The months had been long and arduous on the farm as the seasons changed. Her favorite time was spring as everything seemed fresh and new. The walkers were less and less it seemed, but summer always seemed to bring a new round of city walkers out to the open looking for a feast. On this day, she was near the forest's edge picking wild blueberries when the sight of a horde through the trees stared directly at her. She nearly jumped out of her skin as she pulled her handgun out with one hand, carrying the basket of blueberries with the other. There was no way she was about to let those berries down and get wasted. They needed to eat.
The monoths that followed had been a learning experience. Foraging, hunting, building, sometimees even cooking. Even though he would never admit it, Davy did find a certain peace here, even though at the end of the day, he had to wash of probably no less than a ton of dirt and grime. His suit never survived the ordeal, though.
Seasons change, though. And spring, used to be a time of celebration and joy and all the other crap, just meant that the walkers have unfrozen themselves and were going to be a regular problem again. Today, Davy found himself idling on the porch, supposedly on watch duty but he had fairly sure they were just afraid he'd screw up the new crops. No matter, not his problem.
With not much else to do, Davy found himself watching Adriana near the edge of the forest. He had never told her his real name, and he didn't think he ever would since he guessed, in the end, it didn't matter that much. And he never told her he was a lawyer either, too late to go back on that lie. As Davy watched her, his mind wandered, until he noticed her sudden shift in attitude. He started making his way down, intent on checking out.
Adriana had started to back out of the forest as the walkers started to get closer and closer. She had taken as much time as she possibly could to gather up the blueberries and she had used up those minutes before it was too late. The walkers were converging and their hungry growls could be heard between the trees. She could run, but she had to battle thickets and low hanging brush and branches from the trees in order to get back to the house. Making it even worse was the heavy basket she had to carry with her.
She nearly slipped on the leaves that were thick and still wet from the summer storms as she hastened her pace eventually getting to the point where she had to put that damned basket down and fight. She wasn't going to let anyone take away their food source and it made her stubborn to a fault. She reached into her front pocket and fired off too shots. One connected, one missed and it only brought more attention to her situation. The walkers knew she was there and her only hope was to call out.
"I need some firearms! I need some help! Walkers coming!"
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
