Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Before the outbreak Carson was the President of The Fool's Dice Club. They were a group of criminals who basically ran Detroit. They stole cars and sold guns and drugs. Some members ran brothels and prostitution rings, they organized back alley street fights, street races, sports betting anything that could turn a profit they dipped their greedy fingers in. Sitting at the head of the table was Carson. Carson had the respect and loyalty of all of the Fools. He was powerful, respected, sometimes feared. Carson was violent and wild and no one dared cross him in the club.
Carson got along with everyone. Like the rest of the Fools, Carson was a bit crazy and unpredictable. You had to be in the business they were in. Carson would cut down any man who crossed him. He didn't care about the numbers game or how far the odds were stacked against them. If you wronged the Fools you were going to pay for it. Carson worked hard hustling to make every dollar he could. Carson was a single father. The only thing he loved more than his club brothers was his daughter Mindy. She was 11 right before the outbreak happened. She was his reason for living.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-On outbreak day Carson was out of town. He was off visiting the Chicago chapter of the club. Business had to be handled and as club president he was the one who had to handle it. He left his daughter at home with an overnight baby sitter. A teenage girl down the street. She was to stay at his house for a few nights while he was away on business. Carson usually paid her pretty well when he was on one of his trips. Around the community Carson was seen as nothing more than a hard working single father. The people in his neighborhood didn't know he was a criminal.
He arrived in Chicago in the early morning hours. He wanted to rest up before he made his way over to the club. Carson was to tired to drive another mile so he stopped at some seedy motel. Moving into the office he rang the bell on the counter. No answer. "Hey! How about some freaking service around here!?" He called out rubbing his tired eyes. Nothing. He sighed. "I don't have the patience for this." He said moving around the counter he grabbed a key from the wall. Room number 7. He left a $100 bill on the counter and went to find the comforts of a soft bed. Carson didn't notice the slightly open door behind the counter that led to a little rec room. He didn't notice the walker on the floor eating the face off of the hotel clerk. He was to tired to notice anything except the back of his eye lids. Sliding the key in the lock to his room he closed the door. Sliding off his leather jacket Carson tossed it on the chair. He tossed the keys on the table and crashed into the bed. He flopped down on the soft mattress and it wasn't long before he was asleep.
Carson would wake later to the sound of gunshots. He grabbed his gun snapping out of a deep sleep. Looking around he realized the shots weren't coming for him. They were off in the distance, but the sound was so familiar he had wakened anyways. Carson rubbed his eyes and looked at the clock by the bed it was 5 in the morning. He was pissed that his day was off to a lousy start. He wouldn't be able to get back to sleep no matter how hard he tried. He had no idea how bad his day was about to get....
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Carson made it to the meeting with the Chicago chapter. It was after he realized how terrible things had become on outbreak day that he got to them as quickly as he could. They were mostly dead, or gone missing. The Chicago Fool's were the extension of his fraternity in a distant unfamiliar land. Chicago. He was miles away from his home, from his daughter. He knew things had gotten bad and he tried calling but got no answer. When the rioting and looting started Carson chose to stick by his Chicago brothers and help fight off a few rival gangs that threatened to take their clubhouse.
The Fool's had weapons in high supply. Stocked armories of inventory ready to be sold to the highest bidder. It was mostly small arms pistols and sub machine guns. Nothing that would classify as heavy, heavy artillery, but still. The Chicago branch was well stocked to fend off the threat. When the war was over Carson could breathe again. They were targeted for their guns. Someone had the bright idea of trying to lift their inventory off them in this new crisis they found themselves in. You can never have enough weapons against the dead right?
Carson had to get back. He had to check on his daughter. He filled his obligation to his club by staying behind a few extra weeks to fend off the threat that tried to rip the Chicago branch apart, but now he had to get back. Carson made it back to his home in Detroit to find two walkers. The baby sitter and his daughter. It was clear how they died. The baby sitter had a bite on her wrist. Mindy had bites all over. With a tear rolling down his cheek he shot them both in the head. He shot the baby sitter a few extra times until his clip ran dry for being so careless. Carson took the bracelet from Mindy's wrist and now wears it like a bulletproof vest. He never takes it off no matter what.
For the longest time he was directionless. He didn't go back to his clubhouse. He wasn't even sure he wanted to live anymore. He wandered aimlessly down the street just intent on letting the walkers have him. That was until he saw a woman and her daughter trying to fend off the dead ones. Something about that little girl screaming frightened spurred him into action. Carson took out the dead with his shotgun and started to walk away. "Wait.. Stay with us." The woman said. Carson could tell she was frightened. It wasn't his problem though. He would have told her to blow him if it wasn't for the little girl. It was like he had a second shot at keeping Mindy safe in a weird way. Carson stayed with the woman who's name was Heather and the little girl who's name was Gracie. He stayed with them the better part of 4 years until something out of his control took them away from him.
Directionless ones again Carson grieved for even more people. He got a nasty gash in his head trying to save them. He shaved his head in a mirror and stitched it up himself. His heart was hurting and he just was ready to give up. Everyone he ever knew was dead so he thought. He didn't realize that so many members of his club had survived the chaos the world became. Carson was out of ammo. All he wanted to do was go back to his club, sit at the head of his table in the church and put a bullet in his head after downing a bottle of scotch. That was a good plan right? Carson slowly started making his way across town to the Fool's Dice Club. When he arrives, he'll be surprised to find that he still has family in this world...
