Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Lukas grew up in a household that was generally high class. His father was a CEO and cofounder of a company in their city and his mother was a neurosurgeon at the local hospital. However Lukas was an only child mostly because at the time their parents agreed that having another would be pointless because no one would be home to take care of the second child. His parents never got around to having another child as his mother contracted a severe illness that left her out of a job for a long period of time. Because of the lack of income coming from the mother's part, Lukas's father became severely stressed and resulted to alcohol to keep the stress at bay. Lukas's mother stayed at home with him and helped him with his homework. When high school hit, Lukas's father's alcohol problem became so severe to the point where domestic abuse was common, so Lukas decided to involve himself in sports as a way to stay away from his home life and avoid the stress and fleeting angry glances from his father. While Lukas was an only child he didn't expect everything to be handed to him and often times avoided driving the car his mother gave him because she didn't feel the need to drive it any more and rarely left the house because of the bruises left behind from her so called beloved husband. In fact in his attempt to avoid being at the house Lukas applied for a job to be an on-training therapy assistant and often worked any shift given to him to gain experience and avoid interaction with his father. Sometimes Lukas felt guilty because he left his mother alone with him but at the same time, with Lukas involving himself on sports, homework, and work, it took stress off of his father because he was able to be self sufficient despite it not being necessary and was able to help his mother out. Obviously there was a poor relationship between Lukas and his father and it became very unsurprising when they split up in the summer between Lukas's junior and senior year. Lukas decided to move in with him mother and while his father still sent them both money, he knew that it was up to him to keep his mother from going back and being reliant on him. In fact the hospital actually worked with Lukas and his mother in making sure her retirement still kicked in due to her illness and often gave Lukas as many hours as humanly possible so that way they could still thrive comfortably in their little apartment; Lukas would often times stay in an empty bedroom between shifts in the summer and on the weekends to get extra money.
However, sadly, Lukas's mother passed away when he was in his sophomore year of college. Lukas knew it was going to happen from the stress and was unsurprised when her reason for death was heart failure. Lukas attempted to revive a relationship with his father however because of the giant gap left in their old house from Lukas and his mother's departure, there wasn't much left to repair. Lukas continued to go through school despite some major setbacks. He continued to dedicate himself to his college work and involved himself in sports while keeping everything somewhat organized at his apartment. Despite the fact that for the most part, Lukas hated his father, he didn't seem to object to his father paying for all of the funeral costs for his mother since he honestly believed he owed it to her for stressing her out so much.
Over all Lukas was very well known for his performances in academics and athletics though at the same time Lukas made sure his home life never surfaced and kept the secret in their small little household. Often times Lukas would get jealous or upset over friends that had siblings because he so strongly wished he had a younger one to guide, though at the same time he knew it would have been worse had there been a second child.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- Lukas was out on a jog for the evening on his very rare day off and noticed many peculiar events. Lukas was immediately called in to work because of the outbreak and often found himself on the critical unit despite having little rotations through that part of the building (because of his work ethics, the hospital offered to pay for classes to obtain his CNA license and was actually supposed to test later that week to actually get certified). In fact, unknowingly, Lukas was monitoring Austin though he never actually saw his face.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Lukas hid out in the hospital in the beginning. He gathered as many supplies as he could and stashed them in a car that he then later hid. If course, living in the city was obviously an issue and had constant threats, though Lukas was able to get by. Very rarely Lukas would leave the small section of the hospital where he had locked himself away unless it was to dart between the cafeteria and a lookout window. When it had all originally happened a lot of the people had fled the hospital and into the streets, so the only ones that were left around were obviously the ones on medical support which Lukas was nowhere near at this point.
Since the apocalypse had started Lukas has had a lot of time to himself to think, which of course didn't end very well in some scenarios. While he was never afraid, Lukas would often go on spurs of mass killing of the undead bodies that shuffled around. It helped relieve the anger that was built up in him from his father and the hatred he felt towards the man. Lukas didn't even think twice about the idea that his father was alive, mostly because he literally didn't care. The only person Lukas had any attachment to was already long gone, so of course he didn't have any hopes or need to leave his current safe haven.
At one point during the whole hiding out, Lukas had snuck to the break room where he had belongings stashed and of course he brought as many back as possible so as not to be bored – particularly the textbooks that he had from college classes like biology, a textbook for agriculture that Lukas had taken as an extra credit that he realized was now actually very helpful, along with other items that would come in handy. As the months wore on and the rations that Lukas had set for himself began to diminish, Lukas took to the streets and ventured back to his house. Now, he's simply wandering place to place and generally hiding out in a form of survival since he doesn't have any companions. Because of his solitude, Lukas often times finds himself bored and going mentally stir crazy so when times like these happen he finds himself mindlessly slaughtering the walkers.
