Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Jean Luc Tobias Landry, that was a hell of a mouthful, wasn't it? Just like the man that name belonged to was a hand full. The Cajun grew up fast, and he grew up hard, one of six children, and the youngest to boot, Mr. Landry was the baby of the family, but he was every bit his father's son. A Cajun by birth, a southerner by the grace of god, and a hunter by blood, Jean Luc was an ornery little bastard growing up, quick to fight, quick to butt heads with people. The boy was vicious, like a damn pitbull that'd been kicked too much, but damn if he didn't make his father proud. The boy was a high school drop out, as far as he cared, school didn't mean too much to him. His parents didn't like that, didn't like that at all, but the boy wanted to be like his father, he wanted to be a fisherman, a hunter. He wanted to have time for his music when he got a chance for it. His parents were reluctant, but it was what it was.
Of course, times weren't exactly easy by any means of the word. The Landry family preservered though in their own right. Silas Landry, his father, took to smuggling guns, smuggling dope, and he was damn good at it. His son followed suite, as did most of the boys old enough to run those guns for the local militias. He was good at it, and before too long, the old man had his boys running guns and dope all throughout the state and then in parts of the south, left and right. Why not? They were damn well making money hand over fist. They had the boats, and they knew where to go to avoid the law easily enough. Or so they thought, before J.L got collared by the ATF, crossing the state line with a trunk full of guns missing their serial numbers, which was no small sin in their eyes.
Not a small sin by any means.
He wouldn't rat on his father, though. He didn't turn on his blood for the government. No, he wouldn't do that by any means or measure. It was his family, his blood. The trial happened, and despite the lawyers, and the help? Poor Tobi got sentenced to Prison. He got the book thrown at him for not cutting a deal, and he took it, walked it straight to the door. It took him right to a federal pen, which.. He could sweat it out there any day of the week, at least it wasn't anything like Angola prison, back in Louisiana.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Ain't nothing he ain't never seen before. A prison's a prison, and just because all hell breaks loose on the outside of the world doesn't mean it changes too much inside. The guards ran and took to their families, most of the people were either let go, escaped, or died. One way or the other, most of the poor bastards in Jean Luc's cellblock bit the damn dust, and he almost bit it along with them.. At least until week three of the outbreak. When he thought it was all lost.. A person who aimed to be his doom was his damn salvation. An asshole with an axe to grind had gotten loose. Maybe he got in his head to kill him for an unkind comment, or smart ass remark, maybe it's because J.L based his face in with a lunch tray the chowtime before, or maybe the man really had just lost his damn mind and that was all he could focus on when he got to J.L's area of the prison.
He must have thought the half starved Cajun was dead, because when he went to go bash in his head? He got the sharpened end of a toothbrush made shiv shoved deep into his 'farming parts'. Jean Luc ripped him apart with that damn shiv before he opted to take the man's keys, trying to get the hell out of that prison.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
He's got one real idea in his head, and that's to get the hell away from the prison as quickly as he can, as far as he can. He's got a mind about him to get the caches his family used to use for supplies, to pick up deliveries.. He's a leaf in the wind, a rider on the storm, and a rebel without a damn cause.
