down off the bench amid the supplies. She carefully picked her way upward, sliding on her doe-skinned pants until she reached the window. She squinted as she glanced through and saw the truck ahead parked sideways. What an odd thing for someone to do unless...she winced as the two male heads popped up and suppressed a groan. She met Becky's eyes through the window and nodded that she understood.
While her companions got out of the truck and spoke to the men, Inola slowly and silently slid back down the truck bed, shifting supplies as quietly as possible. She removed her bow and quiver, leaving them behind her, and rested the rifle on her stomach. She waited until she heard speaking again, and then unlatched the back of the truck as quietly as possible and slithered to the ground into a crouch.
Flipping to her stomach, rifle carried in her left hand, Inola swept under the truck. She knew the eyes of the two men would be up looking at the women, not down and under. So, she crawled, wrinkling her nose as oil splashed down on her cheek. Upon reaching the front of the truck, she pulled the rifle over and raised it as high as it would go, aiming at the crotch of the man humping the air. She pulled the trigger.

Amber glared at the two men as they made gestures and spoke. Then she heard the shot, the guy who was air thrusting was shot in the crotch. She watched hums tumble back and collapse down, clutching himself. The other guy turned and looked at his friend, giving Amber just enough time to strike. She rushed forward, throwing her shoulder into the iter guy.
She threw her fist into the guys face, smashing his nose. Grabbing the gun that fell from the man's loose hands she stuck it under his chin and pulled the trigger. The man's brains exploded out the back and she stepped back.
She turned just in time to see Becky pull her gun. She Fred two shots, one in the chest of the crotch shot man, the other in the man's skull. She ten tucked the gun back in he holster and looked at Amber. "Let's get going, we're waitsting time."
Amber looked at the women, "good job Inola. Becky check the men for some keys. Grab their weapons and anything in the truck. We'll move on after that."
Inola smiled to herself as the man cried. Shouldn't've been making sexual gestures like that. She rolled from under the truck and stood, brushing the grass and dirt from her clothes while the other two took care of the men. She wiped the back of her hand against her smooth cheek, but she ended up just smearing the oil there instead of wiping it off completely. Glancing at the two women as they approached, she pointed at her cheek and joked, "War paint."
Grinning, she hopped back into the truck's bed. Adrenalin shot through her veins, and her leg jogged in excitement. She was fired up to get those people out of the church!

Amber looked at the girl with oil on her face. "Better than blood," she said with a smile. Amber grabbed the guns from the men and tossed them in the back. Se then looked at the truck. Becky tossed her a set of keys from the one man which Amber caught. She unlocked the truck, started it, and pulle it off to the side.
When it stopped Becky searched the cab and the back bed. She found two sleeping rolls, and a lantern. Placing them in the back she climbed into the cab. Amber followed and got back in the driver seat. She started the transport truck again and took off. Through the vehicles and leaving the bodies behind.
They drove until it was dark. Outside of Charolette she stopped the truck. "Okay Becky, turn the radio on."
Becky watched the truck stop and grabbed the radio. "This is Fort Bragg. Were looking to contact the Church, come in church," she said looking at Amber who just shook her head. "It's Becky, come on Thad, answer the fucking signal."
There was silence, nothing, then she heard a voice. "Becky God you don't know how good it is to hear your voice. Where you located? What entrance to te city?"
"By the looks of it, we are near the High school."
"Okay just take a left there and follow the road out of town. Take the dirt road off the gas Station and follow that down a ways to the church."
Inola kept watch from the back, rifle held steady in her hands despite the rough terrain. It was a rather boring ride, but it felt so good in the back that she really would have liked to doze into a nap. She didn't though. She kept her vigil, eagle-eyed, on the forest around them.
Upon reaching the perimeter of the city, they came to a stop. Inola stood up to stretch her legs and also get a better view around them. All was quiet with the exception of her companions, and they weren't loud by any means. After checking out the area for dead and finding none, she slid down onto the bench once more and pushed open the small window. "What's the plan when we reach the location?"

Amber listened to the instructions given. "We'll see you soon Thad, Amber out." With the radio off she started the truck again. Inola asked a questions and she turned to her. "When we get there we follow what Thaddeus says. He's the big guy, good looking, with the beard. He will tell us what to do. By the sound of it we just load up our truck with gear and people, then we take what evere they have and hea back out to the farm. That's the game plan anyway, if trouble isn't there."
She put the truck and drive and turned down the road, they would be at the Cathedral in minutes.
This thread is closed, it will continue at the Cathedral
