Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Jeffery Macklin wasn't always a maniac. Before the outbreak he was a good cop, and a good man. He held the law as important and he enforced it the best he could. He was the sheriff and he had a few deputies working beneath him. They were idiots, but mostly good intentioned. They were hard working men and women who also cared about the law. He had honor. He had morals and conviction. Jeffery loved his job and wouldn't have traded it for anything. He cared about helping people. He cared about doing what was right.
One night he was riding around in his truck when he got a call that his wife was in the hospital. She had been shot in a robbery at a convenience store. How could this happen? He rushed to the hospital, but she was dead before he got there. He never even got a chance to say goodbye to her or tell her he loved her. He did. He loved his wife very much. This is what started his slow decline. He became obsessed with finding out who killed her. Well, he was obsessed for the few short weeks he had grieved before the world ended.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-Outbreak day was utter chaos. Even though his wife had died two weeks ago he didn't call out of work. He had nothing at home except old pictures and painful memories. He didn't want to sit at home and slowly sink into depression. He had to find his wife's killer. It took precedence over everything. It was on outbreak day that he finally thought of anything else besides Cindy.
The phones were ringing off the hook with reports of attacks. Strangers biting strangers. People were being attacked for no reason. It didn't make any sense. Usually domestic disturbance was the most frequent complaint, but assault? Jeffery grabbed his hat and stepped out the door deciding to put all his officers on the streets trying to do damage control. It was like plugging up a leaky damn. The attacks were too many, and they were too few. Everything spiraled out of control. There were cars crashing, trying to get away from each other. People running screaming down the sidewalk. Jeffery pulled his car up to the side of the road and stepped out into the chaos. "My god." He said in awe of the disasters all around him. Someone had to do something....
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-The years that followed the great panic were a blur. When things fell Jeffery did his best to patch it all up but he couldn't stop the end of the world. No one could. Jeffery spent his time stocking up on weapons. Right as things were falling apart he saw the direction things were rolling downhill. He eventually went back and raided the armory at work. He threw all the guns into the truck bed of his and set off.
It wasn't long after he was robbed. He came back from a scavenge and his truck bed was empty. They had taken everything. He only had his Colt Python that he carried on his hip. The world was a lawless hell now. It was the wild west where anything goes. What could he really do about it? What could one man really do? As it turns out... A lot. Jeffery found himself in a small group not long after everything fell. They were meek people. Just ordinary people trying to pull together and survive. People trying to protect their loved ones. They felt safer with Jeffery around. Just knowing what he once stood for, what he still stood for helped them feel safer.
It wasn't long before Jeffery was looked at by everyone as the leader. He rose to power quietly and he accepted the responsibility. One night they found a survivor. Some kid who wasn't anything more than 19 at the time. The kid got caught going through someone's backpack and Jeffery shot him in the head without in an investigation. Jeffery's law now was unforgiving. He had lost to much. No one was going to take from him again. No one was going to do ANYTHING to hurt one of his people, not even one of his people. The shocked and quiet faces stared at him from around the camp. Jeffery was judge, jury and executioner. He explained to them that "rules were important and if you couldn't follow them then you were sentenced to death by lethal led injection." (A bullet to the head)
Over the years his group grew. They all knew the rules and they followed them unquestionably. They were bandits. Jeffery would go into new communities and introduce himself. He would inform them that he was the law in that area and that they had rules and if they were broken then the offender would die. Mostly he was laughed at. People weren't laughing for long. Laws are important. It keeps people civilized. Jeffery keeps people civilized at any cost. Even if he has to get uncivilized and things get bloody.
