Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-
Al was an all around great guy, the friends he had loved him to pieces but he still has his struggles with people outside his circle. Not many could see past his childish exterior. His group of storm chasers traveled all across the united states looking for storms to record and uploaded them to YouTube, the used the cash from their videos views to fund their expeditions. Not a signal one of them thought about the future, except for Al. He enjoyed the thrill but was hoping to one day have a family, once this all became boring to him. He loved his niece and sister the most in his family, having become estranged from everyone else.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-
On the day of the outbreak Al was in Kansas City, Missouri visiting his sister and niece since he was between chases. The team had agreed to meet up in a week, giving everyone time to chill and get some time away from each other. His truck was busted up from the last stormed they'd encountered, luckily it was close to Kansas City. After phoning his sister for a ride, he camped out in her guest bedroom for a week. He babysat and helped out around the house not wanting to be a burden. While his sister and her husband were out celebrating a day off of work and home responsibilities (they did this once every time he came around, raising a kid requires a lot of sacrifices to their alone time). He didn't mind, him and the kid were playing board games when a dead head came bursting through the screen door. Al was so caught off guard it took him a minute to understand what was happening. He grabbed his niece and booked it out of the house. Down the street he saw a mailman being attacked by another dead head, looking for another way to go he saw the mail truck across the street. He put his niece down, grabbed a baseball bat a kid left in their driveway. He beat down the dead head and grabbed the mailman's keys. When he turned around to get his niece it was too late, the dead head from the house had followed them and was munching on her neck. He beat the ever living shit out of the dead head, the body was unrecognizable when Al was done. He held his niece as she was dying, tears in her eyes she said, "I...love..you." He carried her with him to the truck, once inside he laid her in the back. After a stop at a house with the garage door open he grabbed a shovel and buried her. It wasn't very deep but it was the least he could do.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- After the death of his niece he kept his mind off of everyone else, never spending too much time wondering if they were okay. It hurt to think everyone was dead, so he kept on thinking maybe they were alive out there somewhere. He feared having to meet his sister again, having to tell her what happened, it broke his heart thinking about it. A few days after running from the dead he stopped and began gathering supplies, starting with a raid through the mail. He found a few useful things (fancy solar light, etc), made a stop at Wal-Mart and other super stores to trick out his new wheels: he cleaned out the back hanging a hammock for sleeping, a laundry basket for basic needs, box of food (always needing to refill for obvious reasons), padlocks to make it difficult to break into his ride while he was away, blackout curtain for the doorway to the back, it took two years but his mail truck "Amelia" (painted on the side like it was a boat with purple spray paint) was his new home and safe haven from the dead. He's in Denver, Colorado headed West on rt. 70, hoping to find company to keep.
