Meanwhile, back in Burlington....
"Sounds serious out there," someone remarked; hearing the comment, Laura said quietly, "Definitely...," turning down the volume on the PRC-77 radio they had, "but we'll survive. Just remember your training and always keep your head up and looking around." She was standing next to one of the gates allowing access into and out of the Burlington Stronghold; above, she could see a couple helicopters above, orbiting the area for anything hostile or out of the ordinary. As she took stock of the day's activities, she went back over her notes and thought, we got a lot done today. Training wise, it shouldn't be anything more than to base 6 Batt here on a regular basis...of course, I'll get to be with Daphne and that's another reason to like Burlington--
Suddenly, the radio crackled with traffic; picking up the handset, Laura spoke. "Yeah, Burlington here, go ahead." She listened as the radio operator from West Point spoke for several minutes, letting her know that the rest of 6 Batt (otherwise known as Schlichter's Scorpions) were coming to Burlington to garrison the stronghold and serve as the United States' military presence in the Northeast. Then the radio operator added, "Oh, and tell Dr. Favell her, Nicholas and some of the Monuments Group are to report back to West Point within the next 48 hours. West Point out."
Repeating the radio operator's message, Laura sighed and replied, "Copy your messages. Burlington out." Looking over at the Vermonter, she said, "Looks like you guys are getting some company soon," telling them about the arrival of 6 Batt to Burlington....she didn't tell them the other half of the messages she'd gotten, preferring to wait until everyone got back before letting the Monuments people know they were about to be heading home soon...
