Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Before the outbreak Dennis belonged to the Fool's Dice Club. They were a rough group of guys who dabbled in all sorts of illegal activities. They stole cars, sanctioned street fights and took bets. They broke into houses and did pretty much whatever they wanted. Each member had a special focus though. Some were purely car thieves, others were running underground fight rings. Dennis was a bookie. He took all the action on sports betting. He was also a bit of a loan shark. He would front you the cash, then break your legs when you couldn't pay. Then he would break your father's legs when you still didn't pay.
Dennis was kind of a jerk. He was arrogant and cocky. He was never faithful to his girlfriends of which he had several. Dennis moved through life using people for what they could do for him. It helped out that he was very handsome and charming. And even though he was a rotten person he usually came over rather likeable somehow. He just had a way about him. He could spin a situation to make himself come out looking like an angel even if he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He was young, his bank account was impressive. He had any girl he wanted. Life was good until the world ended.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
On outbreak day Dennis was working. He had a few people that owed him money and he intended on collecting. He moved through the neighborhood with his hand stuffed in the pockets of his leather jacket. The fool's dice logo prominently displayed on the back. He moved confidently through the rough neighborhood. He didn't worry about getting jumped. The logo on his jacket afforded him protection. No one was stupid enough to mess with the Fool's Dice. He could have walked down the street with 10 grand in cash in his hand and not had a problem.
Moving up the steps to an apartment building he banged on the door. When the door opened just a crack on a chain, Dennis kicked the door in. He reached up and slicked back his hair as he entered. The force from the kick had mussed it slightly.
Dennis: Billy boy! You owe me some money.
Billy: Dennis i was going to get it to you. I swear! Here i got it right here...
Dennis watched him go for a drawer. Instead of some money though, he pulled out a gun. Dennis lunged at him. They wrestled for the gun a bit and it ended up going off in Billy's chest. Dennis killed him. He watched him bleed out into the carpet.
Dennis: Oh Christ!
Dennis had never killed anyone before. He didn't know what to do. He took off out of the apartment. He didn't bother to wipe the fingerprints from the room or think about all the witnesses that saw him walking cockily down the street. Luckily for him the world was about to end. Dennis left behind enough evidence to get locked up for life. The apocalypse only bailed him out.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
The murder kind of freaked him out. Dennis was a thug and a bruiser, but he was never a killer before. Some members of the club were killers, but he had never dipped his finger into that well. He panicked and got out of town before things got too crazy on outbreak day. He didn't realize that the world was falling apart when he left and how hard it'd be to get back to his club and his family.
Life was rough, but no rougher than it had ever been. Dennis found quickly what he had to do to survive in this new world. He didn't feel bad about killing the dead. As far as he was concerned they were dead already. He put down walkers that came into his path, mostly he used his bat to save the ammo. He scavenged and survived just trying to make it. Dennis couldn't help but scavenge from car dealerships. He always chose a different car each time. The most expensive looking car they had. Currently he's driving a Lamborghini. When he gets bored with it he'll find another, and another....
Dennis still functions with a thought process that's out dated. He still tries to keep up his appearance and wears clean clothes. He always carries a few bottles of cologne. He is just a shallow materialistic guy who only survives because of his own selfishness. It's taken him four years of wandering to come back home. Mostly he tried to make it and figured everyone he knew was dead. Dennis is headed back to Detroit. He hasn't realized yet that the Fools are alive and well.
