The trip from Rhode Island was a tough one since they went back to Jamestown once the snow was mostly gone from the heating of Spring. It was utter chaos as bodies riddled the ground throughout Jamestown. A small amount of the children's bodies were even among it all. Feeling as though it was his duty as part of the former group, he buried all 26 bodies that they found. Leaving grave stone markers, he even made one for Sophia. It took days for it all and they spent their time together in what use to be his home. When he wasn't making graves, he was packing his things into the truck. Once it was all over and done with, he set fire to the home as a symbol that he is leaving the past where it belonged. In the Past. With his new love and sweetheart, he hooked her car up to his truck and hopped inside of the truck with her in the passenger seat. His rifle on the gun rack behind them and his revolver on his side. Shifting it into first gear, they both drove forth to plow through life and to make a new future for them both. For most of the time, Simon decided to drive them since he wasn't to sure if Kate knew how to drive stick shift. So, the safer the better. Every now and then, they would stay a couple of days to a week at a time in different locations, not going into area's that had markings of people. No one was safe in his mind with all he had witnessed so far in his life. Holding her hand every step of the way, it was truly heaven to him. Every now and then, they had to deal with walkers or had to wait them out in buildings. But for the most part, it was pleasant since he was with her and she was with him. It was like those two couldn't be broken apart of each other.
It was summer now, they were driving along the main stretch of road in Arkansas and saw a sign for a place called 'Mulberry Lodging.' Thinking on it as they came up to the road which then turned into an old dirt road, he turned onto it and drove them all the way down it. Making sure he takes it careful since they didn't know the area all to well. "Let's see what this place has to offer babe." He said to her smiling a big grin on his face. Going through the path and somewhat windy turns easily, they came up to a bunch of Log Cabins that looked as if they haven't been used in ages. Slowing down to a stop, he put on the E-brake and turned off the truck. Reaching behind him, he picked up the 30-30 lever action rifle and stepped out of the truck. He knew that if he was to tell her to stay put and stay inside of the truck, she wouldn't listen. He was just as worried for her as she was for him. Like it was stated before, the two couldn't be broken apart. Gently closing the door to his Dodge, he placed the butt of his rifle up against his shoulder and carefully walked towards the first Log Cabin. Reaching out, he took a hold of the door knob and slowly turned it. It was unlocked. As the latch was undone, he gently pushed it forward and let it open up at it's own momentum. Raising the rifle up, he stepped forth and began to sweep through the first cabin. It was clear. No signs of life in months or the dead at that matter. Going back outside, he went to the next few cabins and did the same process and found they were all clear as well. Letting out a breath of relief, he slung his rifle onto his back and opened the windows to let out the musky smell inside of the places. "Well Kate my love, I think we finally found home...what do you think?" He looked down at her with a smile on his face and then kissed her on the lips before having to get to work with unpacking the truck and car of their gear and supplies that they collected and gathered over the time they were together on this adventure.
Stepping out of the cabin, he walked over to their vehicles. Undoing the tow chain from his truck and her car. Placing his hands on the hood of the car, he began to push it back away from the truck and stopped about ten feet away. Going over to the driver side of the car, he opened it and reached into it putting the car in park. Going over to the truck, he opened the bed and began to pull out the many bags they had. Walking into the Cabin, he would begin to unload the bags, cases of their belongings into the living room area. When six bags were brought in, he took off his coat and placed it on a couch and walked back out towards the truck. The bed of the truck was almost empty except for one thing. Pulling out the keys from his pocket, he undid the ratchet straps from the ATV and dropped them to the floor. Grabbing a hold of the top bar of the small vehicle, he lifted himself up and slid through the door and onto the driver seat. Sliding the key into the ignition, he turned the key and the engine came to life. Shifting it into first gear, he slammed his foot down on the gas pedal and the atv flew off the back of the truck and bounced a bit on the wheels that made Simon to chuckle a bit as he rocked around in it. Turning the wheel a bit, he drove it to the back of the Cabin. Hitting the brake as it skidded a bit on the dirt under the tires. It was something he had missed using, plus other things he use to do. Frowning a bit, he missed hiking and mountain climbing. Looking around him, they had a forest all around them. So, it was a perfect place to start a new life. Turning off the vehicle, he climbed out. Taking the rifle off of his shoulder, he held it with one hand as he walked to the back door and tried it hoping it too was unlocked. But, it wasn't. Sighing, he let out a groan as he walked around the side towards the front and stepped inside of the open door. Everything was now out of the vehicles they had. Closing the door behind him, he walked over to a sofa and sat down in it. It was a weird feeling since he was used to either hard surfaces or the truck's bench. Resting his head back and closing his eyes, he let out a slow breath from his mouth as he felt...Relaxed.
