Ever since the outbreak, Hunter was mostly alone with Khan. It seemed like ages that he spoke to another human being or even saw a living one for that matter. Up until now his only friend was Khan and though she was loyal and good companionship she lacked the ability to communicate with him verbally and he missed that. Hunter sighed, this morning was another like so many before he was sitting upright on the sleeping bag he put in the back of his truck and rubbed his eyes. He leaned over to the side of the truck and jumped over it to land on the dirt next to it. He walked to the riverbed he parked next to and lifted started to walk into the water until he was about knee deep after which he began washing himself while Khan joined him.
After a few minutes in the water he walked back to his truck again and patted himself dry with a towel he grabbed and traded the shorts he was wearing for his combat pants and put on a dirty green t-shirt. He took his bow and quiver as well as his machete and went to the spot that he had laid a trap the day before. As luck would have it he saw a rabbit got stuck in the trap securing him his next meal. He quickly ended the rabbit's misery and grabbed it to bring back to his truck.
One could see that this was a routine to him when Hunter grabbed the necessary items for him to prepare the meal, some firewood he had left in his truck coupled with some rocks he put around the fire wood and a lighter all put together and handled in a skilfull manner made for a perfect campfire within minutes. Hunter in the meantime gutted the animal and prepared it after which he hung the animal above the fire waiting for it to get ready.
When the rabbit was ready he started to enjoy his meal splitting it equally with Khan, in this world knowing how to hunt was a valuable skill and Hunter was glad that he had that skill otherwise he would have died from malnutrition way before a walker or another survivor would have killed him. His mind dozed off as he was sitting leaning against a tree and the weariness took over. He rested his head back against the tree and closed his eyes while Khan laid next to him.
