Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Skyy grew up on a farm learning mechanic skills from her father on how to take care of large machinery. She loved all the cogs and whistles that kept machines going. Upon graduating high school, Skyy went to mechanic school and learned to work on small aircrafts. Discovering a love for helicopters and crop dusting planes, she obtained her pilot's license and got a job crop dusting farms in Missouri outside of Kansas City. She fell in love with one of the farmers who had hired her, and when she found out she was pregnant, he told her he was already married and told her to get an abortion. She refused and had the baby: Jill.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- Skyy was crop dusting over a farm when she saw movement through the tall stalks of corn. Knowing that the poisonous pesticides could make people and animals ill when inhaled at this intensity, she circled around to see what was causing the trouble. A mob of people were pushing into the corn, not caring if they trampled it. Gently setting the plane down in a cleared area of the farm, Skyy got out and jogged over to the corn field. She shouted at the people to get out of the field so she could do her job, but they kept coming. Not only that, but they started coming right for her. Scrambling backwards, she tried to reason with them, but their arms outstretched, grasping. She ran back to the plane and made it just in time. Hands grasped and banged on the windows and rocked the sides of the plane. She took to the air and dropped the remaining pesticide on the mob of Walkers before flying back to base. Everything was okay there so far, so she jumped in her car and drove the five minutes home to collect her daughter and brother. The babysitter was gone, the door left open. Skyy grabbed their backpacks, clothes, and anything else she could carry, snatched up her daughter, and ran to the car. She drove back to the airport, listening to the news on the radio station. Apparently Kansas City was overrun, so there was no point in going there. They had to find somewhere else to go. Perhaps South and catch a ship to another country. She loaded everyone into the plane including three airport workers, fueled up, and set flight. As they were speeding down the runway, Walkers swarmed the tarmac, but they took to the air okay. Flight was good for several hours, but it became clear there really was nowhere safe.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Skyy and the group set down in a field in Louisiana when they were close to running out of gas. They walked through the swamps of the low country, fighting off the Walkers until only the three Merritts were left. Coming into a small town, she fixed up an old Jeep Cherokee with some of her tools and they set forth to finding a safe haven. So far, Skyy has killed six Walkers, but she's not a very good shot with either weapon, so she has ended up wasting more bullets than using them effectively.
