Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Terry had spent his early life in a family that had always put emphasis on sports and being generally active, Thus Terry had always been a very active person from a young age. Terry lived a happy childhood, The only son in a family of four girls he had always been very protective of them just like his father who had died while on tour when he was fifteen.
The day the news came that his father was never coming back hit Terry hard, Being the only son in the family he had an attachment to his father that in some ways seemed stronger than steel , he had always viewed him as his hero. After that Terry began growing increasingly interested in the military and why his father had dedicated so much of his life to it. As high school grew near Terry began looking into other countries and their military programs; Taking a particular liking to the american's as the years went by. During his senior year of high school Terry met Jamie, a fellow senior who had recently transferred in from the nearby town of Red Deer after her father had taken a job in the city.
The final year of school passed and by the end Terry and Jamie had fallen madly in love, Jamie's twin sister Tera always seemed jealous of the two when he was around. When Terry turned twenty he proposed to Jamie while they were on vacation in Michigan with their families, Jamie of course said yes and with a few grumbles from the families, they decided to become American citizens so Terry could attempt to succeed with a the career in the military. They both applied for citizenship and after taking numerous history classes to learn the american history, They passed and became true, American citizens. The following month Terry Applied to the armed forces and began his journey through basic, were he scored high on the APFT which allowed him the opportunity to take the SFAS after serving his first three years of active duty and was returned to the states to start his training for the Special Forces, He moved his family around for a while he worked his way through training after that.
His first child born when he was twenty five while he was deployed over seas, a baby boy. He was his little trooper from day one even though he didn't get to see him or even hear him for nearly a year because of the mission he was on but once he did, He couldn't believe how beautiful he was. His second, A little girl; was born nine years later, her name was Sarah, the light of his eye. Together the two children where the best thing he could ask for and every mission he was on he kept a picture of them on his person, close to his heart under all his gear.
Over the years he went back and fourth between the states and being stationed over seas at one place or another, sometime training rebels, others fighting in Iraq or whatever theater his superiors deemed him needed. He hated missing his children's lives but he had a duty to fulfill and the loyalty to completing whatever he was tasked with burnt strong in his heart. His fondest memories though where from his time spent in the states and starting Sarah on her path to follow in his and her brothers footsteps to become a sharpshooter.
After his last tour before the end him and his unit had been ordered to return to the states and to aid in training of new recruits in Michigan; It was mundane work but after some of the hardships that his unit and him had gone through it was a welcomed change. especially for Terry because it meant he would be able to be part of his families lives nearly full time again after they got moved back into the state.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- On the day the world ended Terry had started the day just as he had the last few months of being stationed in Michigan, It was a calm morning, dew still on the grass as the orange hue of morning had begun to paint the sky with its beauty as he passed the checkpoint into the compound. They day went by as normal for the most part, training the groups as they went through the challenges of the day with the guidance of his trained eyes and experienced nature. All was normal until that afternoon, when reports of 'monster' like creatures began to make their way through the radio's, the 'monsters' in question had been reported to be raising from graves and other places to feast on the living. Terry thought it was just command playing a prank at first but as the reports began to pick up in frequency and intensity his attitude shifted serious and focused. He informed the recruits that training had been cut short and made his way to the main building to investigate the reports with the heads of the compound.
Reaching the front door the place seemed to be in a panic, everyone running every which way about their duties in a hurried fashion like an attack on the base was immanent. As he stood there for a moment he heard his radio kick to life telling him to report to the commanders office. responding to the request he made his way to the commanders office where he saw him, pacing behind his wooden desk. Taking notice of his presence he explained the situation and that they had been ordered to start evacuating the surrounding towns as best they could and to set up a stronghold of sorts to await further orders, His unit were to be moved to aid the main force in the attempt to control whatever these creatures were.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Terry and his unit spent the next few weeks aiding the vain efforts of the military to contain the threat that had shown its ugly head, as the infection spread it sent the world into chaos. Terry followed orders begrudgingly at first due to the fact that his family was not among the names of registered survivors but he had faith that Jamie would know what to do and would keep them safe.
His unit was stationed in and around Michigan for a few months after that, Terry couldn't think of anything but his family while they moved around the eastern US attempting to halt the swarms of dead with his fellow soldiers, Entire towns had been turned into war zones by this point and it seemed all was lost, Strongholds falling, people dying and reanimating everywhere you turned. But as the swarms became to much to handle the command structure began to fall apart, no one was ready for this.. Whatever This was that is. his unit stayed attached to a mechanized infantry division for the most part after Michigan fell. The hordes of undead had become far too great for the limited forces they had. It was a numbers game by this point, they simply didn't have the numbers. Slowly they were forced to retreat and abandon Michigan after the first year they had managed to hold a slice of land there. They were evacuated to New York after that where they remained stationed for the next three years as the numbers of the infected began to grow, The forces there managed to secure the place though and have been able to operate with some comfort from that time on, But Terry never knew what happened to his family, His darling wife, His beautiful children. All lost in the flames of chaos and destruction that followed that fateful day in Michigan. Terry has sense continued the good fight against his enemy, In the hope that some day he'll be able to be reunited with his family and to someday be able to live a life of at least mild comfort and safety, But that day is still a far way yet and there are still many hardships to overcome before that goal is within his grasp.
