Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-
Al always wanted to be a soldier, and so he enlisted as soon as he could. He was a good soldier, fought well and followed orders. His military career was a good one, though not particularly illustrious, with the high point of meeting the woman he wound up marrying. Things went pretty well for him until one mission went wrong, his troop was ambushed and he was the only survivor. He took all the blame for it and it's haunted him since. He started to drink heavily and was eventually discharged from the army and his wife left him. He moved back to Syracuse and failed to hold down a job, bouncing from place to place and, typically, blowing his pay check on a drink.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-
He wasn't in the city when the outbreak hit. He'd gotten a job on a dairy farm some miles from the city where it was rather secluded. On the day of the incident he didn't notice much, none of the other people on the farm were infected. He found out about it over the radio, the panicked announcers and the emergency broadcast. He wasn't sure what the world was turning into, but it sounded bad.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-He stayed on the farm for a few days after the outbreak. They were safe there and, in the event that any of those things showed up, they were able to fend them off. Things started to get harder though, food and supplies started to run out and moral started to diminish. When Al got the first chance he could he stole the farm truck and left, heading to the city first. He had a feeling the city would be overrun, but he also had a plan. He knew where the military bases were in the city and, hopefully, they'd have supplies. He managed to get to one of them and looted the place, getting a few supplies to keep himself going. From there, he made his way out of the city and has kept moving throughout upstate New York, trying to find a safe place.
